Systemic acquired resistance （SAR） is a form of broad-spectrum resistance induced in response to local infections that protects uninfected parts against subsequent secondary infections by related or unrelated pathogens. SAR signaling requires two parallel branches, one regulated by salicylic acid （SA）. and theother by azelaic acid （AzA） and glycerol-3-phosphate （G3P）. AzA and G3P function downstream of the free radicals nitric oxide （NO） and reactive oxygen species （ROS）. During SAR, SA, AzA and G3P accumulate in the infected leaves, but only a small portion of these is transported to distal uninfected leaves. SA is preferen- tially transported via the apoplast, whereas phloem loading of AzA and G3P occurs via the symplast. The symplastic transport of AzA and G3P is regulated by gating of the plasmodesmata （PD）. The PD localizing proteins, PDLP1 and PDLP5, regulate SAR by regulating PD gating as well as the subcellular partitioning of a SAR-associated protein.

It is globally accepted that soil carbon(C) dynamics are at the core of interlinked environmental problems, deteriorating soil quality and changing climate. Its management remains a complex enigma for the scientific community due to its intricate relationship with soil nitrogen(N) availability and moisture-temperature interactions. This article reviews the management aspects of soil C dynamics in light of recent advances, particularly in relation to the availability of inorganic N pools and associated microbial processes under changing climate. Globally, drastic alterations in soil C dynamics under changing land use and management practices have been primarily attributed to the variation in soil N availability, resulting in a higher decomposition rate and a considerable decline in soil organic C(SOC) levels due to increased soil CO_2 emissions, degraded soil quality, and increased atmospheric CO_2 concentrations,leading to climate warming. Predicted climate warming is proposed to enhance SOC decomposition, which may further increase soil N availability, leading to higher soil CO_2 efflux. However, a literature survey revealed that soil may also act as a potential C sink, if we could manage soil inorganic N pools and link microbial processes properly. Studies also indicated that the relative, rather than the absolute, availability of inorganic N pools might be of key importance under changing climate, as these N pools are variably affected by moisture-temperature interactions, and they have variable impacts on SOC turnover. Therefore, multi-factorial studies are required to understand how the relative availability of inorganic N pools and associated microbial processes may determine SOC dynamics for improved soil C management.

AIM:To evaluate whether glaucomatous visual field defect particularly the pattern standard deviation(PSD)of Humphrey visual field could be associated with visual evoked potential(VEP)parameters of patients having primary open angle glaucoma(POAG).METHODS:Visual field by Humphrey perimetry and simultaneous recordings of pattern reversal visual evoked potential(PRVEP)were assessed in 100 patients with *** stimulus configuration for VEP recordings consisted of the transient pattern reversal method in which a black and white checker board pattern was generated(full field)and displayed on VEP monitor(colour 14')by an electronic pattern regenerator inbuilt in an evoked potential recorder(RMS EMG EP MARK II).RESULTS:The results of our study indicate that there is a highly significant(P<0.001)negative correlation of P100 amplitude and a statistically significant(P<0.05)positive correlation of N70 latency,P100 latency and N155 latency with the PSD of Humphrey visual field in the subjects of POAG in various age groups as evaluated by Student’s ***:Prolongation of VEP latencies were mirrored by a corresponding increase of PSD ***,as PSD increases the magnitude of VEP excursions were found to be diminished.

Anterior segment optical coherence tomography （AS-OCT） finds very few indications in the domain of strabismus surgery. Current applications remain restricted to determining limbus-muscle insertion distance and anterior segment changes after strabismus surgery. We discuss two cases of operated strabismus surgery where AS-OCT imaging helped in identifying the operated eye and/or extra ocular muscles （EOM） and thus proved instrumental in planning and management.

等离子体面壁材料(Plasma Facing Materials,PFM)可显著影响磁约束聚变装置的约束性能。在聚变装置放电过程中,高粒子流和能流会持续轰击等离子体面壁材料,侵蚀偏滤器靶板,进而产生各种杂质。这些杂质不断聚芯,最终将严重污染燃料等离子体、降低装置约束性能,甚至中止放电。因此,寻找一种能够承受高粒子流和能流轰击的、适合连续放电并且只产生较少杂质粒子的等离子体面壁材料,是一项必要的艰巨的任务。研究表明,锂(Li)涂覆材料和液态锂材料被用作第一壁或偏滤器等离子体面壁组件(Plasma Facing Components,PFC)时,能够表现出优良的性能,例如,调控边缘局域模(Edge Localized modes,ELMs),增加等离子体约束性能和降低溅射产率。偏滤器靶板上的锂涂层能够减少等离子体面壁材料表面产生的尘埃、降低能量再循环,从而降低芯部等离子体的温度梯度、增加能量约束时间。因此,针对锂与等离子体相互作用进行严格的边缘等离子体动力学定量和定性分析,是聚变等离子体研究的重要组成部分。本文采用1D3V粒子云网格(Particle-In-Cell,PIC)模型和蒙特卡罗碰撞(MCC)包VSim——模型包含带电粒子和中性粒子间的各种相互作用,研究了锂偏滤器靶板对边缘等离子体的影响。我们将等离子体源——氘等离子体定义在两个锂偏滤器靶板之间,使整个模拟区域表征刮削层(Scrape-off Layer,SOL)。模型中包含的物理化学过程包括氘离子轰击锂壁面产生锂杂质的反应,偏滤器靶板处的粒子再循环和二次电子发射(Second Electron Emitting,SEE)。本文研究表明,等离子体中带电粒子和中性粒子的输运将直接影响偏滤器区的等离子体特性。由于等离子体在与锂杂质、再循环产生的氘的中性原子和分子的各种碰撞中失去能量,锂偏滤器区域的等离子体温度以及入射到靶板上的粒子流和热流将显著降低。

Human-elephant conflict(HEC)in India is becoming a growing health problem causing many fatalities every *** produce injuries by trampling,stomping,squeezing,tossing in the air,or crushing/targeting the head and chest *** adult elephants are most aggressive in their mating season,leading to maximum incidences of HECs in this *** attacks are mostly unprovoked,though most HECs are *** this case series,the authors described the injuries sustained by three survivors in a short span of one month due to the sudden and unprovoked elephant *** the injuries were mild to moderate in severity and involved the chest in *** rescue and prompt initiation of treatment were pivotal in their *** authors also want to create awareness about the mating season of elephants to minimize these unfortunate events in the future.
