Asymmetric reversible structural switching of a diene coordination polymer promoted by UV-visible light

In natural and artificial systems,reversible reactions are commonly asymmetric with respect to the time scale and nature of the stimuli which drive the forward and backward *** applications for which switching behavior is required,it is desirable that the reversible reaction goes as close to symmetric as possible;however,such systems are ***,we report an example of ultraviolet(UV)-visible light-regulated asymmetric reversible structural switching involving a diene-based coordination polymer,CP1 and its monocyclobutane product,*** is possible to cycle at least ten times through a forward [2+2] photocycloaddition reaction and the reverse,photocleavage reaction.A single cycle can be completed within a few *** transformation is accompanied by fast and distinct fluorescence changes,arising from optimisation of the reaction *** f.nctional theory calculations allow rationalisation of the asymmetric reversible transformation between CP1 and CP1a rather than between CP1 and its dicyclobutane product *** work provides a clear illustration of reversible structural switching which approaches symmetric behaviour with respect to reaction rate and *** insights gained from this work also assist in the design of fast,reversible switching materials.

Calix[n]arenes was utilized to detect PABA,the primary sunscreen *** study investigates the interaction of calix[4]arene(C4),calix[6]arene(C6),and PABA using the Langmuir method and first-principle density f.nctional theory(DfT).Using the Langmuir-Schaefer(LS)technique,an ultrathin film composed of calix[n]arenes and their complexes with PABA was deposited on various *** on the Langmuir study,the PABA molecule was bonded to the lower rims of both C4 and C6 with the host-guest ratio of 1:*** of the LS films formed were then characterized by ultravioletvisible spectroscopy(UV-Vis),fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(fTIR)and carbon,hydrogen,nitrogen,sulfur elemental analyzer(CHnS).The band gap reduction obtained in the DfT study denotes the charge transfer interaction with promising reactivity between the calix[n]arenes and *** sensing of PABA by C4 and C6 is successful based on the formation of bonding between them due to the hosts’effective trapping *** outcomes of this study could be applied to drug delivery systems for future pharmaceutical and medical applications.

Topological and superconducting properties of monolayered Con and CoP:A first-principles comparative study

Two-dimensional systems that simultaneously harbor superconductivity and nontrivial band topology may serve as appealing platforms for realizing topological superconductivity with promising applications in fault-tolerant quantum ***,based on first-principles calculations,we show that monolayered Co n and Co P with the isovalent fe Se-like structure are stable in freestanding form,even though their known bulk phases have no resemblance to *** two systems are further revealed to display intrinsic band inversions due to crystal field splitting,and such orderings are preserved with the inclusion of spin-orbit coupling(SOC),which otherwise is able to open a curved band gap,yielding a non-zero Z2 topological invariant in each *** a mechanism of topologicalization is distinctly contrasted with that identified recently for the closely related monolayers of CoX(X=As,Sb,Bi),where the SOC plays an indispensable role in causing a nontrivial band ***,we demonstrate that,by applying equi-biaxial tensile strain,the electron-phonon coupling strength in monolayered Con can be significantly enhanced,yielding a superconducting transition temperature(Tc)up to 7-12 K for the Coulomb pseudopotential ofμ*=0.2-0.1,while the CoP monolayer shows very low Tc even under pronounced *** different superconducting behaviors can be attributed to different variations in lattice softening and electronic density of states around the fermi level upon *** central f.ndings enrich the understanding of different mechanisms of band inversions and topologicalization and offer platforms for achieving the coexistence of superconductivity and nontrivial band topology based on two-dimensional systems.

Effects of synthesis parameters on the performance of crosslinked Co-polymers with clays for conformance control

Conformance control or water shut-off is a technique used to improve oil *** conformance control,polymers block high permeability water areas and redistribute water drive toward unswept oil *** this study,co-polymers(denoted ATP-PGV/AM-co-AMPS)were synthesized using acrylamide(AM)and 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropane sulf.nic acid(AMPS)as the monomers,polyethylene glycol(PEG)-200 and methylenebisacrylamide(MBA)as the crosslinkers,attapulgite(ATP)and bentonite(PGV)as the clay types,and ammonium persulfate(APS)as the initiator,in addition to paraff.n oil and *** were synthesized using inverse emulsion polymerization with different concentrations of monomers,crosslinkers,and clays,and they were characterized using fourier-transform infrared(fTIR)spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX).fTIR spectra of the samples confirmed the existence of sulf.nate and hydroxyl groups,which are important for polymer ***-EDX images indicated that the morphology and elemental composition were different before and after swelling,confirming the occurrence of ***,samples were placed in sodium chloride solution(20,000 ppm)for 7 days to evaluate swelling at both room temperature and 90°*** analysis(TGA)and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)were used to determine the thermal characteristics of the ***,rheological measurements were used to assess the deformation and rheological behavior of the *** results showed that after 1 day,good swelling without loss of mechanical strength was achieved with the composite synthesized using 10%AM,15%AMPS,6%PGV,and 10%ATP.

Preparation of maximally-entangled states with multiple cat-state qutrits in circuit QED

In recent years,cat-state encoding and high-dimensional entanglement have attracted much ***,previous works are limited to generation of entangled states of cat-state qubits(two-dimensional entanglement with cat-state encoding),while how to prepare entangled states of cat-state qutrits or qudits(high-dimensional entanglement with cat-state encoding)has not been *** here propose to generate a maximally-entangled state of multiple cat-state qutrits(three-dimensional entanglement by cat-state encoding)in circuit *** entangled state is prepared with multiple microwave cavities coupled to a superconducting flux ququart(a four-level quantum system).This proposal operates essentially by the cavity-qutrit dispersive *** circuit hardware resource is minimized because only a coupler ququart is *** higher intermediate level of the ququart is occupied only for a short time,thereby decoherence from this level is greatly suppressed during the state ***,the state preparation time does not depend on the number of the qutrits,thus it does not increase with the number of the *** an example,our numerical simulations demonstrate that,with the present circuit QED technology,the high-fidelity preparation is feasible for a maximally-entangled state of two cat-state ***,we numerically analyze the effect of the inter-cavity crosstalk on the scalability of this *** proposal is universal and can be extended to accomplish the same task with multiple microwave or optical cavities coupled to a natural or artificial four-level atom.
