Several potential oxidative agents have damaging effects on mammalian reproductive *** study was conducted to investigate the effects of glutamate(Glu)and aspartate(Asp)supplementation on antioxidant enzymes and immune defense systems in the outer scrotum of boars injected with H2O2.A total of 24 healthy boars were randomly divided into 4 treatment groups:control(basal diet,saline-treated),H2O2(basal diet,H2O2-challenged outer scrotum(1 m L kg^–1 BW)),Glu(basal diet+2%Glu,H2O2-challenged),and Asp(basal diet+2%Asp,H2O2-challenged).Our results showed that both Glu and Asp supplementation improved testicular morphology and decreased the genital index in the H2O2-treated *** and Asp administration increased the antioxidant enzyme activities and affected the testicular inflammatory cytokine secretion but had no effect on sex hormone ***,the m RNA expression of CAT,Cu Zn SOD,and GPx4 was altered in the testes and epididymis of boars treated with Asp and *** and Asp supplementation also modulated the expression of TGF-β1,IL-10,TNF-α,IL-6 and IL-1βin the testis and *** results indicate that dietary Glu and Asp supplementation might enhance antioxidant capacity and regulate the secretion and expression of inflammatory cytokines to protect the testes and epididymis of boars against oxidative stress.

农学著作《齐民要术·养鸡五十九》记载:“麻子和谷,炒熟饲喂,日日生蛋不绝”,可见人们在农业上应用中医药原理早有初探。随着技术发展,人们对化肥和农药过分依赖,忽视了中医药方法与原理在农业中的实践应用。同时,传统中医更侧重于对人类疾病的治疗,极少关注其在农业领域的应用。中药在生态农业层面尽管有初步探寻,但未取得突破性进展。长沙医学院多年来一直致力于中医药农业实践研究,在植物保护与生态农业等方面取得了一系列成果,如研究发明了中药农药、中药饲料、中药肥料、中药蚊香等系列产品,提出了中医药农业的构想,将中医药原理方法应用于农业领域,以实现传统中医药与现代农业的跨界融合,实现优势互补与集成创新,实现农业的可持续发展;发展中医药农业,产出科研成果,实现农业的无公害生产,实现一流生态环境造福百姓,实现绿色农业科技的革命创新实践。

1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 protects obese rats from metabolic syndrome via promoting regulatory T cell-mediated resolution of inflammation

Vitamin D_3 has been found to produce therapeutic effects on obesity-associated insulin resistance and dyslipidemia through its potent anti-inflammatory activity, but the precise immunomodulatory mechanism remains poorly understood. In the present study we found that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D_3[1,25(OH)_2D_3], the biologically active form of vitamin D_3, significantly attenuated monosodium glutamate(MSG)-induced obesity and insulin resistance as indicated by body weight reduction, oral glucose tolerance improvement, and a glucose infusion rate increase as detected with hyperinsulinemiceuglycemic clamp. Moreover, 1,25(OH)_2D_3 not only restored pancreatic islet functions but also improved lipid metabolism in insulin-targeted tissues. The protective effects of 1,25(OH)_2D_3 on glycolipid metabolism were attributed to its ability to inhibit an obesity-activated inflammatory response in insulin secretory and targeted tissues, as indicated by reduced infiltration of macrophages in pancreas islets and adipose tissue while enhancing the expression of Tgf-β1 in liver tissue, which was accompanied byincreased infiltration of Treg cells in immune organs such as spleen and lymph node as well as in insulintargeted tissues such as liver, adipose, and muscle. Together, our findings suggest that 1,25(OH)_2D_3 serves as a beneficial immunomodulator for the prevention and treatment of obesity or metabolic syndrome through its anti-inflammatory effects.

Pulmonary fibrosis(PF)is a chronic,progressive,fatal interstitial lung disease with limited available therapeutic *** recently reported that the protein kinase glycogen synthase kinase-3β(GSK-3β)interacts with and inactivates the ubiquitin-editing enzyme A20 to suppress the degradation of the transcription factor CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein beta(C/EBPβ)in alveolar macrophages(AMs),resulting in a profibrotic phenotype of AMs and promoting the development of ***,we showed that chronic lung injury upregulated the stress response protein tribbles homolog 3(TRIB3),which interacted with GSK-3βand stabilized GSK-3βfrom ubiquitination and *** GSK-3βexpression phosphorylated A20 to inhibit its ubiquitin-editing activity,causing the accumulation of C/EBPβand the production of several profibrotic factors in AMs and promoting PF *** C/EBPβ,in turn,increased the transcription of TRIB3 and GSK-3β,thereby establishing a positive feedback loop in *** knockdown of TRIB3 expression or the pharmacologic disruption of the TRIB3-GSK-3βinteraction was an effective PF *** study reveals an intact profibrotic axis of TRIB3-GSK-3β-A20-C/EBPβin AMs,which represents a target that may provide a promising treatment strategy for PF.

Currently the main treatment of acute myeloid leukemia(AML)is chemotherapy combining hematopoietic stem cell ***,the unbearable side effect of chemotherapy and the high risk of life-threatening infections and disease relapse following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation restrict its application in clinical ***,there is an urgent need to develop alternative therapeutic tactics with significant efficacy and attenuated adverse ***,we revealed that umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells(UC-MSC)efficiently induced AML cell differentiation by shuttling the neutrophil elastase(NE)-packaged extracellular vesicles(EVs)into AML ***,the generation and release of NE-packaged EVs could be dramatically increased by vitamin D receptor(VDR)activation in *** activation of VDR by using its agonist 1a,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 efficiently enhanced the pro-differentiation capacity of UC-MSC and then alleviated malignant burden in AML mouse *** on these discoveries,to evade the risk of hypercalcemia,we synthetized and identified sw-22,a novel non-steroidal VDR agonist,which exerted a synergistic prodifferentiation function with UC-MSC on mitigating the progress of ***,our findings provided a non-gene editing MSC-based therapeutic regimen to overcome the differentiation blockade in AML.

Psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the Infertility Self-Efficacy Scale

Objective:To translate the English version of Infertility Self-Efficacy Scale into Chinese and to validate the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the Infertility Self-Efficacy Scale(CISE).Method(s):Participants were recruited from the Gynecology Department of two city *** main processes were involved in the formation of CISE[1]:scale translation based on expert consultation[2];pre-test questionnaire development with infertile women's feedback(N=20)[3];factor structure assessed by exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis(N=177)[4];assessment of reliability by internal consistency(N=177)and test-retest reliability(N=21);and[5]assessment of convergent validity with Self-rating Anxiety Scale,Self-rating Depression Scale,and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(N=177).Results:This study established a 16-item *** analyses confirmed a onecomponent solution,which explained 54.59% of total variances and showed an acceptable model ***'s a and test-retest correlation coefficients for the scale were 0.94 and 0.84,*** CISE score was significantly correlated with anxiety(r=0.47),depression(r=0.60),positive coping style(r=0.37),and certain negative coping style ***:This 16-item CISE is a reliable and valid measure to evaluate perceived selfefficacy among a sample of Chinese women who underwent infertility treatment.

Immune cells play key roles in cancer and chronic inflammatory disease. A better understanding of the mechanisms and risks will help develop novel target therapies. At the 2017 International Workshop of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Initiative for Innovative Medicine on Tumor Immunology held in Beijing, China, on May 12, 2017, a number of speakers reported new findings and ongoing studies on immune-related diseases such as cancer, fibrotic disease, diabetes, and others. A considerably insightful overview was provided on cancer immunity, tumor microenvironments,and new immunotherapy for cancer. In addition, chronic inflammatory diseases were discussed. These findings may offer new insights into targeted immunotherapy.

Zhigancao decoction is a traditional prescription for treating irregular pulse and palpitations in *** the monarch drug of Zhigancao decoction,the bioactive molecules of licorice against heart diseases remain *** established the HRESIMS-guided method leading to the isolation of three novel bicyclic peptides,glycnsisitins A-C(1-3),with distinctive C-C and C-O-C side-chain-toside-chain linkages from the roots of Glycyrrhiza uralensis(Licorice).Glycnsisitin A demonstrated stronger cardioprotective activity than glycnsisitins B and C in an in vitro model of doxorubicin(DOX)-induced cardiomyocyte *** A treatment not only reduced the mortality of heart failure(HF)mice in a dose-dependent manner but also significantly attenuated DOX-induced cardiac dysfunction and myocardial *** set enrichment analysis(GSEA)of the differentially expressed genes indicated that the cardioprotective effect of glycnsisitin A was mainly attributed to its ability to maintain iron homeostasis in the ***,glycnsisitin A interacted with transferrin and facilitated its binding to the transferrin receptor(TFRC),which caused increased uptake of iron in *** findings highlight the key role of bicyclic peptides as bioactive molecules of Zhigancao decoction for the treatment of HF,and glycnsisitin A constitutes a promising therapeutic agent for the treatment of HF.
