The cotton fiber reinforced polyester composites were fabricated with varying amount of graphite fillers (0,3,5 wt.％) with a hand lay-up *** tests were planned by using a response surface (Box Behnken method) design of experiments and conducted on a pin-on-disc machine (POD) test *** effect of the weight percentage of graphite content on the dry sliding wear behavior of cotton fiber polyester composite (CFPC) was examined by considering the effect of operating parameters like load,speed,and sliding *** wear test results showed the inclusion of 5 wt.％ of graphite as fillers in CFPC increase wear resistance compared to 3 wt.％ of graphite *** graphite fillers were recommended for CFPC to increase the wear resistance of the material.A scanning electron microscope (SEm) was used to study the wear *** predict the wear behavior of the composite material,comparisons were made between the general regression technique and an artificial neural network (ANN).The conformation test results revealed the predicted wear with the ANN was acceptable when compared with the actual experimental results and the regression mathematical models.

LoSI: Large Scale Location Inference Through Fm Signal Integration and Estimation

In this paper we present a large scale, passive positioning system that can be used for approximate localization in Global Positioning System(GPS) denied/spoofed environments. This system can be used for detecting GPS spoofing as well as for initial position estimation for input to other GPS free positioning and navigation systems like Terrain Contour matching(TERCOm). Our Location inference through Frequency modulation(Fm)Signal Integration and estimation(LoSI) system is based on broadcast Fm radio signals and uses Received Signal Strength Indicator(RSSI) obtained using a Software Defined Radio(SDR). The RSSI thus obtained is used for indexing into an estimated model of expected Fm spectrum for the entire United States. We show that with the hardware for data acquisition, a single point resolution of around 3 miles and associated algorithms, we are capable of positioning with errors as low as a single pixel(more precisely around 0.12 mile). The algorithm uses a largescale model estimation phase that computes the expected Fm spectrum in small rectangular cells(realized using geohashes) across the Contiguous United States(CONUS). We define and use Dominant Channel Descriptor(DCD) features, which can be used for positioning using time varying models. Finally we use an algorithm based on Euclidean nearest neighbors in the DCD feature space for position estimation. The system first runs a DCD feature detector on the observed spectrum and then solves a subset query formulation to find Inference Candidates(IC).Finally, it uses a simple Euclidean nearest neighbor search on the ICs to localize the observation. We report results on 1500 points across Florida using data and model estimates from 2015 and 2017. We also provide a Bayesian decision theoretic justification for the nearest neighbor search.

metal nanoparticle （NP） co-catalysts on metal oxide semiconductor supports are attracting attention as photocatalysts for a variety of chemical reactions. Related efforts seek to make and use Pt-free catalysts. In this regard, we report here enhanced CH4 formation rates of 25 and 60 μmol·g^-1·h^-1 by photocatalytic CO2 reduction using hitherto unused ZnPd NPs as well as Au and Ru NPs. The NPs are formed by colloidal synthesis and grafted onto short n-type anatase TiO2 nanotube arrays （TNAs）, grown anodically on transparent glass substrates. The interfacial electric fields in the NP-grafted TiO2 nanotubes were probed by ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy （UPS）. Au NP-grafted TiO2 nanotubes （Au-TNAs） showed no band bending, but a depletion region was detected in Ru NP-grafted TNAs （Ru-TNAs） and an accumulation layer was observed in ZnPd NP-grafted TNAs （ZnPd-TNAs）. Temperature programmed desorption （TPD） experiments showed significantly greater CO2 adsorption on NP-grafted TNAs. TNAs with grafted NPs exhibit broader and more intense UV-visible absorption bands than bare TNAs. We found that CO2 photoreduction by nanoparticle-grafted TNAs was driven not only by ultraviolet photons with energies greater than the TiO2 band gap, but also by blue photons close to and below the anatase band edge. The enhanced rate of CO2 reduction is attributed to superior use of blue photons in the solar spectrum, excellent reactant adsorption, efficient charge transfer to adsorbates, and low recombination losses.

Galvanic corrosion of AZ31B joined to dual-phase steel with and without Zn layer by ultrasonic and friction stir welding

Galvanic corrosion of AZ31B joined with bare or Zn-coated DP590 steel by ultrasonic spot welding or linear friction stir welding was quantitatively studied by pre-defining anode and cathode in the lap joint samples. Corrosion volume and depth from mg anode surfaces exposed to 0.1 m sodium chloride solution was analyzed as functions of cathode surface type and welding method. Characterization of as-welded joints was performed to identify any microstructural feature of the bonding zone that could impact galvanic corrosion *** modeling with modified user subroutine was conducted to simulate the progression of mg corrosion in the same joint and electrode configurations used for the corrosion experiments. The experimental results indicated that Zn-coated cathode surface can reduce mg galvanic corrosion significantly as galvanic polarization and cathodic current on Zn-coated surface remained relatively low for mg in the weld *** modeling described the growth of mg galvanic corrosion in a reasonable manner but showed limitation by underestimating the corrosion volume as it did not capture self-corrosion.

Are fails more common than road traffic accidents in pediatric trauma？ Experience from a Level 1 trauma centre in New Delhi, India

Purpose： The epidemiology of pediatric trauma is different in different parts of the world. Some researchers suggest falls as the most common mechanism, whereas others report road traffic accidents （RTAs） as the most common cause. The aim of this study is to find out the leading cause of pediatric admissions in Trauma Surgery in New Delhi, India. methods： Inpatient data from January 2012 to September 2014 was searched retrospectively in Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre Trauma Registry. All patients aged 18 years or less on index presentation admitted to surgical ward/ICU or later taken transfer by the Department of Trauma Surgery were included. Data were retrieved in predesigned proformas. Information thus compiled was coded in unique alphanumeric codes for each variable and subjected to statistical analysis using SPSS version 21. Results： We had 300 patients over a 33 month period. Among them, 236 （78.6%） were males and 64 （21.3%） females. Overall the predominant cause was RTAs in 132 （43%） patients. On subgroup analysis of up to 12 years age group （n - 147）, the most common cause was found to be RTAs again. However, falls showed an incremental upward trend （36.05% in up to 12 age group versus 27% overall）, catching up with RTAs （44.89%）. Pediatric Trauma Score （PTS） ranged from 0 to 12 with a mean of 8.12 _＋ 2.022. 223 （74.33%） patients experienced trauma limited to one anatomic region only, whereas 77 （25.66%） patients suffered polytrauma. 288 patients were discharged to home care. Overall, 12 patients expired in the cohort. median hospital stay was 6 days （range 1-182）. Conclusion： Pediatric trauma is becoming a cause of increasing concern, especially in the developing countries. The leading cause of admissions in Trauma Surgery is RTAs （43%） as compared to falls from height （27%）; however, falls from height are showing an increasing trend as we move to younger age groups. Cloud computing is currently an embryonic domain in the area of information technology that possesses the power of transforming the way information technology （IT） services are delivered and maintained in the business world. Pay as per the usage kind of cost structure coupled with delivery of computing services through internet makes cloud computing an exciting and potential growth oriented information technology model compared with conventional computing services delivery models. Various additional features like scalability, flexibility and easy deployment process creates a window for the organizations even relatively smaller in size to get benefitted by the highly advanced ＆ modern technologies without incurring substantial cost. In spite of so many benefits of this new delivery model, concerns are beginning to grow about how safe an environment it is. Despite of all the hype surrounding the cloud, enterprise customers are still reluctant to deploy their business in the cloud. Security is one of the major issues which reduces the growth of cloud computing and complications with data privacy and data protection continue to plague the market. Other related concerns associated with the adoption of cloud computing include trust on service providers, loss of control and compliance issues. This paper is an attempt to explore security ＆ trust issues linked with cloud computing adoption in the Small and medium Enterprises （SmE） sector.
