Crop improvement is crucial for addressing the global challenges of food security and sustainable agriculture.Recent advancements in high-throughput phenotyping(HTP)technologies and artificial intelligence(AI)have revolutionized the field,enabling rapid and accurate assessment of crop traits on a large scale.The integration of AI and machine learning algorithms with HTP data has unlocked new opportunities for crop improvement.AI algorithms can analyze and interpret large datasets,and extract meaningful patterns and correlations between phenotypic traits and genetic factors.These technologies have the potential to revolutionize plant breeding programs by providing breeders with efficient and accurate tools for trait selection,thereby reducing the time and cost required for variety development.However,further research and collaboration are needed to overcome the existing challenges and fully unlock the power of HTP and AI in crop improvement.By leveraging AI algorithms,researchers can efficiently analyze phenotypic data,uncover complex patterns,and establish predictive models that enable precise trait selection and crop breeding.The aim of this review is to explore the transformative potential of integrating HTP and AI in crop improvement.This review will encompass an in-depth analysis of recent advances and applications,highlighting the numerous benefits and challenges associated with HTP and AI.

Dietary fiber(DF)was considered an antinutritional factor due to its adverse effects on feed intake and nutrient digestibility.However,with increasing evidence,scientists have found that DF has enormous impacts on the gastrointestinal tract(GIT)development,digestive physiology,including nutrient digestion,fermentation,and absorption processes of poultry.It may help maintain the small and large intestine’s integrity by strengthening mucosal structure and functions and increasing the population and diversity of commensal bacteria in the GIT.Increasing DF content benefits digestive physiology by stimulating GIT development and enzyme production.And the inclusion of fiber at a moderate level in diets also alters poultry growth performance.It improves gut health by modulating beneficial microbiota in the large intestine and enhancing immune functions.However,determining the source,type,form,and level of DF inclusion is of utmost importance to achieve the above-noted benefits.This paper critically reviews the available information on dietary fibers used in poultry and their effects on nutrient utilization,GIT development,gut health,and poultry performance.Understanding these functions will help develop nutrition programs using proper DF at an appropriate inclusion level that will ultimately lead to enhanced DF utilization,overall health,and improved poultry growth performance.Thus,this review will help researchers and industry identify the sources,type,form,and amount of DF to be used in poultry nutrition for healthy,costeffective,and eco-friendly poultry production.

Seismic safety evaluation methodology for masonry building and retrofitting using splint and bandage technique with wire mesh

The paper presents a seismic safety assessment of unreinforced masonry(URM)building using two approaches.The first approach uses the‘Pier Analysis’method,based on the concept of equivalent lateral stiffness,where in-plane and out-of-plane actions are considered independently.The second approach is developed with the program SAP2000,where the linear response is evaluated using continuum‘finite element modelling’(FEM).Both methods are compared to evaluate the safety of wall piers and the differences in the outcomes under combined gravitational and lateral seismic forces.The analysis results showed that few wall elements are unsafe in in-plane and out-of-plane tension.It is also observed that the pier analysis method is conservative compared to FEM,but can be used as a simplified and quick tool in design offices for safety assessment,with reasonable accuracy.To safeguard the URM wall piers under lateral loads,a retrofitting technique is adopted by providing vertical and horizontal belts called splints and bandages,respectively,using welded wire mesh(WWM)reinforcement.The study using the‘Pier Analysis’shows that the lateral load capacity of unsafe URM piers can be enhanced up to 3.67 times and made safe using the applied retrofitting technique.Further,the retrofitting design methodology and recommendations for application procedures to on-site URM buildings are discussed in detail.

Mucins are vital components contributing to the unique lubrication properties of human whole saliva.For patients receiving medication and or treatment such as diabetes or radiotherapy,xerostomia(dry mouth)is a common with numerous and deleterious side effects.Although products exist on the market to relive the symptoms of Xerostomia there remains a drive to formulate a biocompatible lubricant that replicate the functionality offered by the natural biological environment.Herein,a combination of mucin and thiolated polyethylene glycol(PEG-SH)was proposed as a new saliva substitute.Mucin and PEG-SH molecules could form hydrated layers immediately by chemisorption.Meanwhile,the chemical interactions between mucin and PEG-SH molecules also promoted the formation of a mixed layer.All the pre-formed layers could decrease friction and had the potential to decrease wear,especially mucin and PEG-SH mixed layer when compared to mucin only solutions.Further investigations of tribological mechanism implied that the excellent lubrication performance of mixed layer with long effectiveness was contributed to the frictionreducing effect of PEG/mucin molecules and the mucoadhesive property of mucin.The study provides a guide for using mucin as a mucoadhesive agent to stable lubricative polymers with low molecular weight as novel salivary substitutes for lubrication.

Dear editor,Myelolipomas are uncommon,benign tumors of the adrenal gland that can occasionally attain a large size.These tumors,very rarely,can occur along with renal cell carcinoma[1].We describe the first case of a giant right sided adrenal myelolipoma co-existent with a contralateral renal cell carcinoma,both of which could be operated laparoscopically in the same sitting.

Visible light and photoredox catalysis have emerged as a powerful and long-lasting tool for organic syn-thesis,demonstrating the importance of a variety of chemical bond formation methods.Natural products,physiologically active substances,medicines,and agrochemicals all contain heterocyclic moieties.The impact of visible light-promoted chemistry on the functionalization of heterocycles as well as the syn-thesis and modification of heterocyclic compounds of medicinal importance is summarized in this review.

Gel-polymer electrolytes with high thermal stability and mechanical properties were considered suitable in rechargeable batteries so as to overcome the problems encountered in liquid electrolytes.In a previous study,flexible sodium-ion batteries(FSIBs)were fabri-cated using electrodes made of carbon quantum dots(CQDs)decorated with SnO_(2) and NaVO_(3) utilizing a polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)/P3HT gel-polymer electrolyte at a ratio of 1:0.05.In addition,various separators such as indium-doped tin oxide/polyoxyethylene tridecyl ether(ITO/PTE),rice paper(RP),silicone with three big holes(SIL BH),silicone with many small holes(SIL SH)and cellulose paper(CP)were tested in flexible Na-ion batteries.The SIL SH delivered a high specific discharge capacity of 4246 mAh g^(-1) in the initial cycle at 2 V and maintained a value of 71 mAh g^(-1) in the 50th cycle.With the aim of improving the cyclic ability of FSIBs,different weight ratios of PVA/P3HT(1:0.025,1:0.05,1:0.1,1:0.15,1:0.2)were tried in this work using the electrodes CQDs@SnO_(2) and CQDs@NaVO_(3).The above ratios were referred to as B25,B50,B100,B150 and B200,respectively.SIL SH was used as a separator.Cyclic voltammetry studies indicated that B150 had a high specific capacitance of 13062 F g^(-1).B25 and B100 exhibited high discharge capacities(171 mAh g^(-1))and(151 mAh g^(-1))compared to that of other ratios B50(75 mAh g^(-1)),B150(88 mAh g^(-1))and B200(54 mAh g^(-1))in the 50th cycle at 2.0 V.This study reveals the scope of developing FSIBs of high capacity and cyclability at different voltages using carbonaceous electrodes and gel-polymer electrolytes with different ratios of PVA/P3HT.The focus of the present study is to bring out the optimum ratio of PVA/P3HT for maximizing the cyclic ability of FSIBs.

Purpose:The treatment and outcome of tibial stress fractures concomitant with knee osteoarthritis(OA)are complicated.The aim of this study was to evaluate the functional and radiological outcome of total knee arthroplasty with long tibial stem as a treatment for patients having knee OA and tibial stress fracture.Methods:Patients who were diagnosed to have proximal tibia stress fracture along with knee OA at our institution between June 2013 and November 2018 were included in our study.All patients underwent total knee arthroplasty with long tibial stem.Preoperative and postoperative functional assessments were done according to range of movement of the knee joint,knee society score and knee injury and OA outcome score.Descriptive analysis was carried out by mean and standard deviation for quantitative variables,frequency and proportion for categorical variables.Results:Twelve patients were included in the study.All patients were found to have stress fractures in the proximal half of tibia and extra-arthrosis.Four patients had non-union/delayed union,and 8 patients had acute fractures.The average preoperative range of movement was 88.1°,which improved to 116.3°at 3 months following surgery.It was found that the fracture has healed in all cases.Mean knee society score improved from 32.9 preoperatively to 89.3 at 1 year follow-up.Knee injury and OA outcome score improved from a mean score of 28.3 preoperatively to 81.1 at 1 year follow-up.Conclusion:Stress fractures can occur in the proximal tibia in patients with knee OA.Total knee arthroplasty with tibial stem provides a suitable solution for both conditions.Additional plating or bone graft is unlikely to be required.

Biodiesel-an impressive alternative fuel with favourable physico-chemical properties having environmental benefits-is prepared from vegetable oil.However,the cost is one of the main hurdles in commercializing it.Its production by conventional transesterification processes needs high ambient temperature and a specialized catalyst.Due to the multifaceted adversities of many of the catalysts,there is active consideration for an electrocatalytic process that does not require elevated temperature.In addition,an electrocatalytic process is carried out in the presence or absence of a catalyst or co-solvent.In this review,various parameters such as electrolysis voltage,stirring rate,electrode type,water content,co-solvent type,reaction temperature,reaction duration,oil-to-methanol molar ratio and concentration of NaCl affecting the electrocatalytic transesterification process are presented.
