Autophagy in hepatitis C virus-host interactions:potential roles and therapeutic targets for liver-associated diseases

Autophagy is a lysosome-associated,degradative process that catabolizes cytosolic components to recycle nutrients for further use and maintain cell *** C virus(HCV)is a major cause of chronic hepatitis,which often leads to end-stage liverassociated diseases and is a significant burden on worldwide public *** lines of evidence indicate that autophagy plays an important role in promoting the HCV life cycle in host ***,the diverse impacts of autophagy on a variety of signaling pathways in HCV-infected cells suggest that the autophagic process is required for balancing HCVhost cell interactions and involved in the pathogenesis of HCV-related liver ***,the detailed molecular mechanism underlying how HCV activates autophagy to benefit viral growth is still ***,how the autophagic response contributes to disease progression in HCV-infected cells remains largely ***,in this review,we overview the interplay between autophagy and the HCV life cycle and propose possible mechanisms by which autophagy may promote the pathogenesis of HCVassociated chronic liver ***,we outline the related studies on how autophagy interplays with HCV replication and discuss the possible implications of autophagy and viral replication in the progression of HCV-induced liver diseases,e.g.,steatosis and hepatocellular ***,we explore the potential therapeutics that target autophagy to cure HCV infection and its related liver diseases.

Hybrid Silicon-Carbon Nanostructured Composites as Superior Anodes for Lithium Ion Batteries

We have successfully fabricated a hybrid silicon-carbon nanostructured composite with large area （about 25.5 in^2） in a simple fashion using a conventional sputtering system. When used as the anode in lithium ion batteries, the uniformly deposited amorphous silicon （a-Si） works as the active material to store electrical energy, and the pre-coated carbon nanofibers （CNFs） serve as both the electron conducting pathway and a strain/stress relaxation layer for the sputtered a-Si layers during the intercalation process of lithium ions. As a result, the as-fabricated lithium ion batteries, with deposited a-Si thicknesses of 200 nm or 300 nm, not only exhibit a high specific capacity of 〉2000 mA.h/g, but also show a good capacity retention of over 80% and Coulombic efficiency of 〉98% after a large number of charge/discharge experiments. Our approach offers an efficient and scalable method to obtain silicon-carbon nanostructured composites for application in lithium ion batteries.

Effect of Temperature, pH and Salt on Fluorescent Quality of Water Extractable Organic Matter in Black Soil

Water erosion is the major reason for the loss of soil organic carbon in the Northeast China, which leads to the soil quality deterioration and adjacent water pollution. In this study, the effect of extraction temperature, pH value, and salt on the water extractable organic matter （WEOM） was determined by means of the UV absorbance, fluorescence excitation-emission matrix, and derived fluorescence indexes. In general, the carbon content and aromaticity of WEOM increased with the increasing of extraction temperature, with the exception that there was no significant difference in the amount at 0 and 20℃. More fluorophores, especially microbially-derived organic matter were extracted at high temperature. The pH values of extractant, including 5, 7, and 10, showed no effect on the carbon amount of WEOM, whereas the aromaticity and microbially-derived component gradually increased with the increasing of pH values. The fluorescence intensity of humic acid-like fluorophore was stronger in neutral and alkali condition than that in acidic condition. The addition of 10 mmol L-1 CaCl2 significantly decreased the carbon amount of recovered WEOM. Moreover, it significantly decreased the aromaticity of WEOM and the quantity of fulvic acid-like and humic acid-like fluorophores, whereas increased the percentage of tyrosine-like and tryptophan-like fluorophores in the total fluorophores and the amount of microbially-derived organic matter. Generally, 10 mmol L-1 KCl showed the same influence trend, but with low influence degree.

Characteristics of Mechanical Properties and Microstructure for 316L Austenitic Stainless Steel

A comparative study on mechanical properties and microstructure of 316L austenitic stainless steel between solution treated specimen and hot rolled specimen was conducted. After a specimen was subjected to solution treatment at 1 050 ℃ for 6 min, its mechanical properties were determined through tensile and hardness tests. Based on the true stress vs true strain and engineering stress vs engineering strain flow curves, the work hardening rate has been explored. The results show that the solution treated specimen has an excellent combination of strength and elongation, and that this steel is easy to work-hardening during deformation. Optical microscope, scanning electron micro- scope, transmission electron microscope and X-ray diffraction examinations were conducted, these reveal that twins in 316L austenitic stainless steel can be divided into suspended twin and transgranular twin which have different for mation mechanisms in growth, and that the deformation induced martensite nucleated and grown in the shear band intersections can be observed, and that the fracture surfaces are mainly composed of dimples and exhibit a tough fracture character.

This paper introduces a novel transform method to produce the newly generated programs through code transform model called the second generation of Generative Pre-trained Transformer(GPT-2)reasonably,improving the program execution performance ***,a theoretical estimation in statistics has given the minimum number of generated programs as required,which guarantees to find the best one within *** proposed approach can help the voice assistant machine resolve the problem of inefficient execution of application *** addition to GPT-2,this study develops the variational Simhash algorithm to check the code similarity between sample program and newly generated program,and conceives the piecewise longest common subsequence algorithm to examine the execution’s conformity from the two programs mentioned *** code similarity check deducts the redundant generated programs,and the output conformity check finds the best-performing generative *** addition to texts,the proposed approach can also prove the other media,including images,sounds,and *** a result,the newly generated program outperforms the sample program significantly because the number of code lines reduces 27.21%,and the program execution time shortens 24.62%.

Advances in photocatalytic disinfection of bacteria:Development of photocatalysts and mechanisms

Photocatalysis has attracted worldwide attention due to its potential in solar energy *** a ＂green＂ advanced oxidation technology, it has been extensively used for water disinfection and wastewater treatment. This article provides a review of the recent progress in solar energy-induced photocatalytic disinfection of bacteria, focusing on the development of highly efficient photocatalysts and their underlying mechanisms in bacterial inactivation. The photocatalysts are classified into Ti O2-based and non-Ti O2-based systems, as Ti O2 is the most investigated photocatalyst. The synthesis methods, modification strategies, bacterial disinfection activities and mechanisms of different types of photocatalysts are reviewed in *** is given to the modified Ti O2, including noble metal deposition, non-metal doping,dye sensitization and composite Ti O2, along with typical non-Ti O2-based photocatalysts for bacterial disinfection, including metal oxides, sulfides, bismuth metallates, graphene-based photocatalysts, carbon nitride-based photocatalysts and natural photocatalysts. A simple and versatile methodology by using a partition system combined with scavenging study is introduced to study the photocatalytic disinfection mechanisms in different photocatalytic systems. This review summarizes the current state of the work on photocatalytic disinfection of bacteria, and is expected to offer useful insights for the future development in the field.

Volume transport in the East Taiwan Channel in response to diff erent tracks of typhoons as revealed by HYCOM data

Northward infl ow through the East Taiwan Channel is vital in modulation of water exchange processes off northeastern Taiwan,*** addition to the eff ects of the Kuroshio Current and westward-propagating oceanic mesoscale eddies,the seas off eastern Taiwan,China,are frequently infl uenced by *** on extrema of East Taiwan Channel volume transport(ETCVT)that appear within days of typhoon infl uence,this study investigated 124 historical cyclones including 91 typhoons that passed over the study sea area off eastern Taiwan,*** on 25-year HYbrid Coordinate Ocean Model(HYCOM)data,71%of short-term(within 10 d)ETCVT absolute values with>5 Sv occurred under the infl uence of typhoons crossing the study sea area,and the maximum short-term ETCVT extrema induced by typhoons were 12.5 and-10.9 *** ETCVT extrema induced by typhoons showed reasonable positive correlation with typhoon wind *** importantly,the ETCVT extrema diff ered in response to diff erent typhoon *** types of typhoon were identifi ed based on their track and impact on *** typhoon cases were examined to elucidate the specifi cs of each typical *** on historical best track data and HYCOM data,it was established that Type I typhoons caused the ETCVT to exhibit a negative extremum followed by a positive *** Type I,II,and III typhoons tended to result in typical ETCVT fl uctuations in the surface mixing layer above the depth of 50-100 m,while Type II typhoons were more likely to induce ETCVT fl uctuations in the subsurface *** fi ndings of this study enhance understanding of ETCVT extrema that occur following typhoon passage,which is valuable for short-term physical-biogeochemical studies both in the study region and in areas downstream owing to the large net volume transport changes induced by typhoons.

A novel real-time monitoring system for photovoltaic(PV)generation is presented in this *** of Things(IoT)integrated with cloud servers and terminal applications allow the remote monitoring of centralized or distributed pho-tovoltaic *** proposed system could realize the net-working communication of multiple nodes based on ZigBee,and upload the operational data to the cloud server via a 4G communications ***,the server selects three-phase current as the sample sets from the uploaded data to set up a composite current characteristic combining wavelet packet en-ergy with waveform parameter,and establishes a fault diagnosis model based on the probabilistic neural network to analyze the health status of the PV inverter *** method requires little sampling frequency without an extra signal and saves the cost of local devices by placing online diagnostics on the *** addition,the user could query and store the running information of the PV systems through the personal computer-side web or mobile phone with remote *** article presents the hardware design of ZigBee and the 4G module,and composition of the diagnosis model for open circuit failure of the PV inverter through the cloud server,building the user software at the application *** final experimental results show that the proposed system has better communication performance and higher diagnostic accuracy in real-time monitoring.
