An Improved Lung Cancer Segmentation Based on Nature-Inspired Optimization Approaches

The distinction and precise identification of tumor nodules are crucial for timely lung cancer diagnosis andplanning intervention. This research work addresses the major issues pertaining to the field of medical imageprocessing while focusing on lung cancer Computed Tomography (CT) images. In this context, the paper proposesan improved lung cancer segmentation technique based on the strengths of nature-inspired approaches. Thebetter resolution of CT is exploited to distinguish healthy subjects from those who have lung cancer. In thisprocess, the visual challenges of the K-means are addressed with the integration of four nature-inspired swarmintelligent techniques. The techniques experimented in this paper are K-means with Artificial Bee Colony (ABC),K-means with Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA), K-means with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Kmeanswith Firefly Algorithm (FFA). The testing and evaluation are performed on Early Lung Cancer Actionprogram (ELCAP) database. The simulation analysis is performed using lung cancer images set against metrics:precision, sensitivity, specificity, f-measure, accuracy,Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC), Jaccard, and *** detailed evaluation shows that the K-means with Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA) significantly improved thequality of lung cancer segmentation in comparison to the other optimization approaches utilized for lung cancerimages. The results exhibit that the proposed approach (K-means with CSA) achieves precision, sensitivity, and Fmeasureof 0.942, 0.964, and 0.953, respectively, and an average accuracy of 93%. The experimental results prove thatK-meanswithABC,K-meanswith PSO,K-meanswith FFA, andK-meanswithCSAhave achieved an improvementof 10.8%, 13.38%, 13.93%, and 15.7%, respectively, for accuracy measure in comparison to K-means segmentationfor lung cancer images. An efficient room-temperature self-powered,broadband(300 nm–1100 nm)photodetector based on a CuO–TiO_(2)/TiO_(2)/p-Si(100)heterostructure is *** CuO–TiO_(2)nanocomposites were grown in a two-zone horizontal tube furnace on a 40 nm TiO_(2)thin film deposited on a p-type Si(100)*** CuO–TiO_(2)/TiO_(2)/p-Si(100)devices exhibited excellent rectification characteristics under dark and individual photoillumination *** devices showed remarkable photo-response under broadband(300–1100 nm)light illumination at zero bias voltage,indicating the achievement of highly sensitive self-powered photodetectors at visible and near-infrared light *** maximum response of the devices is observed at 300 nm for an illumination power of 10 *** response and recovery times were calculated as 86 ms and 78 ms,***,under a small bias,the devices showed a prompt binary response by altering the current from positive to negative under illumination *** main reason behind this binary response is the low turn-on voltage and photovoltaic characteristics of the *** illumination conditions,the generation of photocurrent is due to the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs within the built-in electric field at the CuO–TiO_(2)/TiO_(2)*** characteristics make the CuO–TiO_(2)/TiO_(2)broadband photodetectors suitable for applications that require high response speeds and self-sufficient functionality.

Solution and Thermodynamic Studies on Binary and Ternary Complexes of Lanthanides

The interactions of La（ Ⅲ ）, pr（ Ⅲ ）, Nd（ Ⅲ ）, Sm（ Ⅲ ）, Eu（Ⅲ）, Gd（ Ⅲ ）, Dy（ Ⅲ ）, and Yb（ Ⅲ ） with cytosine, 5-bromocytosine, 5-azacytosine and 5-flurocytosine as primary ligands （L） and guanine （A） as secondary ligand for both binary （ 1 ： 1 ） as well as ternary （ 1 ： 1 ： 1 ） systems were investigated by potentiometric equilibrium measurements at 25, 35 and 45 ℃ in aqueous solution （ionic strength, μ = 0.1 mol·dm^-3 NaNO3）. The stability constants of the binary （ 1 ： 1 ） and ternary （ 1 ： 1 ： 1 ） metal-ligand complexes follow the following order La 〈 pr 〈 Nd 〈 Sm 〈 Eu 〉 Gd 〈 Dy 〉 Yb. Results also indicate that the ternary lanthanide complexes of La（Ⅲ）, pr（Ⅲ）, Nd（Ⅲ）, Sm（Ⅲ）, Eu（Ⅲ）, Gd（Ⅲ）, Dy（Ⅲ）, and Yb（ Ⅲ ） are more stable than corresponding binary lanthanide complexes. The enthalpy （△Hf^o） and entropy （△Sf^o） changes for the formation of binary and ternary complexes were calculated from temperature coefficient data. The △△Sf^o values are positive for all the metal ligand systems. The negative △△Hf^o values indicate the extra stability of the ternary complexes by the exothermic enthalpy changes （△△Sf^o = △TSf^o - △BSf^o and △△Hf^o = △THf^o - △BHf^o where △TSf^o, △THf^o and △BSf^o, △BHf^o are the entropy and enthalpy values associated with the ternary and binary complexes, respectively）. It was also proposed that the guanine is bonded to metal ions through N1/C6 = O and N7 whereas cytosine and its derivatives are bonded through N3 atoms in ternary complexes.

The control of Leishmania infection relies primarily on chemotherapy till *** to pentavalent antimonials,which have been the recommended drugs to treat cutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis,is now widespread in Indian *** drug formulations like amphotericin B,its lipid formulations,and miltefosine have shown great efGcacy to treat leishmaniasis but their high cost and therapeutic complications limit their *** addition, irregular and inappropriate uses of these second line drugs in endemic regions like state of Bihar, India threaten resistance development in the *** context to the limited drug options and unavailability of either preventive or prophylactic candidates,there is a pressing need to develop true antileishmanial drugs to reduce the disease burden of this debilitating endemic *** significant progress of leishmanial research during last few decades, identification and characterization of novel drugs and drug targets are far from *** review will initially describe current drug regimens and later will provide an overview on few important biochemical and enzymatic machineries that could be utilized as putative drug targets for generation of true antileishmanial drugs.

Numerical Analysis of Unsteady Natural Convection Flow and Heat Transfer in the Existence of Lorentz Force in Suddenly Expanded Cavity Using OpenFOAM

The present study reveals the significance of the magnetic field or Lorentz force on the unsteady natural convection flow and heat transfer in the suddenly expanded *** Lorentz force based magnetohydrodynamics(MHD)solver using electric potential formulation coupled with the energy equation by the means of Boussinesq approximation is developed in the open-source CFD tool *** unsteady flow is generated by the buoyancy force keeping the Rayleigh number(Ra)at 109,at the fixed prandtl number(pr)of *** effects of the magnetic field on the flow and heat transfer are explained for various orientations of magnetic field(Bx,B45,and By)in terms of Hartmann number(Ha=0,50,100,300 and 500).The increase in the magnetic field increases the strength of the Lorentz force,which regulates the flow pattern and suppresses down the unsteady nature of flow and heat transfer into the *** is perceived that the average Nusselt number decreases as the intensity of Bx and B45 magnetic field ***,for By magnetic field the average Nusselt number increases up to Ha of 100 as compared to the non-MHD case(Ha=0).The distribution of Lorentz force in the domain plays a significant role in the governing of the fluid flow and heat transfer.

Comparative assessment for removal of anionic dye from water by different waste-derived biochar vis a vis reusability of generated sludge

In this study,four biochars prepared from different crop residue waste *** bagasse(SBB),coconut shell(CNB),paddy straw(PDB),and distilled waste of lemongrass(LGB)were evaluated for removal of Remazol Brilliant Blue R from the aqueous *** RBBR adsorption capacities of biochar were 97-79%for SBB,99.9-99.47%for CNB,66.1-48%for PDB,and 78-68%for LGB,dominantly controlled by their aromaticity and mineral *** Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms and pseudo-second-order kinetic models have described the chemisorption of RBBR on biochar *** thermodynamic data suggested that adsorption was spontaneous and *** biochars demonstrated excellent reusability(till four cycles with 50-61%regeneration).The purified water and biochar dye sludge demonstrated no *** findings obtained in this study may provide supports for the potential of biochars for anionic dye removal from water and utilization of generated sludge for zero waste-producing technologies in the future.

Finite Element Analysis on the Uniaxial Compressive Behavior of Concrete with Large-Size Recycled Coarse Aggregate

To model the concrete with complex internal structure of concrete with large sized aggregates the effect of internal structure on uniaxial compression behavior are ***-sized recycled aggregates behave differently in the concrete *** understand the influence on concrete matrix,a finite element model was developed to model recycled aggregate concrete composed of multiple randomly distributed irregular aggregates and cement *** model was used to calculate the effect of large-size recycled coarse aggregate(LRCA)on the strength of recycled aggregate concrete and simulate the compressive strength of cubes and *** factors such as the strength of new concrete,the strength of old concrete,the defective element content,the shape of LRCA,the incorporation ratio of LRCA and the size of LRCA that can affect the strength of concrete are analyzed in this *** showed that the influence of various factors on concrete strength are in the following desend-ing order:(i)strength of newly poured concrete;(ii)original strength of recycled aggregates;and(iii)*** can be seen that the cracking of the phase material elements starts along the bonding zones between gravel and mortar or the new and old mortar,then spreads to mortar and finally to *** cracking tendency is most significant in LRCA,which means that the fracturing is related to the fracture of the *** evaluating the variations in strength and quality of the recycled concrete,the influences on concrete strength and quality were *** results showed that the proposed concrete model with LRCA was successfully applied to studying the uniaxial compressive behavior of concrete with large-size recycled coarse aggregate.

Microwave assisted synthesis,spectroscopy and biochemical aspects of lanthanum(Ⅲ) and praseodymium(Ⅲ) complexes with oxadiazole functionalised dithiocarbazinates

The new lanthanum (Ⅲ) and praseodymium (Ⅲ) complexes of the general formula [Ln(L)3] (Ln=La(Ⅲ) or pr(Ⅲ); LK=potassium salt of dithiocarbazinates) were prepared by both, conventional thermal and by the use of microwave technology. Elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic moment and electronic, infrared, far-infrared, 1H and 13C NMR spectral studies were used to characterize the complexes. The molecular weights of few complexes were determined by FAB-mass spectra. Nephelauxetic ratio, covalency parameter and bonding parameter for these complexes were also calculated. The probable structures of the complexes were proposed. The antifungal and antibacterial activities of the complexes were evaluated. The activities were correlated with the structures of the compounds.

Performance comparison of mono and polycrystalline silicon solar photovoltaic modules under tropical wet and dry climatic conditions in east-central India

This work focuses on the performance comparison of monocrystalline and polycrystalline Si solar photovoltaic(SPV)modules under tropical wet and dry climatic conditions in east-central India(21.16°N 81.65°E,Raipur,Chhattisgarh).This study would help to select the SPV module for system installation in the east-central part of the *** comparative analysis,we used performance ratio(pr)and efficiency as figures of *** plane-of-array(POA)irradiance was used to determine the efficiency of the *** decomposition and transposition models calculated the POA values from the measured global horizontal *** data were analysed systematically for 6 months in the non-rainy season,from October 2020 to March *** attention was given to solar irradiance,ambient temperature and module temperature-the parameters that affect the performance of PV *** month of October showed the highest variation in irradiance and *** highest average module temperatures(51-52℃)were observed in October-November,while the lowest average module temperatures(34℃ for mono-Si and 36℃ for poly-Si)were observed in *** highest value of average monthly POA irradiance(568 W/m^(2))was observed in February and the lowest(483 W/m^(2))in *** results showed that the monocrystalline SPV module performed better than the polycrystalline module under all weather *** maximum observed values of mono-Si and poly-Si panel prs were 0.89 and 0.86,respectively,in December.

Evaluation of dielectric,energy storage and multiferroic properties of prFeO_(3)-PbTiO_(3)solid solutions

This work promotes the room temperature energy storage properties of the *** this approach,impacts of prFeO_(3)doping on PT-based solid solutions(Pb1−xprxTi1−xFexO_(3),x=0.21,0.22,0.23,0.24,0.25 and 0.26)have been explored.X-ray diffraction(XRD)patterns were used to estimate the crystallographic parameters,confirming the single phase tetragonal *** ferroelectric Curie temperature(Tc FE)is observed to drop from 410 K to below room temperature as the pr concentration *** ferroelectric P-E loops were used to determine the energy storage values at room *** sample x=0.24 achieved the maximum value of energy storage density of 362.25 mJ/cm^(3)with the efficiency of 40.5%.The ferroelectric P-E loops were used to determine the energy storage values at room *** validity of magnetoelectric coupling in all samples was confirmed by magneto-dielectric studies and found that the sample x=0.24 shows the maximum response with the coupling coefficient(γ)=15.54 g^(2)/emu^(2).
