Objective: The aim of.the work.described here was to evaluate the role of.contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in response evaluation f.r unresectable advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with tyrosine k.nase inhibitors (Tk.s) plus anti-programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) antibody therapy. Methods: A prospective cohort of.consecutive patients with HCC who received combined Tk./anti-PD-1 antibody treatment f.r unresectable HCC between January 2022 and October 2022 was included in this study. The patients underwent unenhanced ultrasound (US) and CEUS examinations bef.re treatment and at f.llow-up. Changes in the largest diameters of.the target tumor on unenhanced US and the largest diameters of.the enhancing target tumors on CEUS were evaluated. Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 with unenhanced US and magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomography (MRI/CT) and modif.ed RECIST (mRECIST) with CEUS and CEMRI/CT were used to assess treatment response. Results: A total of.24 HCC patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage C, 62.5%; 29 intrahepatic target tumors) were studied. Calculations of.degree of.necrosis in the target tumors revealed no signif.cant dif.erences between CEUS and CEMRI/CT (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As f.r the dif.erentiation of.responders f.om non-responders, the agreement between RECIST version 1.1 of.unenhanced US and mRECIST-CEUS was poor (κ coef.icient = 0.233). Meanwhile, there was a high degree of.concordance between mRECIST-CEUS and mRECIST-CEMRI/CT (κ coef.icient = 0.812). Conclusion: CEUS proved to be superior to baseline US and is comparable to CEMRI/CT in def.ning treatment outcome f.r combined Tk./anti-PD-1 antibody therapy. © 2023 World f.deration f.r Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology

Tuning the optoelectronic properties f.r small organic compounds as organic solar cell applications

Recently, organic solar cells have attracted the attention of.many researchers owing to f.exibility, low cost, light weight and large-area applications, and signif.cant improvement in the power conversion ef.iciency（PCE）. In this work. we designed chains f.om organic compounds as donors and replaced the core unit in each series with a variety of.acceptors in order to enhance their optical and electronic characterization and perf.rmance f.r power conversion ef.iciencies in organic solar cells. We utilized density f.nctional theory（Df.） and time-dependent density f.nctional theory（TD-Df.） to investigate the geometry optimization by using the Gaussian 09 program. Both electronic and optical properties were determined, which involve the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital（LUMO） and the highest occupied molecular orbital（HOMO） levels, the band gap energy, maximum absorption wavelength(λ;max;), open circuit voltage(V;oc;), and light harvesting ef.iciency（LHE）. Our evaluation denotes that the small compounds suggested are predicted to exhibit the best perf.rmance compared to the f.rst series（SC1）, lik. a lower band gap energy, a lower HOMO energy level, a greater absorption range, and a larger PCE.

The use of.antibiotics in humans and animals has been mark.d as a signif.cant step in health due to their ef.ectiveness in controlling and treating bacterial inf.ctions. The misuse and overuse of.antibiotics have been identif.ed as risk.f.ctors f.r bacterial resistance since microorganisms adapt and develop mechanisms to def.nd against antibiotics. According to the Centers f.r Disease Protection and Control (CDC), around 23,000 individuals die every year in the United States due to antibiotic resistance complications. As a result, a demand f.r alternative treatments has been a goal f.r scientists as the microbes adapt to selective pressure. The aim of.this study is to test the antibacterial activity of.leaf.extracts of.Peganum harmala and Haloxylon salicornicum on both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria on various mediums. The results of.the study showed that both P. harmala and H. salicornicum inhibited the bacterial growth in two dif.erent media. The results were also compared with dif.erent common antibiotics used in both human’s and animal’s f.elds and showed a promising outcome as alternative antibiotics.

The wear prof.le analysis,obtained by dif.erent tribometers,is essential to characterise the wear ***,most of.the available methods did not tak. the stress distribution over the wear prof.le in consideration,which causes inaccurate *** this study,the wear prof.le of.polymer–metal contact,obtained by block.on-ring conf.guration under dry sliding conditions,was analysed using f.nite element modelling(f.M)and experimental ***’s wear equation was integrated into a developed f.RTRAN-UMESHMOTION code link.d with Abaqus sof.ware.A varying wear coef.icient(k.values covering both running-in and steady state regions,and a range of.applied loads involving both mild and severe wear regions were measured and implemented in the *** f.M was in good agreement with the *** model reproduced the stress distribution prof.les under variable testing conditions,while their values were af.ected by the sliding direction and maximum wear depth(hmax).The largest area of.the wear prof.le,exposed to the average contact stresses,is def.ned as the normal *** the critical zones were characterized by high stress concentrations reaching up to 10 times of.that at the normal *** wear prof.le was mapped to identif. the critical zone where the stress concentration is the k.y point in this *** surf.ce f.atures were examined in dif.erent regions using scanning electron microscope(SEM).Ultimately,SEM analysis showed severer damage f.atures in the critical zone than that in the normal zone as proven by ***,the literature data presented and considered the wear f.atures the same at any point of.the wear *** this study,the normal zone was determined at a stress value of.about 0.5 MPa,whereas the critical zone was at about 5.5 *** wear behaviour of.these two zones showed totally dif.erent f.atures f.om one another.

The Van Hoof.ef.ect is a phase shif. existing between the radial velocity curves of.hydrogen and metallic lines within the atmosphere of.pulsating *** this article,we present a study of.this phenomenon through the spectra of.the brightest pulsating star RR Lyr of.RR Lyrae stars recorded f.r 22 *** based ourselves,on the one hand,on 1268 spectra(41 nights of.observation)recorded between the years 1994 and 1997 at the Observatory of.Haute Provence(OHP,f.ance)previously observed by Chadid and Gillet,and on the other hand on 1569 spectra(46nights of.observation)recorded at our Ouk.imeden Observatory(Morocco)between 2015 and *** this study,we have detected inf.rmation on atmospheric dynamics that had not previously been ***,the Van Hoof.ef.ect which results in a clear correlation between the radial velocities of.hydrogen and those of.the metallic lines has been observed and analyzed at dif.erent Blazhk. phases.A correlation between the radial velocities of.dif.erent metallic lines located in the lower atmosphere has been observed as *** the f.rst time,we were able to show that the amplitude of.the radial velocity curves deduced f.om the lines of.hydrogen and that of.f.Ⅱ(λ4923.921?)increases toward the minimum of.the Blazhk. cycle and decreases toward the maximum of.the same Blazhk. ***,we f.und that the Van Hoof.ef.ect is also modulated by the Blazhk. ***,toward the minimum of.the Blazhk. cycle the Van Hoof.ef.ect is more visible and at the maximum of.the Blazhk. cycle,this ef.ect is *** also observed the temporal evolution of.the amplitudes of.the radial velocities of.the lower and upper *** observed over a long time,we can interpret it as a f.nction of.the Blazhk. phases.

While we eagerly anticipate SMILE’s(Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link.Explorer)unprecedented X-ray observations of.the Earth’s magnetosheath and the initiation of.a new era of.magnetospheric research,it seems appropriate to look.ahead to the abilities of.the next generation of.astrophysics *** these,the Line Emission Mapper(LEM),a large aperture micro-calorimeter based mission,is currently planned to be able to observe the magnetosheath at high spectral resolution(~2 eV).With a f.eld of.view of.30′,LEM will allow higher spatial resolution and higher cadence measurement of.the motion of.a very small portion of.the magnetopause over relatively short periods of.time(multiple hours),complementing SMILE’s global ***’s strength is its spectral *** will be able to measure the abundance of.a broad range of.elements and ionization states,many of.which are inaccessible to current in situ instruments,and will be able to separate the emission f.om the magnetosheath f.om the emission f.om the cosmic X-ray back.round using the dif.erence in their relative velocities.

The ef.ects of.a magnetic dipole on a nonlinear thermally radiative f.rromagnetic liquidﬂowing over a stretched surf.ce in the presence of.Brownian motion and thermophoresis are *** means of.a similarity transf.rmation,ordinary dif.erential equations are derived and solved af.erwards using a numerical(the BVP4C)*** impact of.various parameters,namely the velocity,temperature,concentration,is presented *** is shown that the nanoparticles properties,in conjunction with the magnetic dipole ef.ect,can increase the thermal conductivity of.the engineered nanoﬂuid and,consequently,the heat *** with earlier studies indicates high accuracy and ef.ectiveness of.the numerical *** increase in the Brow-nian motion parameter and thermophoresis parameter enhances the concentration and the related boundary *** sk.n-f.iction rises when the viscosity parameter is increased.A larger value of.the f.rromagnetic para-meter results in a higher sk.n-f.iction and,vice versa,in a smaller Nusselt number.
