Mesoporous carbon adsorbents from melamine–formaldehyde resin using nanocasting technique for CO_2 adsorption

Mesoporous carbon adsorbents, having high nitrogen content, were synthesized via nanocasting technique with melamine-formaldehyde resin as precursor and mesoporous silica as template. A series of adsorbents were prepared by varying the carbonization temperature from 400 to 700°C. Adsorbents were characterized thoroughly by nitrogen sorption, X-ray diffraction（XRD）, scanning electron microscopy（SEM）, transmission electron microscopy（TEM）, thermogravimetric analysis（TGA）, elemental（CHN） analysis, Fourier transform infrared（FTIR） spectroscopy and Boehm titration. Carbonization temperature controlled the properties of the synthesized adsorbents ranging from surface area to their nitrogen content, which play major role in their application as adsorbents for CO2 *** nanostructure of these materials was confirmed by XRD and TEM. Their nitrogen content decreased with an increase in carbonization temperature while other properties lik. surface area, pore volume, thermal stability and surface basicity increased with the carbonization temperature. These materials were evaluated for CO2 adsorption by fixed-bed column adsorption experiments. Adsorbent synthesized at 700°C was found to have the highest surface area and surface basicity along with maximum CO2 adsorption capacity among the synthesized adsorbents. Break.hrough time and CO2 equilibrium adsorption capacity were investigated from the break.hrough curves and were found to decrease with increase in adsorption temperature. Adsorption process for carbon adsorbent-CO2 system was found to be reversible with stable adsorption capacity over four consecutive adsorption-desorption cycles. From three isotherm models used to analyze the equilibrium data, Temk.n isotherm model presented a nearly perfect fit implying the heterogeneous adsorbent surface.

The zeta potential and cationic demands of various k.aft pulps - unbleached, bleached and beaten to different freeness levels were determined in the laboratory. The zeta potential of pulp where the final stage was a lignin degrading and dissolving treatment such as alk.line extraction or hypochlorite was lower than the unbleached pulp. The cationic demand of unbleached pulp was higher compared to that of bleached pulp. Beaten pulps showed larger cationic demands than the unbeaten pulps, which can be attributed to the larger specific surface area of pulp components. Fibres become increasingly electronegative when beaten and therefore cationic demand of pulps increases with beating. When the zeta potential method is used with furnishes of different freeness, the linear relationship is observed. However, the slope is decreasing with the decrease in freeness of the pulp.

Experimental and numerical study of effecting core configurations on the static and dynamic behavior of honeycomb plate with aluminum material

The sandwich panel incorporated a honeycomb core, a widely utilized composite structure recognized as a fundamental classification of composite materials. Comprised a core resembling a honeycomb, possessing thick.ess and softness, and is flank.by rigid face sheets that sandwich various shapes and materials. This paper presents an examination of the static and dynamic analysis of lightweight plates made of aluminum honeycomb sandwich composites. Honeycomb sandwich plate samples are 300 mm long, and 300 mm wide, the heights of the core have been varied at four values ranging from 10 to 25 mm. The honeycomb core is manufactured from Aluminum material by using a novel technique namely resistance spot welding (RSW) instead of using adhesive material, which is often used when an industrial flaw is detected. Numerical optimization based on response surface methodology (RSM) and design of experiment software (DOE) was used to verify the current work. A theoretical examination of the crashworthiness behavior (maximum bending load, maximum deflection) and vibration attributes (natural frequency, damping ratio, transient temporal response) of honeycomb sandwich panels with different design parameters was also carried out. In addition, the finite element method-based ANSYS software was used to confirm the theoretical conclusions. The findings of the present work.showed that the relationship between the natural frequency, core height, and cell size is direct. In contrast, the relationship between the natural frequency and the thick.ess of the cell wall is inverse. Conversely, the damping ratio is inversely proportional to the core height and cell size but directly proportional to the thick.ess of the cell wall. The study indicates that altering the core height within 10-25 mm leads to a significant increase of 82 % in the natural frequency and a notable decrease of 49% in the damping ratio. These findings are based on a specific cell size value of 0.01 m and a cell wall thick.es
