Instance Segmentation and Berry Counting of Table Grape before Thinning Based on AS-SwinT

Berry thinning is one of the most important tasks in the management of high-quality table grapes.Farmers often thin the berries per cluster to a standard number by counting.With an aging population,it is hard to find adequate skilled farmers to work during thinning season.It is urgent to design an intelligent berry-thinning machine to avoid exhaustive repetitive labor.A machine vision system that can determine the number of berries removed and locate the berries removed is a challenge for the thinning machine.A method for instance segmentation of berries and berry counting in a single bunch is proposed based on AS-SwinT.In AS-Swin T,Swin Transformer is performed as the backbone to extract the rich characteristics of grape berries.An adaptive feature fusion is introduced to the neck network to sufficiently preserve the underlying features and enhance the detection of small berries.The size of berries in the dataset is statistically analyzed to optimize the anchor scale,and Soft-NMS is used to filter the candidate frames to reduce the missed detection of densely shaded berries.Finally,the proposed method could achieve 65.7 AP^(box),95.0 AP^(box)_(0.5),57 AP^(box)_(s),62.8 AP^(mask)94.3 AP^(mask)_(0.5),48 AP^(mask)_(s),which is markedly superior to Mask R-CNN,Mask Scoring R-CNN,and Cascade Mask R-CNN.Linear regressions between predicted numbers and actual numbers are also developed to verify the precision of the proposed model.RMSE and R^(2)values are 7.13 and 0.95,respectively,which are substantially higher than other models,showing the advantage of the AS-SwinT model in berry counting estimation.

Control Strategies for Digital Twin Systems

With the continuous breakthrough in information technology and its integration into practical applications, industrial digital twins are expected to accelerate their development in the near future. This paper studies various control strategies for digital twin systems from the viewpoint of practical applications.To make full use of advantages of digital twins for control systems, an architecture of digital twin control systems, adaptive model tracking scheme, performance prediction scheme, performance retention scheme, and fault tolerant control scheme are proposed. Those schemes are detailed to deal with different issues on model tracking, performance prediction, performance retention, and fault tolerant control of digital twin systems. Also, the stability of digital twin control systems is analysed. The proposed schemes for digital twin control systems are illustrated by examples.

Tracking Control of Multi-Agent Systems Using a Networked Predictive PID Tracking Scheme

With the rapid development of network technology and control technology,a networked multi-agent control system is a key direction of modern industrial control systems,such as industrial Internet systems.This paper studies the tracking control problem of networked multi-agent systems with communication constraints,where each agent has no information on the dynamics of other agents except their outputs.A networked predictive proportional integral derivative(PPID)tracking scheme is proposed to achieve the desired tracking performance,compensate actively for communication delays,and simplify implementation in a distributed manner.This scheme combines the past,present and predictive information of neighbour agents to form a tracking error signal for each agent,and applies the proportional,integral,and derivative of the agent tracking error signal to control each individual agent.The criteria of the stability and output tracking consensus of multi-agent systems with the networked PPID tracking scheme are derived through detailed analysis on the closed-loop systems.The effectiveness of the networked PPID tracking scheme is illustrated via an example.

Efflux pump gene hefA of Helicobacter pylori plays an important role in multidrug resistance

AIM: To determine whether efflux systems contribute to multidrug resistance of H pylori. METHODS: A chloramphenicol-induced multidrug resistance model of six susceptible H pylori strains (5 isolates and H pylori NCTC11637) was developed. Multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains were selected and the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of eryth-romycin, metronidazole, penicillin G, tetracycline, and ciprofloxacin in multidrug resistant strains and their parent strains was determined by agar dilution tests. The level of mRNA expression of hefA was assessed by fluorescence real-time quantitative PCR. A H pylori LZ1026 knockout mutant (ΔH pylori LZ1026) for (puta-tive) efflux protein was constructed by inserting the kanamycin resistance cassette from pEGFP-N2 into hefA, and its susceptibility profiles to 10 antibiotics were evaluated. RESULTS: The MIC of six multidrug-resistant strains (including 5 clinical isolates and H pylori NCTC11637) increased signifi cantly (≥ 4-fold) compared with their parent strains. The expression level of hefA gene was significantly higher in the MDR strains than in their parent strains (P = 0.033). A H pylori LZ1026 mutant was successfully constructed and the ΔH pylori LZ1026 was more susceptible to four of the 10 antibiotics. All the 20 strains displayed transcripts for hefA that con-fi rmed the in vitro expression of these genes.CONCLUSION: The efflux pump gene hefA plays an important role in multidrug resistance of H pylori.

Coordination of Networked Nonlinear Multi-Agents Using a High-Order Fully Actuated Predictive Control Strategy

This paper is concerned with the coordinative control problem of networked nonlinear multi-agents(NNM)with communication delays.A high-order fully actuated(HOFA)model is introduced to describe the nonlinear multi-agents.Based on this model,a HOFA predictive coordination method is proposed to compensate for the communication delays actively and achieve simultaneous stability and consensus.This method largely simplifies the design of networked nonlinear multi-agents and makes the control performance be same for networked nonlinear multi-agents with and without communication delays.The analysis on the closed-loop systems derives the simultaneous stability and consensus criteria of networked nonlinear multiagents using the HOFA predictive coordination method.With the presented way of designing HOFA predictive coordination controllers,a simulated example demonstrates the advantages of the proposed method.

Predictive Control of High-Order Fully Actuated Nonlinear Systems with Time-Varying Delays

This paper investigates the control problem of high-order fully actuated nonlinear systems with time-varying delays in the discrete-time domain.To make the compensation for time-varying delays concise,active and universal,a novel nonlinear predictive control method is proposed.The designed nonlinear predictive controller can achieve the same expected control performance as the nonlinear systems without delays.At the same time,the necessary and sufficient conditions for the stability of the closed-loop nonlinear predictive control systems are derived.Numerical examples show that the proposed nonlinear predictive controller design method can completely compensate for the time-varying delays of nonlinear systems.

Investigating Factors Influencing the Stability of Enteral Nutritional Emulsions Designed for Cancer Patients

Objective A commercially available reference product was“re-engineered”and the target emulsion was formulated to contain the same energy density,as well as the same percentage of energy sources,as the reference product.The particle size and distribution,polydispersity index(PDI),and zeta-potential of emulsions were measured as indices to analyse the quality of the emulsions.Methods The centrifugal stability(Ke)was examined as the main measure of the stability of the target emulsion.Critical parameters affecting the stability of emulsions were also determined,while the temperature was fixed at 30℃,shear speed at 3500 r/min,and shear time was 15 min.The optimal quantity of emulsifier was also studied in the crude homogenate.Results A relatively stable emulsion could be obtained by using PC-50 at a dosage of 2%as the emulsifier.A 2∶1 proportion of whey protein to casein,a 1∶1 proportion of maltodextrin(DE 10-15)to maltodextrin(DE 15-20)and medium chain triglyceride(MCT)in powder form were used to obtain the most desirable emulsion.Conclusion This study explored the critical parameters that influence the stability of a total nutrition enteral emulsion designed for cancer patients,providing useful information for further industrialisation of this and other emulsion products.

Targeting SAMHD1: To overcome multiple anti-cancer drugs resistance in hematological malignancies

Sterile α motif and histidine/aspartic acid domain containing protein 1 (SAMHD1) is a deoxynucleoside triphosphate (dNTPs) triphosphohydrolase that can hydrolyze dNTPs into deoxynucleosides and triphosphates to keep the balance of the intracellular dNTPs pool. Moreover, it has been reported that SAMHD1 plays a role in regulating cell proliferation and the cell cycle, maintaining genome stability and inhibiting innate immune responses. SAMHD1 activity is regulated by phosphorylation, oxidation, SUMOylation, and O-GlcNAcylation. SAMHD1 mutations have been reported to cause diseases, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia and mantle cell lymphoma. SAMHD1 expression in acute myeloid leukemia predicts inferior prognosis. Recently, it has been revealed that SAMHD1 mediates the resistance to anti-cancer drugs. This review will focus on SAMHD1 function and regulation, the association between SAMHD1 and hematological malignancies and will provide updated information on SAMHD1 mediating resistance to nucleoside analogue antimetabolites, topoisomerase inhibitors, platinum-derived agents and DNA hypomethylating agents. Furthermore, histone deacetylase inhibitors and tyrosine kinase inhibitors indirectly increase anti-cancer drug resistance by increasing SAMDH1 activity. We herein highlight the importance of the development of novel agents targeting SAMHD1 to overcome treatment resistance of hematological malignancies, which would be an opportunity to improve the outcome of patients with refractory hematological malignancies.

Attitude and Orbit Optimal Control of Combined Spacecraft via a Fully-Actuated System Approach

This paper investigates the attitude and orbit control for the combined spacecraft formed after a target spacecraft without the autonomous control ability is captured by a service spacecraft.The optimal controller of fully-actuated system is proposed to realize the attitude and orbit stabilization control of combined spacecraft.The stability of the system is proved by introducing Lyapunov function.Numerical simulation of the combined spacecraft and physical experiment based on the combined spacecraft simulator(CSS)are completed.Both simulation and experiment results demonstrate the effectiveness and practicability of the optimal controller of fully-actuated system.

Physical-mechanical properties of sediments and their correlation with near seafloor seismic amplitude in the Liwan canyon area, northern South China Sea

Before the implementation of offshore oil and gas exploitation,it is essential to understand the various factors that influence the stability of submarine sediments surrounding the project.Considering the factors such as cost and operability,it is not feasible to assess the physical-mechanical properties of sediments covering the entire region by borehole sampling.In this study,the correlation between near seafloor seismic amplitude and the mean shear strength of shallow sediments was explored using seismic and core testing data from the northern continental slope area of the South China Sea.Results showed that the mean water content of sediments in the layer up to 12 m below the seafloor(mbsf)gradually increased with increasing water depth,and the mean shear strength tended to decrease rapidly near the 1000 m depth contour.The near seafloor seismic amplitude could reflect the mean shear strength of sediments in the 12 mbsf layer under seismic frequency of 65 Hz and wave velocity of 1600 m/s.When the mean shear strength was greater than 10 kPa or the water depth was less than 1000 m,there was a significant linear positive correlation between mean shear strength and near seafloor seismic amplitude.Otherwise,there was a significant linear negative correlation between mean shear strength and near seafloor seismic amplitude.On the basis of these correlations,the pattern of shear strength was estimated from near seafloor seismic amplitude and mapped.The mean shear strength of sediments above 12 mbsf gradually decreased with increasing water depth in the continental slope area,whereas little change occurred in the continental shelf and the end of the canyon.Within the canyon area,the mean shear strength of sediments was characterized by larger values in both sides of the canyon walls and smaller values in the canyon bottom,which was consistent with the infinite slope stability theory.The study provides a method for using near seafloor seismic amplitude data to guide sediment sampling design,and presents a continuous da
