Renewable fuels have many advantages over fossil fuels because they are biodegradable and sustainable,and help mitigate social and environmental problems.The objective of the present study is to evaluate the performance,combustion,and emission characteristics of a compression–ignition engine using hydrogen compressed natural gas(HCNG)-enriched Kusum seed biodiesel blend(KSOBD20).The flow rate of HCNG was set at 5 L/min,10 L/min,and 15 L/min,and the injection pressure was varied in the range of 180 bar to 240 bar.Brake thermal efficiency(BTE)and brake-specific fuel consumption(BSFC)were improved when HCNG was added to the KSOBD20.Combustion characteristics,namely,cylinder pressure(CP)and net heat release rate(NHRR),were also improved.Emissions of carbon monoxide(CO),hydrocarbons(HC),and smoke were also reduced,with the exception of nitrogen oxides(NO_(x)).The higher injection pressure(240 bar)had a positive effect on the operating characteristics.At an injection pressure of 240 bar,for KSOB20+15 L/min HCNG,the highest BTE and the lowest BSFC were found to be 32.09%and 0.227 kg/kWh,respectively.Also,the CP and NHRR were 69.34 bar and 66.04 J/°.CO,HC,and smoke levels were finally reduced to 0.013%,47×10^(-6)and 9%,respectively,with NO_(x)levels at 1623×10^(-6).For optimum results in terms of engine characteristics,the fuel combination KSOBD20+15 L/min HCNG at FIP 240 bar is recommended.

The challenges in the current energy consumption patterns and demand–supply gap are driving the need to develop commercially viable and sustainable alternative fuels that are eco-friendly and efficient.Given the existing alternatives,hydrogen is regarded as the ultimate carbon-less clean and green fuel with high energy density.Considerable efforts are being made to develop catalysts/photo-catalysts for the efficient production of hydrogen from abundantly available water resources via water-splitting process.In this review,the photocatalytic activity of tin oxide-based hybrid photocatalytic materials for increased hydrogen production has been studied.The existing bottlenecks and proposed solutions have also been discussed.

Increasing demands for improvement in power quality and power capacity have contributed to development of switched-capacitor multilevel inverters(SCMLIs).Recently developed SCMLIs enable single-stage voltage boosting,as well as inversion resulting in step-up ac output.Towards reduction in number of components,this paper introduces a boost type singlesource nine-level(9-level)SCMLI employing two capacitors and three diodes.Owing to the series-parallel connection process,capacitor voltages are inherently balanced and assist in quadruple voltage boosting from a single-source.Maximum voltage stress across semiconductor devices is limited to twice input voltage only.Using a minimum number of components,the proposed SCMLI can be extended to increase voltage levels without additional dc input.Each extension module adds two additional voltage steps in the output while maintaining maximum voltage stress the same as 9-level circuit.Followed by in-depth analysis of circuit operation and power losses,a thorough comparison of recently developed single-phase 9-level MLIs is carried out,which verifies design superiority.Extensive simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the prominent features of the 9-level SCMLI under dynamic operating conditions.

The current paper focuses on the prediction of residual stresses and distortions in the Laser Powder Bed Fusion(LPBF)built Ti6Al4V thin-walled geometries using Ansys Additive Print(AAP)software which employs a layer-by-layer accumulation of inherent strain to calculate the deformations.Isotropic and anisotropic strain scaling factors were calibrated initially within the APP software for the Ti6Al4V based single cantilever beam geometry.Subsequently,the numerical simulations were performed in APP software and computed the residual stresses and distortions for the varied process parameters including laser power,scan speed and hatch distance while maintaining the layer thickness constant for all the design iterations.The numerical predictions were compared;they were found to match reasonably well with the XRD measurements within the calibrated regime.

In this paper,we prove fixed point theorem for weakly contractive mappings using locally T-transitivity of binary relation and presenting an analogous version of Harjani and Sadarangani theorem involving more general relation theoretic metrical notions.Our fixed point results under universal relation reduces to Harjani and Sadarangani[Nonlinear Anal.,71(2009),3403-3410]fixed point theorems.In this way we also generalize some of the recent fixed point theorems for weak contraction in the existing literature.

This multilevel inverter methodology is the center of focus among researchers in recent era.It has been focused due to its advantages over existing topologies,drawbacks and improvement of power quality,Multi-level inverter has the ability to generate nearly sinusoidal waves.This sinusoidal wave can be further improved by increasing the level of output voltage or with the help of filter design,and this manuscript presents single-phase Multi cell Multi-Level Inverter(MLI).It has been considered for reducing component count to get a higher number of output voltage levels and lower Total harmonics distortion profile.It comprises with four symmetric DC input voltage and 10 IGBT switches to produces stepped output of 9 level,and when deploy asymmetric Dc voltage source the same circuit will produce 31 level output with some changes in firing scheme,moreover this circuit is the family of cascaded hybrid bridge inverter so this circuit covered advantage of CHB MLI,This circuit uses lower no.of switch as compared to existing conventional MLIs such as FC-MLI,CHB-MLI,NPC-MLI,This paper also provides one of most pertinent controls and modulation mechanisms for a MLI using a hybrid reference/carrier-oriented sinusoidal PWM mechanism.At last,simulated outcomes are to validate the performance of both architectures in MLI structure as well as verify the concept.

A vortex tube silt ejector is a curative hydraulic structure used to remove sediment deposits from canals and is recognized as one of the most efficient substitutes for physically removing canal sediment. The spatially varied flow in the channel and the rotational flow behavior in the tube make the silt removal process complex. It is even harder to accurately predict the silt removal efficiency by traditional models accurately. However, artificial intelligence(AI) and machine learning approaches have emerged as robust substitutes for studying complex processes. Therefore, this research makes use of AI approaches; support vector machine(SVM), random forest(RF), random tree(RT), and multivariate adaptive regression spline(MARS) to compute the vortex tube silt ejection efficiency using the laboratory data sets. The outcomes of the artificial intelligence(AI)-based techniques also were compared with traditional models. It was found that the RT model(root mean square error, RMSE = 2.165, Nash Sutcliffe efficiency, NSE = 0.98) outperforms the other applied approaches which had relatively more significant result errors. The sensitivity analysis of the process depicts the extraction ratio as the key parameter in the computation of vortex tube silt ejector removal efficiency. The findings of the AI-based approaches discussed in the current study might be helpful for hydraulic engineers as well as researchers in the assessment of the removal efficiency of vortex tube silt ejectors.

Software-defined networking is one of the progressive and prominent innovations in Information and Communications Technology.It mitigates the issues that our conventional network was experiencing.However,traffic data generated by various applications is increasing day by day.In addition,as an organization’s digital transformation is accelerated,the amount of information to be processed inside the organization has increased explosively.It might be possible that a Software-Defined Network becomes a bottleneck and unavailable.Various models have been proposed in the literature to balance the load.However,most of the works consider only limited parameters and do not consider controller and transmission media loads.These loads also contribute to decreasing the performance of Software-Defined Networks.This work illustrates how a software-defined network can tackle the load at its software layer and give excellent results to distribute the load.We proposed a deep learning-dependent convolutional neural networkbased load balancing technique to handle a software-defined network load.The simulation results show that the proposed model requires fewer resources as compared to existing machine learning-based load balancing techniques.

Fatty acids of Pleurotus florida mushroom:Potential molecules for blood glucose control

In Vitro-In Vivo antidiabetic effect of Pleurotus florida mycelia was evaluated using enzymes,yeast cell and in streptozotocin induced type 2 diabetic(T2D)animal model.P.florida mycelia was prepared by submerged fermentation process.The fungal biomass was organically extracted using mixture of ethanol and water.Highest extractives yield of 14.3%w/w was obtained in hydroalcoholic solvent with dielectric constant-δvalue of 78.2(EX78).P.florida mycelia extract(EX 78)shows higher antioxidant power with 86.87%free radical scavenging activity and with 75.29 reducing power.In-vitroα-amylase inhibition,α-glucosidase inhibition and glucose uptake activity of EX 78 shows higher effectiveness.The P.florida mycelia extract(EX 78)is also found to be effective in controlling of blood glucose and insulin level in streptozotocin-nicotinamide induced T2D animals.The blood glucose was reduced to 216±6.21 mg/dl from 357±0.34 mg/dl and the insulin level was increased to 0.423±0.006 ng per mL from 0.164±0.03 ng/mL in P.florida treated animals.The higher fatty acids,C20-eicosane;C24-tetracosane and C30-squalene present in P.florida mycelium extract was found to be effective in inhibiting human intestinalα-glucosidase and pancreaticα-amylase.The P.florida mushroom is found to be effective in controlling high blood glucose elevated liver and cardiac enzymes.Consumption of this mushroom is suitable for controlling blood glucose level in person with hyperglycaemia.

Feasibility of telemedicine program using a hand-held nonmydriatic retinal camera in Panama

AIM: To evaluate the image quality of a telemedicine screening program for retinal disease using a nonmydriatic camera among rural island communities in Bocas del Toro, Panama.METHODS: In June 2018, a group of three medical students volunteered at clinics operated by the Floating Doctors in the province of Bocas del Toro, Panama. Nonmydriatic images of the retina were obtained using the Pictor Plus(Volk Optical, Mentor OH), randomized, and sent to two board-certified ophthalmologists at the University of California, Irvine for analysis using a modified version of the FOTO-ED scale. Inter-rater reliability was calculated using the kappa statistic.RESULTS: Seventy patients provided a total of 127 images. Average image quality was 3.31, and most frequent image quality was 4/5 on the FOTO-ED scale. Thirty patients had at least one eye image with ideal quality(42.86%), while only one patient had no adequate photos taken(1.43%). However, high quality images were obtained in both eyes in only 12 patients(17.14%). The inter-rater reliability between the two ophthalmologists was 0.614.CONCLUSION: Further improvements are necessary to acquire higher quality images more reliably. This may include further training and experience or mydriasis.
