Electric power systems provide the backbone of modern industrial *** scalable grid analytics is the keystone to successfully operating large transmission and distribution ***,today’s power systems are suffering from ever-increasing computational burdens in sustaining the expanding communities and deep integration of renewable energy resources,as well as managing huge volumes of data *** unprecedented challenges call for transformative analytics to support the resilient operations of power ***,the explosive growth of quantum computing techniques has ignited new hopes of revolutionizing power system *** computing harnesses quantum mechanisms to solve traditionally intractable computational problems,which may lead to ultra-scalable and efficient power grid *** paper reviews the newly emerging application of quantum computing techniques in power *** present a comprehensive overview of existing quantum-engineered power analytics from different operation perspectives,including static analysis,transient analysis,stochastic analysis,optimization,stability,and *** thoroughly discuss the related quantum algorithms,their benefits and limitations,hardware implementations,and recommended *** also review the quantum networking techniques to ensure secure communication of power systems in the quantum ***,we discuss challenges and future research *** paper will hopefully stimulate increasing attention to the development of quantum-engineered smart grids.

Parametric study of droplet size in an axisymmetric flow-focusing capillary device

A conventional technique for microfluidic droplet generation is Co-axial Flow Focusing(CFF)in which a contraction zone is placed downstream of the dispersed phase *** this contraction zone,the dispersed-phase(dphase)fluid is pinched off by continuous-phase(c-phase)fluid to generate *** the influence of multiple parameters such as the fluids velocities and viscosities,the interfacial tension,and nozzle and orifice diameters on the droplet size is of great importance for the design and application of CFF ***,development of more complete numerical models is *** this paper,we show our model is compatible with experimental data and then numerically investigate the effects of aforementioned parameters on the droplet generation in a CFF microfluidic *** results showed that the c-phase flow rate,viscosity and the interfacial tension had great impacts on the droplet *** effect of the nozzle diameter on the generated droplet size was small compared to that of the orifice in a CFF *** the simulation results,a correlation was also developed and suggested which predicts the droplet size with less than 15%error in a wide range of the introduced dimensionless parameters.

Analysis of reputation-based mining paradigm under dishonest mining attacks

Since the introduction of Bitcoin,numerous studies on Bitcoin mining attacks have been conducted,and as a result,many countermeasures to these attacks have been *** reputation-based mining paradigm is a comprehensive countermeasure solution to this problem with the goal of regulating the mining process and preventing mining *** is accomplished by incentivizing miners to avoid dishonest mining strategies using reward and punishment *** model was validated solely based on game theoretical analyses,and the real-world implications of this model are not known due to the lack of empirical *** shed light on this issue,we designed a simulated mining platform to examine the effectiveness of the reputation-based mining paradigm through data *** implemented block withholding attacks in our simulation and ran the following three scenarios:Reputation mode,non-reputation mode,and no attack *** comparing the results from these three scenarios,interestingly,we found that the reputation-based mining paradigm decreases the number of block withholding attacks,and as a result,the actual revenue of individual miners becomes closer to their theoretical expected *** addition,we observed that the confidence interval test can effectively detect block withholding attacks;however,the test also results in a small number of false positive *** the effectiveness of the reputation-based model relies on attack detection,further research is needed to investigate the effect of this model on other dishonest mining strategies.

An application of a genetic algorithm in co-optimization of geological CO_(2) storage based on artificial neural networks

Global warming,driven by human-induced disruptions to the natural carbon dioxide(CO_(2))cycle,is a pressing *** mitigate this,carbon capture and storage has emerged as a key strategy that enables the continued use of fossil fuels while transitioning to cleaner energy *** saline aquifers are of particular interest due to their substantial CO_(2) storage potential,often located near fossil fuel *** this study,a deep saline aquifer model with a saline water production well was constructed to develop the optimization *** to the time-consuming nature of each realization of the numerical simulation,we introduce a sur-rogate aquifer model derived from extracted *** novelty of our work lies in the pioneering of simultaneous optimization using machine learning within an integrated *** previous studies,which typically focused on single-parameter optimiza-tion,our research addresses this gap by performing multi-objective optimization for CO_(2) storage and breakthrough time in deep sa-line aquifers using a data-driven *** methodology encompasses preprocessing and feature selection,identifying eight pivotal *** metrics include root mean square error(RMSE),mean absolute percentage error(MAPE)and R^(2).In predicting CO_(2) storage values,RMSE,MAPE and R^(2)in test data were 2.07%,1.52% and 0.99,respectively,while in blind data,they were 2.5%,2.05% and *** the CO_(2) breakthrough time,RMSE,MAPE and R^(2) in the test data were 2.1%,1.77% and 0.93,while in the blind data they were 2.8%,2.23% and 0.92,*** addressing the substantial computational demands and time-consuming nature of coup-ling a numerical simulator with an optimization algorithm,we have adopted a strategy in which the trained artificial neural network is seamlessly integrated with a multi-objective genetic *** this framework,we conducted 5000 comprehensive experi-ments to rigorously validate the development of the

Effects of the porous medium and water-silver biological nanofluid on the performance of a newly designed heat sink by using first and second laws of thermodynamics

The aim of this numerical investigation is to evaluate the laminar forced convection of biologically synthesized water-silver nanofluid through a heat sink(HS)filled with porous foam(PHS)using first and second laws of *** impacts of inlet velocity(V=0.5–3 m·s^-1)and volume fraction of nanofluid(φ=0–1%)on the performance metrics of HS are assessed and the outcomes are compared with those of the non-porous HS(NHS).The outcomes revealed that for both the PHS and NHS,the increase of V causes an intensification in convection coefficient,pumping power,and entropy generation due to fluid friction,while the maximum CPU temperature,thermal resistance,and entropy generation due to the heat transfer reduces by boosting ***,it was found that the augmentation of V results in intensification in convection coefficient,pumping power,overall hydrothermal performance,and frictional entropy generation,while the opposite is true for maximum CPU temperature,thermal resistance,and thermal entropy ***,it was reported that,except forφ=0.5%,the overall hydrothermal performance of NHS is better than that of PHS,while PHS has better second-law performance than NHS in all the studied ***,it can be concluded that the best hydrothermal performance for PHS belongs toφ=1%and V=0.5 m·s^-1,while for NHS,these values are 1%and 2 m·s^-1.

Immune-based therapies have experienced a pronounced breakthrough in the past decades as they acquired multiple US Food and Drug Administration(FDA)approvals for various *** date,six chimeric antigen receptor T cell(CAR-T)therapies have been permitted for the treatment of certain patients with relapsed/refractory hematologic ***,several clinical trials of solid tumor CAR-T therapies were prematurely terminated,or they reported life-threatening treatment-related damages to healthy *** simultaneous expression of target antigens by healthy organs and tumor cells is partly responsible for such *** targeting tumor-specific antigens,targeting the aberrantly glycosylated glycoforms of tumor-associated antigens can also minimize the off-tumor effects of CAR-T ***,T,and sialyl-Tn antigens have been reported to be involved in tumor progression and metastasis,and their expression results from the dysregulation of a series of glycosyltransferases and the endoplasmic reticulum protein chaperone,***,these glycoforms have been associated with various types of cancers,including prostate,breast,colon,gastric,and lung ***,we discuss how underglycosylated antigens emerge and then detail the latest advances in the development of CAR-T-based immunotherapies that target some of such antigens.

Laparoscopic celiac plexus ganglioneuroma resection: A video case report

BACKGROUND Ganglioneuromas are mature, benign neurogenic tumors that arise from neural crest-derived cells. Given the rarity of these tumors and their often close proximity to major vessels, there is a paucity of reports in the literature of minimally invasive resections of ganglioneuromas near the celiac plexus. We report a case of laparoscopic resection of a retroperitoneal ganglioneuroma adhering to the portal vein and celiac *** SUMMARY A 27-year-old female was referred to our medical center with a symptomatic retroperitoneal mass. Using high quality preoperative imaging and biopsies, we confirmed the diagnosis of a 4 cm ganglioneuroma abutting the celiac axis, portal vein, and the caudate lobe of the liver. We elected for laparoscopic resection after careful preoperative planning and discussions with the patient. Laparoscopy enhanced visualization of the tumor and its relationships to surrounding vital structures for optimal dissection. Ultrasonic energy devices and adjusting liver retraction to allow for manipulation of the mass facilitated a safe and effective resection in a tight space. There were no operative complications and the patient was discharged home on postoperative day 1 with no residual symptoms upon follow-up. With sufficient experience in laparoscopic surgery and preoperative imaging and diagnostics, a minimally invasive approach for removing this celiac plexus ganglioneuroma was *** In carefully selected patients, laparoscopic ganglioneuroma resection is appropriate, reducing postoperative morbidity, hospital length of stay, and recovery time.

Effects of metal oxide nanoparticles on soil water retention curve and tensile strength

Generally,nanotechnology plays an very important role in various applied scientific *** and magnesium nanoparticles （NPs） can cause positive or negative changes in soil physical and mechanical properties,especially in long *** aim of this study was to investigate the multi-year effects of NPs on soil water retention and aggregate tensile strength.A wheat farm loamy soil was amended with 1%,3%,and 5%（weight/weight） of magnesium oxide（Mg O） and iron oxide （Fe3O4） NPs in three replications and incubated for three *** contents were measured at different matric suctions of 0,10,20,40,60,100,300,1 000,and 15 000 *** van Genuchten model was fitted to the moisture *** strength was measured on the 2–4 mm aggregates at matric suctions of 300 （i.e.,field capacity） and 15 000 （i.e.,permanent wilting point） *** results showed that the levels of 1%and 3%Fe3O4NPs significantly increased water retention,compared to the no NP application control and 5%Mg O NPs,which is probably due to the increase of adsorption surfaces in the treated *** contents at field capacity and permanent wilting point in the 5%Mg O NP treatment decreased compared to those of the other treatments,due to the increased soil vulnerability and reduced soil fine *** application of Fe3O4NPs did not have any significant effect on soil tensile *** on the results of this study,soil physical and mechanical properties could be affected by NP application.

Operando electrochemical SERS monitors nanoparticle reactions by capping agent fingerprints

Nanomaterials are frequently employed in daily life goods,including health,textile,and food industry.A comprehensive picture is lacking on the role of the capping agents,added ligand molecules,in case of nanoparticle reactions and degradation in aqueous solutions,like surface waters or ***,we aim to elucidate the capping agent influence on nanoparticle reactivity probing two commonly employed capping agents citrate and polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP).Their influence on silver nanoparticle(AgNP)transformation is studied,which is particularly important due to its application as an antimicrobial *** induce oxidation and reduction processes of AgNPs in halide solutions and we monitor the associated transformations of particles and capping agents by spectro-electrochemical surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS).Raman bands of the capping agents are used here to track chemical changes of the nanoparticles under operando *** sparingly soluble and non-plasmon active silver salts(AgBr and AgCl)are formed under potential *** addition,we spectroscopically observe plasmon-mediated structural changes of citrate to cis-or trans-aconitate,while PVP is *** different behavior of the capping agents implies a change in the physical properties on the surface of AgNPs,in particular with respect to the surface ***,we showcase that reactions of the capping agents induced by different external stimuli,such as applied bias or laser irradiation,can be *** results demonstrate how SERS of capping agents can be exploited to operando track nanoparticle conversions in liquid *** approach is envisaged to provide a more comprehensive understanding of nanoparticle fates in complex liquid environments and varied redox conditions.

Effects of synthesized nanoparticles and Henna-Tragacanth solutions on oil/water interfacial tension:Nanofluids stability considerations

Rising global energy demand has encouraged engineers to create and design new methods to improve oil recovery from *** this study,feasibility of using Henna extract as a natural surfactant and synthesized nanoparticles(Titanium dioxide(TiO2),Silicon dioxide(SiO2),Graphene and composite of TiO2-Graphene)for reduction of oil-water interfacial tension has been experimentally *** were synthesized via sol-gel method and XRD,FESEM,EDAX and FTIR tests were conducted to confirm the authenticity of this synthesizing ***-surfactants were stabled with a natural water-based suspending surfactant called Tragacanth extract,which could be introduced as a practical substitute for industrial nanoparticles'stabilizers in oil *** CMC determination of Henna extract surfactant,the optimal concentration of Tragacanth extract surfactant,with the purpose of nano-surfactants’stabilization,was determined through particle size and zeta potential *** of interfacial tension(IFT)measurements showed that the increase of Henna extract concentration from 0 wt%to 10 wt%reduced IFT between kerosene and water from 37.23 to 15.24 mN/***,adding 1 wt%of synthesized TiO2 nanoparticle to the Henna extract surfactant at its CMC value reduced IFT from 18.43 to 14.57 mN/*** an impact of this significant reduction in IFT value,oil recovery factor could be improved drastically during EOR *** proved that TiO2 nano-surfactant was as effective as industrial surfactants,which put human's and environment's health at risk and impose heavy economic strain on governments.
