Abstract The phylogenetic relationship of lecanoroid lichens is studied using two data sets:1)a 2-locus data set including 251 OTUs representing 150 species,and 2)a 6-locus data set with 82 OTUs representing 53 *** genus Lecanora as currently circumscribed is shown to be highly polyphyletic and several genera,including Adelolecia,Arctopeltis,Bryonora,Carbonea,Frutidella,Lecidella,Miriquidica,Palicella,Protoparmeliopsis,Pyrrhospora,and rhizoplaca are nested within Lecanora sensu lato.A core group of Lecanora is supported as monophyletic and includes species of the ***,***,and *** groups,and a core group of the *** *** monophyletic clades that are well supported in our analyses and well characterized by phenotypical characters are accepted here:1)Myriolecis to accommodate the Lecanora dispersa group and Arctopeltis;2)Protoparmeliopsis for the *** group;and 3)rhizoplaca is emended to include three placodioid taxa previously classified in Lecanora(***,***),whereas *** and *** are excluded from *** latter is transferred into *** is strongly supported as a monophyletic *** studies indicate the presence of additional clades of species currently placed in Lecanora sensu lato that warrant taxonomic recognition but additional data will be necessary before the circumscription of these entities is fully understood.37 new combinations are proposed into the genera Myriolecis(30),Protoparmeliopsis(2),and rhizoplaca(5).

Development of Low Dark Current SiGe Near-Infrared PIN Photodetectors on 300 mm Silicon Wafers

SiGe offers a low-cost alternative to conventional infrared sensor material systems such as InGaAs, InSb, and HgCdTe for developing near-infrared (NIr) photodetector devices that do not require cooling and can operate with relatively low dark current. As a result of the significant difference in thermal expansion coefficients between germanium (Ge) and silicon (Si), tensile strain incorporated into SiGe detector devices through specialized growth processes can extend their NIr wavelength range of operation. We have utilized high throughput, large-area complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology to fabricate Ge based p-i-n (PIN) detector devices on 300 mm Si wafers. The two-step device fabrication process, designed to effectively reduce the density of defects and dislocations arising during deposition that form recombination centers which can result in higher dark current, involves low temperature epitaxial deposition of Ge to form a thin p+ seed layer, followed by higher temperature deposition of a thicker Ge intrinsic layer. Phosphorus was then ion-implanted to create devices with n+ regions of various doping concentrations. Secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) has been utilized to determine the doping profiles and material compositions of the layers. In addition, electrical characterization of the I-V photoresponse of different devices from the same wafer with various n+ region doping concentrations has demonstrated low dark current levels (down to below 1 nA at -1 V bias) and comparatively high photocurrent at reverse biases, with optimal response for doping concentration of 5 × 1019 cm-3.

Urban Air Quality Assessment of Kathmandu by Passive Sampling Technique

This paper presents an assessment of air quality of the Kathmandu valley, capital city of Nepal. This is the largest urbanized area in the country of about 300 km2. In the last two decades an intensive development of demographic, traffic and industry growth in the region was observed which was reflected on the air quality degradation. In order to evaluate the urban air quality in Kathmandu, a field monitoring network for particle deposition, nitrogen dioxide （NO2） and sulphur dioxide （SO2） by passive sampling with high space resolution was implemented in co-operation with IVL-Sweden. The net work composed of 60 monitoring sites distributed in a grid of 1 × 1 km2 covering all over the main city and some rural valley. Monitoring were carried out for two seasons, rainy and dry as two campaign monitoring. The diffusive samplers were prepared and analyzed in IVL, Sweden. Good agreements in particle deposition between the two campaigns were observed. The particle deposition to the surrogate surface varied between 3 and 608 μg@cm2·monthl for the monitoring periods. The NOz concentrations on the other hand were quite similar in the two campaigns, and the SO2 concentrations were much lower in the first campaign compared to the second. The ranges of NO2 and SO2 concentrations were found to be from 5.6 to 52.6 μg/m3 and 0.6 to 23.4 μg·m-3 respectively. Arc Info/Arc map GIS 9.2 software was used for production of maps of spatial distribution of all the three parameters in the valley. Seasonal variation and traffic influence were also studied. Local meteorological effects in the distribution of pollutants were clearly observed and the NO2 concentrations were strictly related with traffic intensity.

Agricultural areas of land are deteriorating every day owing to population increase, rapid urbanization, and industrialization. To feed today’s huge populations, increased crop production is required from smaller areas, which warrants the continuous application of high doses of inorganic fertilizers to agricultural land. These cause damage to soil health and, therefore, nutrient imbalance conditions in arable soils. Under these conditions, the benefits of microbial inoculants (such as Actinobacteria) as replacements for harmful chemicals and promoting ecofriendly sustainable farming practices have been made clear through recent technological advances. There are multifunctional traits involved in the production of different types of bioactive compounds responsible for plant growth promotion, and the biocontrol of phytopathogens has reduced the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. There are some well-known groups of nitrogen-fixing Actinobacteria, such as Frankia, which undergo mutualism with plants and offer enhanced symbiotic *** addition to nitrogen fixation, increasing availability of major plant nutrients in soil due to the solubilization of immobilized forms of phosphorus and potassium compounds, production of phytohormones, such as indole-3-acetic acid, indole-3-pyruvic acid, gibberellins, and cytokinins, improving organic matter decomposition by releasing cellulases, xylanase, glucanases, lipases, and proteases, and suppression of soil-borne pathogens by the production of siderophores, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, and chitinase are important features of Actinobacteria useful for combating biotic and abiotic stresses in *** positive influence of Actinobacteria on soil fertility and plant health has motivated us to compile this review of important findings associated with sustaining plant productivity in the long run.

Ductile failure in DWTT（Drop Weight Tear Test） at subzero temperatures is one of the key requirements for line pipe steels. As the temperature drops or thickness increases, the ductile failure mode is difficult to achieve in DWTT testing. JSW Steel has successfully developed new generation Nb-microalloyed line pipe steels for heavy gauges（up to 20mm） for grades up to API X-80 grade for the first time in India through hot strip mill. It has been observed that prior austenite grain boundaries act as major crack arresters due to the high angle of misorientation at the grain boundaries. In order to achieve ductile DWTT failure, the crack propagation by brittle Griffith cracks needs to be arrested by high angle boundaries with their interspacing lesser than that of the critical Griffith crack length. Hence refinement of prior austenite grain size which requires optimization of multiple dynamic and static recrystallisation phenomena coupled with reduced grain growth at rolling temperatures, leads to improved DWTT performance. This paper describes the various aspects of steel chemistry design and the hot rolling process optimization to achieve subzero temperature DWTT in thicker gauge line pipe steels. Multiple online trials have been conducted at JSW Steel, Vijayanagar works for achieving the same, such that the effects of chemistry and process variables on final microstructures and mechanical properties have been established. Further, a correlation table has been prepared for predicting DWTT transition temperature based on the largest prior austenite grain size in the transfer bar microstructure before entering into the finishing mill. This table has proven to be very useful in alloy design and in optimizing hot rolling process window to achieve superior DWTT performance for different end thicknesses in line pipe steels.

An Integrated Process for recycling of ThO<sub>2</sub>Based Mixed Oxide rejected Nuclear Fuel Pellets

This paper presents a study on the process engineering aspects of relevance to the industrial implementation of ThO2 and (Th, U)O2 mixed oxide (MOX) pellet type fuel manufacturing. The paper in particular focuses on the recycling of thoria based fuel production scrap which is an economically important component in the fuel manufacturing process. The thoria based fuels are envisaged for Advanced Heavy Water reactor (AHWr) and other reactors important to the Indian Nuclear Power Programme. A process was developed for recycling the chemically clean, off-specification and defective sintered ThO2 and (Th, U)O2 MOX nuclear fuel pellets. ThO2 doesn’t undergo oxidation or reduction and thus, more traditional methods of recycling are impractical. The integrated process was developed by combining three basic approaches of recycling namely mechanical micronisation, air oxidation (for MOX) and microwave dissolution-denitration. A thorough investigation of the influence of several variables as heating method, UO2 content, fluoride and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) addition during microwave dissolution-denitration was recorded on the product characteristics. The suitability evaluation of the recycled powder for re-fabrication of the fuel was carried out by analyzing the particle size, BET specific surface area, phase using XrD, bulk density and impurities. The physical and chemical properties of recycled powder obtained from the sintered (Th1-y, Uy)O2 (y;0 - 30 wt%) pellets advocate 100% utilisation for fuel re-fabrication. recycled ThO2 by integrated process showed distinctly high sinterability compared to standard powder evaluated in terms of surface area and particle size.
