Squamous papillomas are common lesions of the oral mucosa with a predilection for the mucosa of the hard and soft palate. As an oral lesion,it raises concern because of its clinical appearance,which may mimic exophytic carcinoma,verrucous carcinoma or condyloma acuminatum. Its pathogenesis is related to human papilloma virus but there is controversy regarding its viral origin. We present a case of squamous papilloma presenting as oral lesion along with a review of the literature.

Tadalafil (TDL) a BCS-II drug is recently reported for repurposing nephroprotective effect in Pyelonephritis (PN). However, poor water solubility and dissolution rate limited oral bioavailability pose serious challenges in its therapeutic applications. We present an advanced third generation Solid Dispersion (SD) of TDL comprising a polymer in combination with a Self Micro-emulsifying Composition (SMEC) to achieve high drug loading, improved stability and rapid dissolution of TDL for enhancing bioavailability and efficacy in PN. TDLSMEC-SD was coated onto rapidly disintegrating inert tablet cores which disintegrated rapidly in water to release SD as a film. TDL-SMEC-SD was evaluated for in-vivo oral bioavailability and in-vivo efficacy in lipopolysaccharide-induced PN in rats. TDL exhibited high solubility (45.6 mg/ml) in the SMEC. TDL-SMEC-SD exhibited remarkably high TDL loading (45%w/w),exceptionally low contact angle (9°), rapid in-vitro release (t50 7.3 min), microemulsion formation(globule size ~100 nm) in aqueous dispersion, and stability as per ICH guidelines.SEM, DSC, and XRD confirmed high physical stability. A relative bioavailability of 350% and 150% compared to TDL and TDL-SD without SMEC respectively, established the superiority of TDL-SMEC-SD. A significant reduction in serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen and nitric oxide levels in the lipopolysaccharide-induced PN confirmed the benefit of the TDL-SMECSD. The advanced third generation SMEC SDs presents the possibility of platform technology for bioenhancement of poorly water soluble drugs.

Lysosomes are discrete organelles that act as recycling centers for extracellular and intracellular materials,playing a pivotal role in maintaining cellular homeostasis.Their acidic environment,maintained by numerous hydrolytic enzymes,facilitates substrate degradation.Dysfunction in lysosomal processes can lead to abnormal substrate degradation,significantly impacting cellular homeostasis.High energy-demanding cells,such as post-mitotic neurons,are especially vulnerable to these changes,often resulting in neurological diseases.Autophagy,a conserved catabolic process,requires extensive lysosomal utilization.It plays a key role in removing unnecessary intracellular components,ensuring cellular homeostasis,and promoting cell survival during stress conditions such as starvation,infection,or cellular damage.

Infectious diseases(e.g.,coronavirus disease 2019)dramatically impact human life,economy and social development.Exploring the low-cost and energy-saving approaches is essential in removing infectious virus particles from indoors,such as in classrooms.The application of air purification devices,such as negative ion generators(ionizers),gains popularity because of the favorable removal capacity for particles and the low operation cost.However,small and portable ionizers have potential disadvantages in the removal efficiency owing to the limited horizontal diffusion of negative ions.This study aims to investigate the layout strategy(number and location)of ionizers based on the energy-efficient natural ventilation in the classroom to improve removal efficiency(negative ions to particles)and decrease infection risk.Three infected students were considered in the classroom.The simulations of negative ion and particle concentrations were performed and validated by the experiment.Results showed that as the number of ionizers was 4 and 5,the removal performance was largely improved by combining ionizer with natural ventilation.Compared with the scenario without an ionizer,the scenario with 5 ionizers largely increased the average removal efficiency from around 20%to 85%and decreased the average infection risk by 23%.The setup with 5 ionizers placed upstream of the classroom was determined as the optimal layout strategy,particularly when the location and number of the infected students were unknown.This work can provide a guideline for applying ionizers to public buildings when natural ventilation is used.
