An Autopsy and Histopathology-based Study to Ascertain the Cause of Death of Brought Dead Cases

Background and Objectives:The cases of apparent natural deaths are encountered in the hospital casualties who are noted dead at the time of the first medical attention and as such are labeled as“Brought Dead.”These include the cases of sudden death,unexplained death,and unattended *** cause of such deaths is reported in the literature to emanate principally from the cardiovascular system,though there are some documented geographical,racial,and other *** the present study,we endeavored to detect the cause of such natural deaths in terms of the disease and the organ system involved,in the deceased individuals of the contemporary Bengali population,with cases due to obvious unnatural causes being *** and Methods:An observational,cross-sectional study with 105(n=105,male:89,female:16)study subjects of age group of 20-80 years,selected by systemic random sampling,from the brought dead subjects coming to the mortuary of the NRS Medical College and Hospital for medicolegal autopsy from April 2011 to March 2012,excluding cases having a history of the obvious unnatural *** system-wise gross examination was done,followed by tissue sampling for histopathological *** case-wise findings were tabulated and analyzed for descriptive statistics using SPSS ***:In the present study,89 cases were male(84.8%)and 16 cases were female(15.2%),which reflects a male:female ratio of 5.56:*** dead bodies are mostly recovered from the footpaths(47 cases,44%).Sixty-four(61%)cases are of known *** 54 cases out of 105(51.4%),morbid pathology is detected in the respiratory system(RS),lobar pneumonia,and cavitary pulmonary tuberculosis being the most frequent disease entity,in both ***-one years-sixty-five years is found to be the most commonly affected age group,in both *** and Conclusions:The present study shows that the most common organ system involved in brought dead cases is the RS,which is s

AIM:To investigate the chemopreventive iffects of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 in diethylnitrosamine induced,phenobarbital promoted rat ***:The rats were randomly divided into 6 different groups(A-F).Group A,C and E rats received a single intraperitoneal (i.p) injection of diethylnitrosamine (DEN) at a dose of 200 mg/kg body mass in 9 g/L NaCl solution at 4 wk of age ,while group B served as normal vehicle control received normal saline *** a brief recovery of 2 WK, all the DEN treated rats were given phenobarbital (PB) at 0.5g/L daily in the basal diet till WK *** C was started 4 wk prior to DEN injection and continued thereafter till wk 20 at a dose (os) twice a *** E received the treatment of 1α,25-(OH)2D3 at the same dose mentioned as above for 15 *** rats in group D and F received 1α,25-(OH)2D3 alone as in group C without DEN ***:The comet assay showed statistically higher mean values for length to width ratios (L:W) of DNA mass and tailed cells (p<0.01;p<0.01 respectively) in DEN treated rats as compared to their normal *** supplementation of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitaminD3 showed a significant (p<0.01) decrease in L:W ratio of DNA mass tailed ***,1α,25-(OH)2D3 supplementations elevated the super oxide dismutase (SOD) activety,hepatic malondialdehyde(MDA) levle,reduced glutathione (GSH) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) activety (p<0.01,p<0.01,p<0.05 and p<0.05 respectively).As an endpoint marker histological changes were observed to establish the chemopreventive effects of 1α,***:Supplementations of 1α,25-(OH)2D3 has a marked protection against hepatic nodelogenesis,antioxidant enzymes and DNA damages in DEN induced rat hepatocarcinogenesis promoted by phenobarbital.

Effect of magnetic field on Oldroyd-B type nanofluid flow over a permeable stretching surface

This article is conceded to explore the influence of magnetic flux on a two dimensional incompressible Oldroyd-B type nanofluid past a heat generating/absorbing permeable expanding *** by some appropriate similarity transformations,the fundamental PDEs are converted into a self similar system of coupled,non-linear *** findings are gained by taking the help of the Runge–Kutta Gill based Shooting *** visualize the influences of related parameters concerning the flow,on velocity,temperature and concentration distributions are represented through *** fallouts for the local Nusselt number and Sherwood number are charted for various parametric situations to offer interesting aspects of the *** existence of magnetic flux the momentum boundary layer width declines rapidly with relaxation time and velocity slip whereas,the temperature boundary layer width enhances significantly with heat source,Brownian motion and thermophoresis *** Nusselt number falls a lot with heat source,velocity slip and Brownian motion parameter but reverse result is notified for Sherwood number for the ***,the obtained numerical outcomes for particular cases are compared with those of the existing data in the open literature and,are found in excellent harmony.

Phosphorus fixing capacity of the Oxic Rhodustalf—alfisol soil in the Chotanagpur plateau region of Eastern India

The P-fixing capacity of a soil governs the P-nutrition of crop plants. P-nutrition of the crop plant is more a soil problem and a higher dose of phosphatic fertilizer is necessary for soils having high P-fixing capacity. The phenomenon of P-fixation and the great variation in the P-fixing capacity of different soils has thus important bearing on crop response to P-application. The eastern plateau region of India with acid lateritic soil is chronically deficient in available phosphorus resulting in very low productivity. An experiment was thus carried out to estimate the P-fixing capacity of soil collected from two depths, 0 - 20 cm and 20 - 50 cm, from the Agricultural experimental farm of Indian Statistical Institute, situated at Giridih, Jharkhand, in the eastern India. The soil was acidic in reaction (pH-5.4) with presence of Fe (1.60%) and Al (17.2%). The P-fixing capacity of the soil was estimated to be 59.60% and 64.94% for the surface and the subsurface soil respectively showing lower P-fixing capacity of the surface soil as compared to the subsurface soil which may be due to presence of more organic matter in the surface soil as organic molecules released on decomposition of organic matter complexes with Fe and Al in the soil thereby blocking the P-fixing sites in the soil.
