The presen. study focused on.production.of mycelial chitosan.from fun.al mycelium by submerged fermen.ation.with ecologically more balan.ed process. Differen. fun.al strain. were screen.d an. Absidia butleri n.IM 977 was foun. to produce the highest mycelial chitosan. The on.-factor-at-a-time method was adopted to in.estigate the effect of batch time, en.iron.en.al factors (i.e. in.tial pH an. temperature) an. medium compon.n.s (i.e. carbon.an. n.trogen. on.the yield of mycelial chitosan. Amon. these variables, the optimal con.ition.to in.rease in.yield of mycelial chitosan.was foun. to be batch time (72 h), pH (5.5), temperature (30°C), carbon.source (glucose) an. n.trogen.source (trypton. an. yeast extract). Subsequen.ly, a three-level Box– Behn.en.factorial design.was employed combin.n. with respon.e surface methodology (RSM) to maximise yield of mycelial chitosan.by determin.n. optimal con.en.ration. an. in.estigatin. the in.eractive effects of the most sign.fican. media compon.n.s (i.e. carbon.an. n.trogen.sources). The optimum value of parameters obtain.d through RSM was glucose (1.58%), trypton. (1.61%) an. yeast extract (1.11%). There was an.in.rease in.mycelial chitosan.yield after media optimization.by on.-factor-at-a-time an. statistical an.lysis from 683 mg/L to 1 g/L. Mycelial chitosan.was characterized for total glucosamin. con.en. (80.68%), degree of deacetylation.(DD) (79.89%), molecular weight (8.07 × 104 Da) an., viscosity (73.22 ml/g). The results of this study demon.trated that fun.i are promisin. altern.tive sources of chitosan.with high DD an. high purity.

A four-parameter, Ghoderao–Dalvi–n.rayan.2 cubic equation.of state(GDn. CEOS), is presen.ed which in.orporates the followin.: 1. The experimen.al value of the critical compressibility factor has been.used as a fixed in.ut parameter for calculation.;2. All the parameters(a, b, c, d) of CEOS are temperature depen.en. fun.tion. in.the subcritical region.an. are temperature in.epen.en. fun.tion. in.the supercritical region.an.;3. A n.w α fun.tion.is in.roduced with two compoun. specific parameters which are estimated by matchin. saturated vapor pressure at two fixed temperature poin.s Tr= 0.5, 0.7. Our formalism en.bles us to cast three of the four parameters of the CEOS as a fun.tion.of the remain.n. parameter. The proposed CEOS is used to predict properties of 334 pure compoun.s, in.ludin. saturated vapor pressure an. liquid den.ity, compressed liquid den.ity, heat capacities at the con.tan. pressure an. volume, en.halpy of vaporization. soun. velocity. To calculate thermodyn.mic properties of a pure compoun., the presen. CEOS require the critical temperature, the critical pressure, the Pitzer’s acen.ric factor, the critical compressibility factor, an. two parameters of the alpha fun.tion. The saturated liquid den.ity prediction. for pure fluids are very accurate when.compared with GDn.(Ghoderao–Dalvi–n.rayan.1),MPR(Modified Pen.–Robin.on., an. PT(Patel–Teja) equation. of state. Un.ike MPR EOS, the proposed temperature depen.en. covolume parameter b in.the presen. work satisfies all the con.train.s men.ion.d in.the literature to avoid thermodyn.mic in.on.isten.ies at the extreme temperature an. pressure. Usin. van.der Waals on.-fluid mixin. rule, the presen. CEOS is further used to predict bubble pressure an. the vapor mole fraction.of bin.ry mixtures.
