AIM:To develop and validate a questionnaire to evaluate knowledge,attitude and practice of patients diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration(AMD)who have undergone intravitreal injection ***:This study was conducted among patients diagnosed with AMD in Kuala *** generation of the instrument included four phases which included item and domains development,content,face validity and exploratory factor *** validity and modified Kappa was used for validation of knowledge *** factor analysis was used for validation of both attitude and practice *** validity was conducted in 12 patients,content validity was ascertained in 120 patients and test-retest reliability was determined in 39 patients with ***:Content validity index(CVI)and modified kappa showed excellent values for most items in the knowledge domain with CVI for item(I-CVI)values between 0.78-1.0 and Kappa values of>*** Kaiser-MeyerOlkin(KMO)sampling adequacy showed acceptable scores of 0.70 and 0.75 for both attitude and practice domains respectively and Bartlett’s Test of sphericity were significant(χ^(2)=0.00,P0.70 and good test-retest *** final version of the questionnaire consisted of 93 items from four sections consisting of demographic details,knowledge,attitude and ***:The findings of this validation and reliability study show that the developed questionnaire has a satisfactory psychometric property for measuring KAP of patients diagnosed with AMD undergoing intravitreal injection treatment.

Insurance Payer Status and Race Explains Much of the Variability in Colorectal Cancer Survival

Health care inequalities exist for patients with colon cancer. We hypothesize that factors such as payers and medical comorbidities may explain much of this inequality. Methods: Patients with colon cancer in the NCDB from 2003-2010 were identified in this study. Results: 541,649 patients were identified. Median age and survival were 68.6 years and 62.5 months. A majority of them (80.2%) were non-Hispanic white (NHW). African American (AA) and Hispanic (HS) patients were more likely to have medicaid (MD) or be uninsured (UI) and reside in counties with lower socio-economic status (SES). From univariate analysis, it was found that private insurance (PI) had superior survival (98.7 months) compared to MD (46.0 months), medicare (MC) (50.4 months) and UI (54.4 months). Survival was highest for HS (70.9 months) followed by NHW (63.2 months) and AA (53.0 months). Also, survival was linked to comorbidity index (CI), SES, chemotherapy, gender and surgical resection. On multivariate analysis, it was found that male (RR 1.11), SES, surgery (RR 2.29), chemotherapy (RR 1.96), CI, and stage were associated with survival. Race was a predictor of survival, with a survival advantage for HS (RR 0.87) and others (0.87) compared to NHW (1) and AA (1.2). Insurance status was strongly linked to survival. Compared to PI all other groups had poorer survival: MC RR 1.11;MD RR 1.44;and NI RR ***: Inequality in outcomes for colon cancer patients is strongly associated with race and underinsurance.

Objective:To assess healthcare workers’knowledge of novel coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)in the early phase of the outbreak in ***:A cross-sectional survey was conducted in 12 hospitals in Indonesia from March 6 to March 25,*** workers’knowledge on COVID-19 was assessed,and demographic data,workplace characteristics,and medical professional characteristics as well as the current local situation of COVID-19 were *** characterize determinants associated with knowledge,a logistic regression analysis was ***:Out of 288 healthcare workers who completed the interview-assisted questionnaire,149(51.7%)respondents had a good *** and other types of healthcare workers had lower odds of having good knowledge compared to doctors:adjusted odds ratio(aO R):0.38;95%CI:0.20-0.72 and aO R:0.31;95%CI:0.13-0.73,*** to healthcare workers who had medical practice experience less than 5 years,those who had worked for more than 10 years had lower knowledge(a OR:0.43;95%CI:0.20-0.90).Healthcare workers who worked in the infection department had higher knowledge compared to those in the emergency room(aO R:14.33;95%CI:3.67-55.88).Conclusions:The knowledge of COVID-19 among surveyed healthcare workers was relatively *** COVID-19 response in Indonesia will require further education and enhancement of the capacity of healthcare workers in the emergency room where COVID-19 patients may be treated the earliest.

A pilot study on maternal oral health and birth weight of twins

Background: Oral health has been implicated in low birth weight or preterm birth. However, this relationship has not yet been studied in twins. We investigated whether maternal oral health was associated with the birth weights of twins by a cross-sectional study conducted at Helsinki University Central Hospital. Methods: Utilizing linear mixed effect models to recognize the correlation between twins from the same mothers and the independence between different mothers. 40 birth weights of twins were modeled as main outcomes. In model 1, poor periodontal health (PPH) was fitted as the main explanatory variable. In model 2, presence of non-specific oral mucositis (NSOM) was fitted as the main predictor. Results: In model 1, babies from mothers with PPH weighed approximately 158.2 grams less than babies of mothers without PPH. However, this association was not statistically significant (p = 0.11). When a stricter criterion for PPH (3 sites of pocket depth > 4 mm) was used, p-value decreased to 0.09 showing a dose response to PPH. In model 2, mothers with NSOM had babies weighing 224.9 grams less than mothers without these lesions. This was nearly significant (p = 0.08). Conclusion: Although not significant, the results from this small data of twins suggest that maternal oral health may be associated with birth weight of twin neonates. Our results are appropriate to generate hypothesis for future studies.
