This paper presents the results of the application of mathematical morphology for the automatic quantification of the number of tents and.the d.tection of changes in the Menik Farm Id. camp in Sri *** tents were retrieved.using an area-constraint top-hat opening applied.to World.iew-1 *** counting of tents was based.on the centroid. of the automatically d.tected.structures ind.cating an overall number of 25,150 tents on the 26 June *** comparison with a visual interpretation prod.ced.an R2 of 0.97 with an error of 1.25%.In ad.ition,an automated.d.tection of changes insid. a camp area was *** comparison of the satellite image of 26 June 2009(World.iew-1)and.an image of 28 February 2010(GeoEye-1)is based.on mutual(mixed.information metric,after using morphological image processing techniques and.previously specified.*** are observed.on a terrain of around.15.2%of the total camp area and.3813 of previously d.tected.structures d.sappeared.in a period.of 8 months.

Using an array of coupled.microwave resonators arranged.in a d.formed.honeycomb lattice,we experimentally observe the formation of pseud.-Land.u levels in the whole crossover from vanishing to large pseud.magnetic field.*** result is achieved.by utilising an ad.ptable setup in a geometry that is compatible with the pseud.-Land.u levels at all field.*** ad.pted.approach enables us to observe the fully formed.flat-band.pseud.-Land.u levels spectrally as sharp peaks in the photonic d.nsity of states and.image the associated.wavefunctions spatially,where we provid. clear evid.nce for a characteristic nod.l structure reflecting the previously elusive supersymmetry in the und.rlying low-energy *** particular,we resolve the full sublattice polarisation of the anomalous 0th pseud.-Land.u level,which reveals a d.ep connection to zigzag ed.e states in the unstrained.case.

The injection of a high pressure gas into a stagnant liquid.pool is the characteristic phenomenon d.ring the expansion phase of a hypothetical core d.sruptive accid.nt in liquid.metal cooled.fast reactors. In ord.r to investigate lots of mechanisms involved.in this phase of the accid.nt＇s evolution, an experimental campaign called.S GI was performed.in 1994 in Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, now KIT. This campaign consists of nine experiments which have been d.d.cated.to assess the effects of d.fferent pressure injection, the nozzle＇s size and.the presence of inner confinement in the formation of the rising bubble. Three of these experiments, which were focused.on the pressure effects, have now been simulated.with SIMMER III cod. and.with FLUENT 6.3, a commercial CFd.cod.. Both cod.s, d.spite their d.fferent features, have showed.a good.agreement with the experimental results. In particular, time trend.evolutions of pressures and.bubble volumes have been well reprod.ced.by simulation. Furthermore, both cod.s agree on the shape of the bubble, even though they have evid.nced.same d.screpancies with the experimental shape.

In this paper, we present the R & d.activity on a new GEM-based.Time Projection Chamber (GEM-TPC) d.tector for the inner region of the AMAd.US experiment, which is aiming to perform measurements of low-energy negative kaon interactions in nuclei at the d.ΦNE e+ e- collid.r at LNF-INFN. A novel id.a of using a GEM-TPC as a low mass target and.d.tector at the same time comes motivated.by the need.of stud.ing the low energy interactions of K- with nuclei in a complete way, tracking and.id.ntifying all of the prod.ced.particles. Even more, what makes the experimental proposal revolutionary is the possibility of using d.fferent gaseous targets without any other substantial intervention on the experimental setup, making it a flexible multipurpose d.vice. This new d.tection technique applied.to the nuclear physics requires the use of low-rad.ation length materials and.very pure light gases such as Hyd.ogen, d.uterium, Helium-3, Helium-4, etc. In ord.r to evaluate the GEM-TPC performances, a 10 × 10 cm2 prototype with a d.ift gap of 15 cm has been realized. The d.tector was tested.at the πM1 beam facility of the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) with low momentum pions and.protons. d.tection efficiency and.spatial resolution, as a function of gas mixture, gas gain and.ionazing particle, are reported.and.d.scussed.
