Prevalence and Perceptions about Migraine among Students and Patients in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan

Migraine is a common neurological disorder, prevalent in almost all over the world population and being considered as the 13th major medical disorder among other major disorders across the globe, generally characterized with unilateral or bilateral headache, nausea and vomiting. In developing world, countries like Pakistan, most of the patients are not well aware of migraine headaches, as usually taken for simple headache due to no proper awareness. Usually it is not a contagious condition and most of the time it is recoded as episodic in nature. To assess the migraine, its frequency, symptoms, usual triggers and patients’ perceptions, the present study was conducted. For this purpose a prospective study was carried out based on properly designed questionnaire. The data were collected from 7 educational institutes, including students of Islamia College Peshawar, University of Peshawar, Khyber Medical College, Engineering University Peshawar, Fatima Jinnah College Peshawar, Commerce College Peshawar and Agriculture University Peshawar. Part of data was also collected from patients visiting Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar for their headache problems. A total of 270 questionnaires were filled up. About 81 (30.00%) headache cases were recorded, fulfilling the International criteria of Headache. Out of 81 recorded cases, 31 (38.3%) patients were of migraine with aura and 50 (61.7%) were of migraine without aura condition. The prevalence of migraine in the study population was found to be 30.00%. The frequency of female migraine patients was higher i.e. 31 (34.1%) than the male sufferers 50 (27.9%). The present study clearly showed that the higher frequency (65.0%) of migraine exists in the age group of above 30 years age. The most prevalent trigger was found to be tension, which was in parallel followed by the lack of sleep or oversleeping. A family history for migraine was found in migraine patients. Iron Deficiency Anemia in School Age Children in District Karak Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan

The present study aimed to estimate the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in school-going children. Both Iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia have considerable adverse effect on human health. Among the different negative health concerns, including stunt development, less developed immunity, lower IQ level, no proper physical work capacity, more fatigue, maternal mortality rates, young ones born with low birth weight, birth complications and infant mortality rates are some of the remarkable health concerns posed by iron deficiency level. Our study sample was consisting of 420 school age children of both genders. The blood samples were collected in EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) tubes from different school and health maternity centres by trained and veteran persons. Questionnaires were utilised for the data collection, at the time of blood samples collection. Hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrite (Hct), Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), white blood cell and red blood cell (RBC) were determine by automatic hematological analyzer model Symex Ks-21 having two reagents, cell pack and Stromatolyser-wwt 500 ml. The total percentage of anemia recorded in school age children was 34.0%. In tehsil Banda Daud Shah, the incidence of anemia was high up to 43.6% while in tehsil Takhti Nasrati and Karak was 32.1% and 26.4% respectively. The percentage was higher in girls (38.9%) than in boys (31.0%). The anemia percentage was recorded high (55.8%) in lower socioeconomic family children, than middle class (32.2%) and upper class (17%). The percentage of anemic children was also high (40%) in age group of 10 - 12 years. Pale skin was the most common symptom of anemia.

Isolation and Identification of Multi-Drug Resistant Strains of Non-Lactose Fermenting Bacteria from Clinical Isolates

Purpose: We studied the drug resistance of different microbes from clinical isolates. The morphological characteristics of bacteria were observed through culture characteristics and by carrying out gram staining techniques while the biochemical characteristics of bacteria were carried out by biochemical test. Methods: A total of 324 samples were collected from suspected patients visiting different hospitals at district Peshawar. For morphological identification, samples of clinical isolates were analyzed by blood agar, MacConkey agar and Eosine Methylene Blue, identified by gram staining and characterized by different biochemical tests. Antibiotic Sensitivity test by Modified Kirby-Bauer Disc diffusion method was used to test the in-vitro susceptibility of the identified isolates to different antibiotics such as Ceftazidime, Ceftazidime, Ceftriaxone, Cefepime and Imipenem. Results: These resistant non-lactose fermenting gram negative bacteria were isolated from samples of pus/wound (33.30%, n = 108/324), blood (33.30%, n = 108/324), urine (23.30%, n = 75/324) and from ascetic/pleural fluids (10.20%, n = 33/324). The study revealed that the percentage of non-fermenting bacterial infection was higher in females (53%) as compared to males (47%) along with higher infection observed in the age group of 11 - 30 years. Pseudomonas aeroginosa showed high resistance against Cefepime (88.80%), followed by Cefoperazone (55.50%), Ceftazidime (48.10%), Ceftriaxone (33.30%). Imipenem was active with low resistance (7.40%). More resistance was seen in Morganella morganii against Imipenem (66.70%) followed by Cefoperazone (55.50%), Ceftriaxone (55.50%). Cefepime showed low resistance (11%). Multi-drug resistant Proteus mirabillis was highly resistance to Ceftriaxone (74.07%), followed by Cefepime (59.20%), Cefoperazone (44.40%) and low resistance for Imipenem (25.90%). An Energy-Efficient 12b 2.56 MS/s SAR ADC Using Successive Scaling of Reference Voltages

This paper presents an energy efficient architecture for successive approximation register(SAR)analog to digital converter(ADC).SAR ADCs with a capacitor array structure have been widely used because of its simple architecture and relatively high ***,conventional SAR ADCs consume relatively high energy due to the large number of capacitors used in the capacitor array and their sizes scaled up along with the number of *** proposed architecture reduces the energy consumption as well as the capacitor size by employing a new array architecture that scales down the reference voltages instead of scaling up the capacitor *** proposed 12-bit SAR ADC is implemented in Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor(CMOS)0.13 um library using Cadence Virtuoso design *** results and mathematical model demonstrate the overall energy savings of up to 97.3%compared with conventional SAR ADC,67%compared with the SAR ADC with split capacitor,and 35%compared with the resistor and capacitor(R&C)Hybrid SAR *** ADC achieves an effective number of bits(ENOB)of 11.27 bits and consumes 61.7 uW at sampling rate of 2.56 MS/s,offering an energy consumption of 9.8 fJ per conversion *** proposed SAR ADC offers 95.5%reduction in chip core area compared to conventional architecture,while occupying an active area of 0.088 mm2.

This study examined the sources,health risk and pollution status of selected inorganic contaminants such as iron(Fe),nickel(Ni),cadmium(Cd),cobalt(Co),arsenic(As),manganese(Mn),lead(Pb),copper(Cu),zinc(Zn),and chromium(Cr) in representative roadside uncontaminated soil(n=72) from the Egi crude oil mining areas(Oboburu,Obagi,and Ogbogu),Niger Delta,Nigeria,using a combination of multiple models(Principle component analysis(PCA),correlation analysis,geo-accumulation index(Igeo),contamination factor(CF),enrichment factor(EF),pollution load index(PLI),cancer risk(CR),hazard quotient(HQ),and metal daily intake(MDIm)).A random sampling method was applied in the sampling and analysis using inductively coupled plasma mass *** result revealed that the mean(mg/kg) for Oboburu,was the highest for Fe(89.95 ± 28.83) and Mn(26.12 ± 7.642),whereas Obagi,had less Fe(28.90 ± 7.601) and Mn(16.80 ± 5.021),and Ogbogu,Fe(44.67 ± 28.15) and Pb(19.38± 8.731) was the second highest heavy *** order of contamination was F> Mn> Zn> Pb> Cu> Cr> Ni> Cd> *** Igeo and CF had cadmium as a metal of *** contamination level was low from the PLI *** EF revealed anthropogenic sources for all the metals except for Ni,which was *** correlations at p <0.05 and p <0.01 showed much positive significance amongst the *** of the cumulative percentages,loading percentages,and eigenvalues from the regression plot gave a coefficients of determination(r2) of 0.9936,0.9995,and 0.9994,*** PCA indicated that Cd and Ni were of anthropogenic origin;Mn,Fe,and Co were biogenic or natural,and Zn and Pb were of mixed *** CR assessment indicated a possible cancer risk due to Cr,Cd,and Ni,and the rest of elements have no carcinogenic *** findings suggest there should be regular monitoring,source control,and integrated environmental management of the study area.

Spectroscopic Study on Interaction of/3-Cyclodextrin with Triprolidine Hydrochloride

The complexation of triprolidine hydrochloride （TRP） and β-cyclodextrin （β-CD） in deuterium oxide was investigated by 400 MHz 1^H NMR spectroscopy. The 800 MHz 2D ROESY data revealed that two 1 ：1 and one 2 ： 1 β-CD-TRP inclusion complexes were formed. Both aromatic moieties （p-tolyl and pyridyl ring） has entered into the β-CD cavity, confirming the existence of two different equilibria for 1 ： 1 inclusion complexes in which p-tolyl ring of the guest is more tightly held by the host cavity. The ROE intermolecular interactions provided the plausible structures of these 1 ： 1 and 2 ： 1 stoichiometric inclusion complexes of β-CD-triprolidine hydrochloride in solu- tion.

This article introduces a fastmeshless algorithm for the numerical solution nonlinear partial differential equations(PDE)by Radial Basis Functions(RBFs)approximation connected with the Total Variation(TV)-basedminimization functional and to show its application to image denoising containing multiplicative *** capabilities used within the proposed algorithm have not only the quality of image denoising,edge preservation but also the property of minimization of staircase effect which results in blocky effects in the *** is worth mentioning that the recommended method can be easily employed for nonlinear problems due to the lack of dependence on a mesh or integration *** numerical investigations and corresponding examples prove the effectiveness of the recommended algorithm regarding the robustness and visual improvement as well as peak-signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR),signal-to-noise ratio(SNR),and structural similarity index(SSIM)corresponded to the current conventional TV-based schemes.

目的研究植物碱蓬内生真菌曲霉TQ67次级代谢产物。方法采用ODS反相柱色谱、高效液相色谱、半制备HPLC等方法对发酵液及菌丝体部分分离纯化,运用核磁、质谱等现代波谱分析方法对化合物进行结构鉴定。结果得到8个化合物:aspermutarubrol(1)、sydowiols D(2)、sydowiols E(3)、细交链孢酮酸(4)、(E)-5-(羟甲基)-2-(6'-甲基-2'-庚烯-2'-基)酚(5)、sydonol(6)、(7S)-(+)-7-O-methylsydonol(7)和hydroxysydonic acid(8)。化合物2/3和化合物1其DPPH的IC_(50)分别为(9.79±0.33)和(32.30±1.02)μg·mL^(-1),FRAP值分别为(230.55±2.50)和(278.99±8.32)μg·mL^(-1)。结论从碱蓬内生真菌曲霉TQ67中分离得到的化合物2/3和化合物1有较强的抗氧化活性。
