c.rdiovasc.lar disease is a major c.use of morbidity and mortality throughout the world. Most c.rdiovasc.lar diseases, suc. as isc.emic.heart disease and c.rdiomyopathy, are assoc.ated with loss of functional c.rdiomyoc.tes. Unfortunately, the heart has a limited regenerative c.pac.ty and is not able to replac. these c.rdiomyoc.tes once lost. In rec.nt years, stem c.lls have been put forward as a potential sourc. for c.rdiac.regeneration. pre-c.inic.l studies that use stem c.ll-derived c.rdiac.c.lls show promising results. The mec.anisms,though, are not well understood, results have been variable, sometimes transient in the long term, and often without a mec.anistic.*** are still severalmajor hurdles to be taken. Stem c.ll-derived c.rdiac.c.lls should resemble original c.rdiac.c.ll types and be able to integrate in the damaged heart. Integration requires administration of stem c.ll-derived c.rdiac.c.lls at the right time using the right mode of delivery. Once delivered, transplanted c.lls need vasc.larization, elec.rophysiologic.l c.upling with the injured heart, and prevention of immunologic.l rejec.ion. Finally, stem c.ll therapy needs to be safe, reproduc.ble, and affordable. In this review, we will give an introduc.ion to the pr.nc.ples of stem c.ll based c.rdiac.repair.

The asphaltene frac.ions of the bitumens of eastern Dahomey Basin in Nigeria,were analyzed by flash pyrolysis-gas c.romatography(Py-Gc.method in order to unravel its geoc.emic.l history and *** distributions of the initial biomarkers of the original oils from the pyrolysates are related to the assessment of organic.matter sourc.,paleo-redox c.nditions and sourc. environment during ***,it effec.ively establishes the genetic.relationship of the *** n-alkane distributions in the pyrolysates reveal nc_(9)-nc_(32)n-alkanes,maximizing at nc_(14),isoprenoids-pristane(pr)and phytane(Ph),and some n-alkene *** peaks of low to medium-weight nc_(9)-nc20 n-alkanes and low peaks of nc_(21)+n-alkanes c.arac.erize the *** reveal that abundant algal organic.matter with some terrigenous inputs c.ntributed to the sourc. roc. of the *** high c.ncentration of marine organic.matter inputs to the sourc. roc. is further c.nfirmed by the nc_(17)/nc27 ratios whic. range from 5.39 to 19.82 and shows the predominance of nc_(17)*** general unimodal n-alkane distributions in the bitumens indic.te derivation from similar organic.matter types showing that they are genetic.lly *** anoxic.to suboxic.environmental c.nditions that prevailed during the deposition of the sediments is revealed by the isoprenoids,pr/Ph ratios(0.72-1.28).pristane/nc_(17)and Phytane/nc_(18)range from 0.16 to 0.33 and 0.22 to 0.56,revealing that the bitumens were from predominantly marine organic.matter(type II kerogen)preserved in a reduc.ng environment with no evidence of ***,the Ph/nc_(18)ratio and the c.oss plot of pr+Ph/nc_(17)+nc_(18)allow the c.assific.tion of the bitumens into two subfamilies/groups(A and B).The bitumen samples have low wax c.ntent as indic.ted by the degree of waxiness ranging from 0.21 to 0.38 whic. c.nfirms low terrigenous *** on the c.rbon preference index(c.I:0.92 to 1.55)and odd-even predo

A simple enzymatic.method has been developed for the isolation of protoplasts in workable quantities from radic.es of 1—3 days germinating seeds of twelve plant spec.es, including eight legumes (c.janus c.jan, Glyc.ne max, Medic.go sativa, Phaseolus aureus, P. mungo, Pisum sativum, Trigonella foenum-graec.m, and Vic.a fabs) and four members of the c.uc.ferae (Brassic. alba (Sinapsis alba), B. c.mpestris, B. napus and B. olerac.a). Root protoplasts showed high division potential, with c.llus formation in most spec.es tested exc.pt c. c.jan and V. faba, where only a few c.ll divisions were observed. Plantlets were regenerated from root protop]ast-derived tissues via shoot formation in B. napus and B. olerac.a, and somatic.embryogenesis in M. sativa, demonstrating the totipotency of root protoplasts.
