Medication adherence and quality of life among type-2 diabetes mellitus patients in India

BACKGROUND Diabetes mellitus(DM)is a progressively increasing metabolic disorder and a significant public health burden that demands immediate global ***,there is a paucity of data about adherence to antidiabetic drugs among patients with type-2(T2)DM in Uttarakhand,*** research reported that more than 50%of patients do not adhere to the correct administration and appropriate medicine *** has been reported that patients with chronic diseases who adhere to treatment may experience improvement in quality of life(QoL)and vice *** To assess the adherence to antidiabetic medication and QoL among patients with *** This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted at a tertiary care hospital in Uttarakhand,*** Medication Adherence Rating Scale and World Health Organization QoL-BREF scale were used to assess medication adherence and *** Two hundred seventy-seven patients suffering from T2DM participated in the *** mean age was 50.80(±10.6)years,155(56%)had a poor adherence level and 122(44%)had a good adherence level to antidiabetic *** adjusting for sociodemographic factors,multiple linear regression analysis found patients who were adherent to antidiabetic medications had significantly higher mean overall perception of QoL and overall perception of health,with beta scores of 0.36 and 0.34,respectively(both P=0.000)points compared with nonadherent *** There was an association between medication adherence and QoL in patients with ***,there is a need to plan awareness and counseling programs followed by regular follow-up to motivate patient adherence to recommended treatment and lifestyle regimens.

Extinction ratio tolerant filterless millimeter wave generation using single parallel MZM

Enhancing the spectral quality of the signal without varying the extinction ratio is a challenge for millimeter(MM)wave ***,we propose a novel extinction ratio tolerant frequency 8-tupling technique using two Mach-Zehnder modulators(MZMs)with optimal splitting ratio in parallel *** the proposed technique is not affected by extinction ratio,a high quality MM wave is still obtained with complete unwanted sideband *** non-ideal MZMs withπ/2 andπphase shifter realize MZM with optimal splitting ratio,which acts as a high extinction ratio *** 80 GHz MM wave with 62 d B optical sideband suppression ratio(OSSR)and 54 d B radio frequency sideband suppression ratio(RSSR)is generated from 10 GHz local oscillator signal at 2.4036 modulation index(MI).Performance of the present work has been evaluated using various MIs,phase drifts and extinction *** suppression ratio(SSR)greater than 10 d B is reported in a wide MI ranging from 2.36 to ***,both the SSRs are tolerant towards MZM extinction *** work is ideal for wavelength division multiplexing(WDM)applications due to its filterless characteristics.

Condition monitoring of a wind turbine generator using a standalone wind turbine emulator

The intend of this paper is to give a description of the realization of a low-cost wind turbine emulator （WTE） with open source technology from graze required for the condition monitoring to diagnose rotor and stator faults in a wind turbine generator （WTG）. The WTE comprises of a 2.5 kW DC motor coupled with a 1 kW squirrel-cage induction machine. This paper provides a detailed overview of the hardware and software used along with the WTE control strategies such as MPPT and pitch control. The emulator reproduces dynamic characteristics both under step variations and arbitrary variation in the wind speed of a typical wind turbine （WT） of a wind energy conversion system （WECS）. The usefulness of the setup has been benchmarked with previously verified WT test rigs made at the University of Manchester and Durham University in UK. Considering the fact that the rotor blades and electric subassemblies direct drive WTs are most susceptible to damage in practice, generator winding faults and rotor unbalance have been introduced and investigated using the terminal voltage and generated current. This wind turbine emulator （WTE） can be reconfigured or analyzed for condition monitoring without the need for real WTs.

Transition magnetic moments of J^P=3/2^+ decuplet to J^P=1/2^+ octet baryons in the chiral constituent quark model

In light of the developments of the chiral constituent quark model（χ^（CQM）） in studying low energy hadronic matrix elements of the ground-state baryons, we extend this model to investigate their transition *** magnetic moments of transitions from the J^P=3/2~＋ decuplet to J^P=1/2~＋ octet baryons are calculated with explicit valence quark spin, sea quark spin and sea quark orbital angular momentum contributions. Since the experimental data is available for only a few transitions, we compare our results with the results of other available models. The implications of other complicated effects such as chiral symmetry breaking and SU（3） symmetry breaking arising due to confinement of quarks are also discussed.

First Total Synthesis and Biological Potential of a Heptacyclopeptide of Plant Origin

Synthesis of a natural glycine-rich heptacyclopeptide mahafacyclin A （7） was accomplished by solution-phase technique of peptide synthesis via coupling of tetrapeptide unit Boc-L-Thr-L-Ile-L-Leu-Gly-OH with tripeptide unit L-Val-L-Phe-Gly-OMe followed by cyclization of linear heptapeptide fragment. Structure of the newly synthesized cyclopolypeptide was confirmed by means of chemical, spectroscopic analyses and subjected to antibacterial, antifungal and anthelmintic activity studies. Bioactivity results showed potent antifungal and anthelmintic activities of the synthesized peptide against dermatophytes T. mentagrophytes, M. audouinii and earthworm species M. kon-kanensis, P. corethruses and E. eugeniea.

Development of a highly controlled system for large-area,directional printing of quasi-1D nanomaterials

Printing is a promising method for the large-scale,high-throughput,and low-cost fabrication of ***,the contact printing approach shows great potential for realizing high-performance electronics with aligned quasi-1D *** being known for more than a decade,reports on a precisely controlled system to carry out contact printing are rare and printed nanowires(NWs)suffer from issues such as location-to-location and batch-to-batch *** address this problem,we present here a novel design for a tailor-made contact printing system with highly accurate control of printing parameters(applied force:0-6 N±0.3%,sliding velocity:0-200 mm/s,sliding distance:0-100 mm)to enable the uniform printing of nanowires(NWs)aligned along 93%of the large printed area(1 cm^(2)).The system employs self-leveling platforms to achieve optimal alignment between substrates,whereas the fully automated process minimizes human-induced *** printing dynamics of the developed system are explored on both rigid and flexible *** uniformity in printing is carefully examined by a series of scanning electron microscopy(SEM)images and by fabricating a 5×5 array of NW-based *** work will pave the way for the future realization of highly uniform,large-area electronics based on printed NWs.

A natural proline-rich tetrapeptide cyclo-prolyl-leucyl-prolyl-phenylalanyl was prepared employing solu- tion-phase method of peptide synthesis through coupling of dipeptide fragments Boc-l-Pro-l-Leu-OH and 1-Pro-l-Phe-OMe which utilizes diisopropylcarbodiimide （DIPC） as coupling agent and N-methylmorpholine （NMM） as the base. Deprotection of linear tetrapeptide unit followed by its cyclization provided a cyclopeptide, identical in all aspects to the natural molecule. Pharmacological evaluation showed cytotoxic, antifungal and antihelmintic po- tential of synthesized peptide against Dalton＇s Lymphoma Ascites （DLA） and Ehrlich＇s Ascites Carcinoma （EAC） cell lines, pathogenic dermatophytes and earthworms.
