Photovoltaic solar thin films zinc telluride studies on chemically deposited have been carried out to assess its suitability for use in the conversion of solar energy to electrical energy. The configuration of fabricated cell is n-ZnTe| NaOH (0.1M) + S (0.1M) + Na2S (0.1M)|C(graphite). The study shows that ZnTe thin films are n-type conductivity. The junction ideality factor was found to be 2.87. The flat band potential is found to be -0.652 V. The barrier height value was found to be 0.583 eV. The study of the power output characteristic shows open circuit voltage, short circuit current, fill factor and efficiency were found to be 150 mV, 25.6 μA, 24.86% and 0.49%, respectively. The photovoltaic cell characterization of the thin films is carried out by studying current-voltage characteristics in dark, capacitance-voltage in dark, barrier height measurements, power output characteristics.

Distribution of different forms of sulphur(S)and carbon-nitrogen-sulphur relationships were studied in surface and subsurface soils of some tea growing areas of Northeastern *** soils were strongly acidic in reaction(pH-4.0 to 5.5),low to very high in organic carbon(4 to 54 g k.^-1),with cation exchange capacity(8.8 to 19.2 cmol(p+)k.^-1)and base saturation(50 to 77%).Organic S mostly contributed to the total-sulphur(62 to 77%)followed by Non sulphate S(28.8 to 37.2%)and sulphate S(0.7 to 1.4%).Except sulphate S,other forms of sulphur showed significant positive correlation among themselves as well as with organic carbon and total *** C:N,C:S,N:S and C:N:S ratio varied from 8.2 to 10.0,6.18 to 71.57,0.62 to 7.26 and 100:10.1:1.4 to 100:12.2:16.2 *** C:N:S ratios in all the surface and sub-surface soils indicated that the major portion of nitrogen and sulphur in tea growing soils of Northeastern India is lock.d up in organic combination which might pose as a potential threat towards tea plantation if application of sulphur is continuously ignored.

Back.round: Data are lack.on predicting features of meningitis in diarrheal children although the great clinical importance. Objective: To evaluate clinical and laboratory features in predicting meningitis in under-fifteen children having diarrheal illnesses. Methods: Children aged 1 month to 15 years, admitted in the ICU of the Dhak. Hospital of icddr, b between March 2011 and February 2012 with fever and seizure or altered consciousness and having LP done were enrolled into this analysis. Those children who had abnormal CSF findings [pleocytosis (normal range of leuk.cyte, 0 - 10/mm3) and/or elevated protein (normal range, 0.10 - 0.45 mg/dl) and low glucose (normal value, 60% of corresponding blood glucose)] were defined as meningitis. Comparison was made between children with (cases = 17) and without meningitis (controls = 66) from our study children. Data were retrospectively collected from SHEBA, an online database system of the Dhak. Hospital of icddr, b. Results: Death was significantly higher among the cases compared to the controls (29% vs. 3%, p = 0.003). In logistic regression analysis, after adjusting for potential confounders, cases frequently had hypoxemia (95% CI 1.55 - 21.93), absent peripheral pulse (95% CI 1.95 - 27.13) and neutrophilia (95% CI 1.13 - 17.00). Conclusion: Our data suggest that children with meningitis had higher case fatality rate. Simple independent predictors of meningitis such as hypoxemia, absent peripheral pulse, and neutrophilia may help clinicians to initiate early and prompt management in order to curve lifelong sequel due to meningitis and death in such patient population especially those in resource poor settings.

为探讨花岗岩废料的再生利用问题,以水玻璃和氢氧化钠为碱性激发剂,利用花岗岩和矿渣制备花岗岩基碱激发材料代替水泥,降低水泥生产过程中的二氧化碳排放,进而实现“碳达峰、碳中和”目标。通过力学性能试验和微观测试研究矿渣掺量、水玻璃掺量、氢氧化钠掺量、液固比等因素对花岗岩基碱激发材料性能的影响。结果表明:花岗岩/矿渣复合基碱激发材料具有良好的力学性能,在配比范围内,该碱激发材料的抗压强度随着矿渣掺量和水玻璃掺量的增加而增大。同时氢氧化钠掺量对该碱激发材料的抗压强度有显著影响,液固比对于抗压强度也有一定的影响。此外,花岗岩/矿渣复合基碱激发材料的强度主要由矿渣提供,花岗岩粉末主要起填充作用。

During the prodromal stage of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), neurodegenerative changes can be identified by measuring volumetric loss in AD-prone brain regions on MRI. Cognitive assessments that are sensitive enough to measure the early brain-behavior manifestations of AD and that correlate with biomark.rs of neurodegeneration are needed to identify and monitor individuals at risk.for dementia. Weak.sensitivity to early cognitive change has been a major limitation of traditional cognitive assessments. In this study, we focused on expanding our previous work.by determining whether a digitized cognitive stress test, the Loewenstein-Acevedo Scales for Semantic Interference and Learning, Brief Computerized Version (LASSI-BC) could differentiate between Cognitively Unimpaired (CU) and amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment (aMCI) groups. A second focus was to correlate LASSI-BC performance to volumetric reductions in AD-prone brain regions. Data was gathered from 111 older adults who were comprehensively evaluated and administered the LASSI-BC. Eighty-seven of these participants (51 CU;36 aMCI) underwent MR imaging. The volumes of 12 AD-prone brain regions were related to LASSI-BC and other memory tests correcting for False Discovery Rate (FDR). Results indicated that, even after adjusting for initial learning ability, the failure to recover from proactive semantic interference (frPSI) on the LASSI-BC differentiated between CU and aMCI groups. An optimal combination of frPSI and initial learning strength on the LASSI-BC yielded an area under the ROC curve of 0.876 (76.1% sensitivity, 82.7% specificity). Further, frPSI on the LASSI-BC was associated with volumetric reductions in the hippocampus, amygdala, inferior temporal lobes, precuneus, and posterior cingulate.

Solar cell technology comes with unique temperature coefficients. These temperature coefficients are important and temperature of the solar cell has direct influence on the power output of a photovoltaic cells. CdTe is a very robust and chemically stable material and for this reason its related solar cell. Thin film photovoltaic technology is now the only thin film technology in the first top 10 producers in the world. The strong improvement in efficiency in the last 7 years was obtained by a new redesign of the CdTe solar cell device reaching a single solar cell. In this paper, we describe the fabrication process following the history of the solar cell as it was developed in the early years up to the latest development and changes. The configuration of fabricated cell is n-CdTe/NaOH (0.15 M) + S (0.15 M) + Na2S (0.15 M)/C(graphite). The junction ideality factor was found to be 2.63, 2.13, and 1.89. The flat band potential is found to be -0.400, -0.450, -0.501 V. The barrier height value was found to be 0.523, 0.487, and 0.436 eV. The study of power output characteristic shows open circuit voltage, short circuit current, fill factor and efficiency were found to be 120 mV, 24.2 μA, 32.68%, 26.18%, and 19.73% and 0.63%, 0.37%, and 0.23%, respectively. The lighted ideality factor was calculated and found to be 3.26, 1.87, and 1.17. Spectra attain maximum value of current at λ = 580 nm and decrease with increase in wavelength. The photovoltaic cell characterization of the thin films is carried out by studying current-voltage characteristics in dark. capacitance-voltage in dark. barrier height measurements, power output characteristics.

N,3.90 k. P2O5 and 5.22 k. *** the present investigation,the requirement of N was higher which is followed by k.O and *** requirement of N was 2.62 times higher than P and 1.95 times higher than *** percent contribution of N,P and k.was 12.25,15.75 and 6.00 from soils,41.68,22.85 and 59.97 from fertilizer and 9.87,6.74 and 18.65 from organic manures,*** the Inductive cum Targeted Yield Model used to develop fertilizer prescription equations provides a strong basis for soil fertility maintenance consistent with high productivity and efficient nutrient management in farming for sustainable and enduring agriculture.

Quality of Life in Men Treated for Early Prostate Cancer: A Prospective Patient Preference Cohort Study

Objectives: In 1997, a study was launched to investigate the treatment of early prostate cancer. Using a patient preference design, health-related quality-of-life (HRQOL) and disease specific HRQOL was assessed prospectively to compare men undergoing radical prostatectomy (RP), hypo-fractionated conformal radiotherapy (CRT) or brachytherapy (BT). Methods: Patients with localised prostate cancer were counselled by a urological surgeon, clinical oncologist and specialist uro-oncology nurse. Patients received treatment according to individual preference. 430 men chose and received RP (n = 217), CRT (n = 161) and BT (n = 52). 354 (82%) completed pre-treatment RAND 36-Item Short-Form Health survey version-2 (SF36v2) and University of California, Los Angeles Prostate cancer index (UCLA-PCI) questionnaires. HRQOL score changes from baseline to 24 months were compared using k.usk.ll-Wallis test. Results: Pre-treatment, the CRT cohort scored lower for physical function (p = 0.0029) and general health perception (p = 0.0021). The BT cohort reported better baseline scores for urinary function (p = 0.0291), urinary bother (p = 0.0030), sexual function (p = 0.0009) and bowel bother (p = 0.0063). At 24 months, bowel function was similar for CRT and BT but both modalities were worse than RP (p = 0.0010). Urinary continence deteriorated most following RP (p k.ng treatment decisions.
