Antiplasmodial activity of silver nanoparticles: A novel green synthesis approach

Objective:To synthesize silver nanoparticles using silver nitrate by a green technique which involves different compositions of aqueous leaf extracts of Azadirachta indica(neem)and Ocimum sanctum(tulsi).Methods:Their shape and size were determined using transmission electron microscopy and UV-visible *** antiplasmodial activity was studied using the malarial parasite strain(Plasmodium falciparum,3D7).The parasite strain(3D7)was collected and revived in vitro using Trager and Jensen method in RPMI 1640 medium for *** maximal effective concentration values were calculated by nonlinear regression ***:Transmission electron microscopy results confirmed the formation of silver nanoparticles with size ranging from 4.74-39.32 nm and their size differs by varying the concentrations from 20%to 100%of neem extract in neem and tulsi *** was observed that samples B and c showed half maximum effective concentration of about 0.3μ***:It can be easily established that the aqueous leaf extracts of neem and tulsi in combination can be a good source for synthesis of silver nanoparticles with small size possessing appreciable antiplasmodial activity.

Arsenic(As),one of the most harmful toxicant at the global level,severely affects plant metabolism when taken ***,the presence of silicon(Si)as a fertilizer in As-contaminated soil is an effective strategy to decrease As accumulation in *** juncea(***)were grown hydroponically to investigate the role of Si at biochemical and molecular levels under arsenite(As^3+)*** of *** were exposed to As^3+,Si,and a combination of both *** data demonstrated that seedlings exposed to As^3+showed an inhibition in shoot length,chlorophyll,carotenoid,and protein,while co-application of Si improved these growth *** supplementation reduced As accumulation in ***/decrease was observed in stress-related parameters(cysteine and proline),antioxidant enzymes(superoxide dismutase,ascorbate peroxidase,and catalase),and oxidative stress markers(malondialdehyde and H2O2),which were improved upon co-application of Si as compared to As^3+alone *** amplified polymorphic DNA(RAPD)is a suitable biomarker assay for plants for assessing the *** RAPD primers produced a total of 39 and 48 bands in the leaves of the untreated and treated seedlings,*** RAPD band-profiles and genomic template stability were consistent with other growth and physiological *** conclusion,the genotoxic alterations along with the biochemical parameters indicate that the exposure to Si mitigates As^3+-induced oxidative stress by improving the stress-related parameters and antioxidant system in ***.

In present paper, certain aspect of shock wave in non-ideal gas, when magnetic field is orthogonal to the trajectories of the gas particles and electrical conductivity is taken to be infinite, is investigated. considering one-dimensional unsteady non-planer motion, basic equations, its general solution and formation of shock-wave, conservation laws and jumps conditions, variation of area of non-uniform cross section and analytical solution of strong non planer shock is obtained.

AIM: To assess the correlation between blood pressure levels and fasting plasma glucose levels among young adults attending chatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur, ***: The present study was cross-sectional in nature, conducted among students in the Institute of Paramedical Sciences, chatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur. Study subjects included 185 young adults. Among them, 94 were males and 91 were females, in the age group 17 to 19 ***: Mean age among males was 18.5 ± 1.5 years and among females was 17.9 ± 1.8 years. Of the total 185 study subjects, 61(32.9%) were classified as pre-diabetic and 20(10.8%) as pre-hypertensive. Mean waist circumference, systolic blood pressure and serum high density lipoprotein did not vary significantly between normoglycemic and pre-diabetic subjects. However, the mean diastolic blood pressure of pre-diabetics(82 ± 5 mm Hg) was significantly higher than normoglycemics(79 ± 6 mm Hg). Mean serum cholesterol, serum triglycerides, serum low density lipoprotein(LDL) and serum very low density lipoprotein was also higher among pre-diabetic subjects in comparison to normoglycemic subjects and the difference was statistically significant. Upon multiple linear regression analysis, it was observed that body mass index(BMI)(β = 0.149), diastolic blood pressure(β = 0.375) and serum LDL(β = 0.483) were significantly associated with fasting plasma glucose. Multiple linear regression with diastolic blood pressure as the outcome variable showed that BMI(β = 0.219), fasting blood glucose(β = 0.247) and systolic blood pressure(β = 0.510) were significantly ***: A significant prevalence of pre-diabetes and pre-hypertension in young adults is a matter of concern therefore all young adults need to be targeted for screening of diabetes and hypertension and lifestyle modification.

The nature and extent of genetic diversity were assessed among 23 parents of pigeonpea hybrids employing Mahalanobis D2 statistics. Based on relative magnitude of D2, the genotypes were grouped into five different non-overlapping clusters. cluster III, having 8 genotypes, emerged with highest number of entries;cluster I, II and V were constituted by four genotypes each while cluster IV, comprising three genotypes, had least number of entries. The highest contribution in manifestation of genetic divergence was exhibited by 100-seed weight followed by pods per plant, days to maturity, harvest index, biological yield per plant, days to 50% flowering and seed yield per plant. The maximum intra-cluster distance was observed for cluster III, followed by cluster IV, cluster I and cluster V. The highest inter-cluster distance was recorded between cluster II and IV followed by cluster I and IV and cluster V and II. The crossing between entries belonging to cluster pairs having large inter-cluster distance and possessing high cluster means for one or other characters to be improved may be recommended for isolating desirable recombinants in the segregating generations in pigeonpea. considering the mean performance for different characters of genotypes belonging to diverse clusters, the promising genotypes identified were NDA 2, NDA 7-11, IPA 208 and NDA 5-14 of cluster I;NDA 3-3, NDA 98-6, Amar and NDAcMS 1-3A of cluster II;NDAcMS 1-4A, NDAcMS 1-6A and IcP 870 of cluster IV and NDA 96-6, IcP 2155, NDA 8-6 and NDAGc 1010 of cluster V for exploitation as parents in hybridization programme for development of superior pigeonpea hybrid cultivars.

Objective:To identify the clinical,laboratory,and radiological markers that could predict a positive GeneXpert result in patients suspected of tuberculous ***:In this prospective,observational study,patients with tuberculous meningitis were systematically *** clinical,laboratory[including cerebrospinal fluid(cSF)microscopy,culture,and GeneXpert],and neuroimaging factors were *** participants were administered anti-tuberculous treatment and corticosteroids.A six-month follow-up was done to evaluate the ***:Of the 116 patients studied,54(46.6%)tested positive for GeneXpert,while 62(53.4%)were *** cranial nerve involvement(OR 3.71,95%cI 1.052-13.09,P=0.04)and the presence of basal exudates on neuroimaging(OR 5.22,95%cI 2.03-13.42,P=0.001)emerged as independent predictive factors for a positive GeneXpert result.A positive cSF GeneXpert result(P=0.002)and drug resistance(P=0.004)were significantly linked to adverse ***,a high score on the Medical Research council stageⅢ(OR 5.64,95%cI 1.18-26.87,P=0.03)and elevated cSF cell counts(OR 1.002,95%cI 1.00-1.001,P=0.03)were identified as independent predictors of poor ***:Third cranial nerve involvement and the presence of basal exudates were significant indicators of a positive GeneXpert *** stageⅢdisability and elevated cSF cell counts predicted poor outcomes.

Dialeurolonga malleswaramensis Sundararaj （Hemiptera： Aleyrodidae） is a phytophagous sap sucking insect. It infests Polyalthia longifolia, an important avenue tree of India, effective in alleviating noise pollution and having immense medicinal importance. Samples of this insect were collected from Polyalthia longifolia. The cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene （mtcOl） helped in the molecular characterization of the insect. This study reports the bacterial diversity in D. malleswararnensis adults by high throughput 16S rDNA amplicon pyrosequencing. The major genera identified were Portiera and Arsenophonus. Other bacterial genera detected were uncultured alpha proteobacterium, Sphingopyxis and Methylobacterium. We also employed fluorescence in situ hybridization （FISH） in whole mount samples to confirm the presence of dominant endosymbionts Portiera and Arsenophonus to the bacteriocyte of D. malleswaramensis. This study concludes that combining techniques like 16S rDNA amplicon pyrosequencing and FISH reveal both dominant and rare bacteria. The data also predict the evolutionary position of this pest with respect to other whitefly species using a mitochondrial marker.

Development of Mg based biomaterial with improved mechanical and degradation properties using powder metallurgy

In the present work,biocompatible materials such as niobium(Nb),zinc(Zn)and calcium(ca)have been blended with magnesium(Mg)to develop a novel biomaterial(BM)with improved mechanical and corrosion resistant *** metallurgy(PM)technique was used to fabricate Mg based *** powder of all aforementioned materials were mixed homogenously in specific quantities to create a uniform composite *** order to analyse the influence of process parameters on the mechanical properties of the fabricated part,experiments were performed considering central composite design(ccD).The effect of powder metallurgical parameters namely percentage Nb,compaction pressure,heating rate,sintering temperature and soaking time on the ultimate compressive strength(UcS)and sintered density was studied in the present *** was found that the UcS and sintered density increased with increase in compaction pressure,heating rate and sintering *** results also revealed that the increase in soaking time and percentage Nb,increased sintered density and UcS to a certain *** increase in these two parameters,sintered density and UcS *** electron microscopy(SEM)images of the fabricated samples showed reduction in porosity with the increase in heating ***,X-ray diffraction(XRD)results revealed that no other phase or impurities were found during sintering of Mg based *** optimum process parameters were obtained to develop Mg based BM for maximum UcS and sintered ***,the Mg based BM samples fabricated at optimum process parameters were used for corrosion testing in simulated body fluid(SBF)solution at a temperature of 37±0.5℃.The Mg based BM yielded improved mechanical properties with reduced corrosion rates as compared to pure Mg.
