Compared to reforming reactions using hydrocarbons,ethanol steam reforming(ESR)is a sustainable alternative for hydrogen(H_(2))production since ethanol can be produced sustainably using *** work explores the catalyst design strategies for preparing the ni supported on ZSM-5 zeolite catalysts to promote ***,two-dimensional ZSM-5 nanosheet and conventional ZSM-5 crystal were used as the catalyst carriers and two synthesis strategies,i.e.,in situ encapsulation and wet impregnation method,were employed to prepare the *** on the comparative characterization of the catalysts and comparative catalytic assessments,it was found that the combination of the in situ encapsulation synthesis and the ZSM-5 nanosheet carrier was the effective strategy to develop catalysts for promoting H_(2) production via ESR due to the improved mass transfer(through the 2-D structure of ZSM-5 nanosheet)and formation of confined small ni nanoparticles(resulted via the in situ encapsulation synthesis).In addition,the resulting ZSM-5 nanosheet supported ni catalyst also showed high ni dispersion and high accessibility to ni sites by the reactants,being able to improve the activity and stability of catalysts and suppress metal sintering and coking during ESR at high reaction ***,the ni supported on ZSM-5 nanosheet catalyst prepared by encapsulation showed the stable performance with~88% ethanol conversion and~65% H_(2) yield achieved during a 48-h longevity test at 550-C.

Powdered activated carbon (PAC) prepared from Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehn. bark was tested for its adsorption capacity for Cu(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ). The experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of pH, contact time, initial metal concentration, and temperature. Influence of particle size and salinity on adsorption of basic dyes by agricultural waste: dried Seagrape (Caulerpa lentillifera)

Green macroalga Caulerpa lentillifera was found to have reasonable adsorption capacity for basic dyes, Astrazon Blue FGRL （AB）, Astrazon Red GTLn （AR）, and Astrazon Golden Yellow GL-E （AY）. The initial dye concentration was in the range of 100-1,800 mg/L. The dried algal sorbent was ground and sieved into 3 sizes： S （0.1-0.84 mm）, M （0.84-2.0 mm）, and L sizes （larger than 2.0 mm）. For all conditions examined in this work （at 25℃ in batch systems）, the adsorption reached equilibrium within the first hour. The kinetic data corresponded well with the pseudo second order kinetic model where the rate constant, k2, decreased as the sorbent size increased for all dyes. The adsorption isotherms followed both Langmuir and Freundlich models. Among three sorbent sizes, S size gave the highest adsorption capacity followed by M and L sizes. A reduction of sorbent size increased the specific surface area for mass transfer, and also increased the total pore volume, thus providing more active sites for adsorption. The adsorption of AB was adversely influenced by the protonation of algal surface at low pH. On the other hand, the adsorption of AR and AY could be due to weak electrostatic interaction, which was not significantly affected by pH. Increasing salinity of the system caused a decrease in adsorption capacity possibly due to the competition between na^＋ and the dye cations for the binding sites on algal surface. Moreover, an increase in salinity generated a compressed electrical double layer on the algal surface which exerted repulsive force, retarding the adsorption of positive charged molecules such as the basic dyes.

Development of high volume rice husk ash alumino silicate composites

The development of high volume rice husk ash （RHA） alumino silicate composites （ASC） was studied. RHA was used as the source of silica and aluminium in the ASC. The mass ratios of RHA：Al（OH）3 of 70：30 to 99：1 were tested. The results indicate that the obtained ASC mortars are not stable and disintegrate in water. Boric acid was introduced to the mixture to overcome this problem. Stable ASC mortars with high RHA：Al（OH）3 mass ratios of 90：10 to 97.5：2.5 were obtained with the use of boric acid and 115oC curing. The compressive strength of the mortar of 20 MPa was gained. The immersion test indicates that high volume RHA ASC mortars show good resistance in 3vol% H2SO4 solution, but is slightly less durable in 5wt% MgSO4 solution.

Thermal parameters are important variables that have great influence on life time of turbine ***,accurate prediction of the thermal parameters is *** this study,a numerical approach for conjugate heat transfer(CHT)and computational fluid dynamics(CFD)is used to investigate thermal sensitivity of a transonic guide vane which is fully film-cooled by 199 film *** barrier coating(TBC),i.e.,the typical TBC and a new one as the candidate TBC,and turbulence intensity(Tu),i.e.,Tu=3.3%,10%and 20%,are two variables used for the present *** first the external surface temperatures of the vane material are ***,the TBC surface temperatures are *** show the major role of the lower thermal conductivity of TBC which results in the lower and more uniform temperature on the external surface of the vane ***,the thermal sensitivity is presented in terms of the percentage reduction of the external surface temperatures of the vane material and the structural temperatures of the vane material at midspan,including the variations of average and maximum vane *** show that TBC and Tu have significant effects on the external surface and structural temperatures of the vane *** lower thermal conductivity of TBC leads to the higher difference between the thermal conductivity of the vane substrate and TBC,the reduction of heat transfer and the more uniform temperature within the vane *** results also show more effective protection for the average vane temperature from the two TBCs at higher ***,Tu does not significantly affect the reduction of the maximum vane temperature even though the new TBC,which has the very low thermal conductivity,is used.

Human intestinal capillariasis in Thailand

Intestinal capillariasis caused by Capillaria philippinensis appeared first in the Philippines and subsequently in Thailand,Japan,Iran,Egypt and Taiwan; major outbreaks have occurred in the Philippines and Thailand. This article reviews the epidemiology,history and sources of C. philippinensis infection in Thailand. The annual epidemiological surveillance reports indicated that 82 accumulated cases of intestinal capillariasis were found in Thailand from 1994-2006. That made Thailand a Capillaria-prevalent area. Sisaket,in northeast Thailand,was the first province which has reported intestinal capillariasis. Moreover,Buri Ram presented a high prevalence of intestinal capillariasis,totaling 24 cases from 1994-2006. About half of all cases have consumed raw or undercooked fish. However,even if the numbers of the intestinal capillariasis cases in Thailand is reduced,C. philippinensis infection cases are still reported. The improvement of personal hygiene,specifically avoiding consumption of undercooked fish and promoting a health education campaign are required. These strategies may minimize or eliminate C. philippinensis infection in Thailand.

Active Fischer-Tropsch synthesis Fe-Cu-K/SiO_2 catalysts prepared by autocombustion method without a reduction step

The purpose of this study was to prepare iron-based catalysts supported on silica by autocombustion method for directly using for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis（FTS） without a reduction step. The effect of different citric acid（CA）：iron nitrate（n） molar ratios and acid types on the FTS performance of catalysts were investigated. The CA：n molar ratios had an important influence on the formation of iron active phases and FTS activity. The iron carbide（FexC）, which is known to be one of the iron active phases, was demonstrated by the X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Increasing the CA：n molar ratios up to 0.1 increased CO conversion of catalyst to 86.5%, which was then decreased markedly at higher CA：n molar ratios. An excess of CA resulted in carbon residues covering the catalyst surface and declined FTS activity. The optimal catalyst（CA：n molar ratio = 0.1） achieved the highest CO conversion when compared with other autocombustion catalysts as well as reference catalyst prepared by impregnation method, followed by a reduction step. The autocombustion method had the advantage to synthesize more efficient catalysts without a reduction step. More interestingly, iron-based FTS catalysts need induction duration at the initial stage of FTS reaction even after reduction, because metallic iron species need time to be transformed to FexC. But here, even if without reduction, FexC was formed directly by autocombustion and induction period was eliminated during FTS reaction.

Design of porous Eudragit^(■)L beads for floating drug delivery by wax removal technique

The aim of this study was to design porous matrix beads for floating drug delivery using enteric polymer, Eudragit~? L and various amounts of waxes(0, 0.1, 0.5, 1, 2 and 3% w/w). In this study, wax containing cetyl alcohol and white petrolatum was utilized to produce pores using a wax removal technique. To prepare the beads, Eudragit~? L, metronidazole and wax were dissolved in acetone and then extruded into dichloromethane. The effect of the amount of wax on the floating and drug release behavior of the Eudragit~? L beads was *** the extruded product was immersed in dichloromethane, wax dissolved out from the formed beads, resulting in a porous structure. The prepared beads could float in simulated gastric fluid for more than 10 hours. Different amounts of wax had an effect on the drug release. We found that when the percentage of wax increased, the drug release was higher while the beads remained floating. The results suggest that Eudragit~? L beads could be used as a carrier for an intragastric floating drug delivery system.

Application of carbon nanotubes prepared from CH_(4)/CO_(2) over ni/MgO catalysts in CO_(2) capture using a BEA-AMP bi-solvent blend

Carbon nanotubes(CnTs)were synthesized by the chemical vapour deposition of methane and carbon dioxide over a ni/MgO *** synthesized CnTs were then mixed with K/MgO catalyst at different ratios and used as the catalyst for CO_(2) absorption in butylethanolamine-2-amino-2-methyl-l-propanol bi-solvent *** catalysts were characterized using X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,butylethanolamine,thermal gravimetric analysis and temperature-programmed desorption of carbon dioxide in order to determine the characteristics responsible for good CO_(2)-absorption *** results showed that,with the addition of a catalyst into the amine solution,the amine reached equilibrium CO_(2) loading faster than without a ***,the increase in the CnT content of the KMgO/CnTs catalyst made the CO_(2) absorption reach equilibrium much more quickly compared with just KMgO alone and without a *** KMgO/CnTs at a ratio of 1:4 yielded the fastest time to reach CO_(2)-loading equilibrium at 240 min,which was mainly due to the increase in strong basic sites as well as the highest total basic sites with an increase in CnT *** addition,because of the extremely large specific surface area and pore volume generated due to the CnT,the number of exposed active centres per unit mass increased tremendously,leading to a corresponding tremendous increase in CO_(2) absorption.
