Quaternary valley fill deposits in the Upper satluj Valley of NW Himalaya act as archives of changing climate-tectonic dynamics in a *** landforms help in decoding the relationship between climate and *** region is traversed by several active faults and thrusts such as the Kaurik-Chango Fault(KCF)and sangla Detachment(sD),thereby making upper satluj Valley tectonically *** parameters such as width of valley floor(Vfw),Normalized steepness Index(Ksn)and geomorphological evidences such as the presence of huge strath terraces,narrowing of the river valley and palaeolake deposits point towards the tectonically active nature of the *** arid,high elevation region is also climatically sensitive as it falls in a transient climatic zone which receives rainfall only during abnormal monsoon *** rainfall causes outburst floods,a common phenomenon in the area due to the blocking of headwater in the upper reaches of the satluj *** a result,the Quaternary sequence is modified from time to *** transition from hypo concentrated deposits to channel deposits and ponding events are prominent in the depositional sequence,resulting from a response to *** studied Quaternary sediments reveal that the Trans-Himalayan region of the upper satluj valley is affected by tectonic-climate variability,making it vulnerable to geohazards.

The advent of Big Data has led to the rapid growth in the usage of parallel clustering algorithms that work over distributed computing frameworks such as MPI,MapReduce,and *** important step for any parallel clustering algorithm is the distribution of data amongst the cluster *** step governs the methodology and performance of the entire *** typically use random,or a spatial/geometric distribution strategy like kd-tree based partitioning and grid-based partitioning,as per the requirements of the ***,these strategies are generic and are not tailor-made for any specific parallel clustering *** this paper,we give a very comprehensive literature survey of MPI-based parallel clustering algorithms with special reference to the specific data distribution strategies they *** also propose three new data distribution strategies namely Parameterized Dimensional split for parallel density-based clustering algorithms like DBsCAN and OPTICs,Cell-Based Dimensional split for dGridsLINK,which is a grid-based hierarchical clustering algorithm that exhibits efficiency for disjoint spatial distribution,and Projection-Based split,which is a generic distribution *** of these preserve spatial locality,achieve disjoint partitioning,and ensure good data load *** experimental analysis shows the benefits of using the proposed data distribution strategies for algorithms they are designed for,based on which we give appropriate recommendations for their usage.

On-demand availability and resource elasticity features of Cloud computing have attracted the focus of various research *** cloud computing is one of these domains where complex computation tasks are offloaded to the cloud resources to augment mobile devices’cognitive ***,the flexible provisioning of cloud resources is hindered by uncertain offloading workloads and significant setup time of cloud virtual machines(VMs).Furthermore,any delays at the cloud end would further aggravate the miseries of real-time *** resolve these issues,this paper proposes an auto-scaling framework(ACF)that strives to maintain the quality of service(Qos)for the end users as per the service level agreement(sLA)negotiated assurance level for service *** addition,it also provides an innovative solution for dealing with the VM startup overheads without truncating the running *** the waiting cost and service cost tradeoff-based systems or threshold-rule-based systems,it does not require strict tuning in the waiting costs or in the threshold rules for enhancing the *** explored the design space of the ACF system with the Cloudsim *** extensive sets of experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the ACF system in terms of good reduction in energy dissipation at the mobile devices and improvement in the *** the same time,the proposed ACF system also reduces the monetary costs of the service providers.

Functional Genes in Relation to Residual Feed Intake in Murrah Buffalo Heifers

High Feed efficiency (FE) in growing heifers has economic importance in dairy, but remains less understood in buffaloes. Feed conversion efficiency is defined as dry matter intake (DMI) per unit body weight gain and is determined as residual feed intake (RFI), i.e., the difference between actual and predicted feed intake to gain unit body weight during a feed trial run for 78 days under control feeding. A large variation was identified ranging between -0.42 to 0.35 in growing buffalo heifers (n = 40) of age between 11 to 15 months. An average daily weight gain (ADG) varied between 382.0 and 807.6 g/day when compared with the control-fed heifers at an organized buffalo farm. The whole blood transcriptome data obtained from the selected growing heifers from extremes of estimated high and low RFI efficiency were compared with the reference assembly generated from the transcriptome of multiparous buffaloes (n = 16) of diverse age of maturity, period of regaining post partum cyclicity and level of milk production. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified using the reference genome of Mediterranean water buffalo. GO: terms (Padj 0.05, FDR 0.05) enriched by annotated DEGs and biological pathways in gene network for RFI efficiency trait were identified. GO: terms specific to pre-transcriptional regulation of nucleus and Chromatin organization under Nucleoplasm, Energy balancing, Immunity, Cell signaling, ROs optimization, ATP generation through the Electron Transport chain and cell proliferation were determined. The study reveals the indicators targeting the actual metabolic changes and molecular functions underlying the feed utilization capacity of buffaloes. Estimated RFI efficiency revealed a large variation over heifers which may lower the DMI even up to 13.6% thus, enabling an increase in ADG up to 16% by involving efficient heifers in breeding plan.
