An image processing method for feature extraction and dynamic tracking of particle clusters in CFBs

A new image processing method based on the high-speed camera is proposed to identify,locate,and track clusters.The instantaneous characteristic parameters of particle clusters in the riser of the circu-lating fluidized bed(CFB)can be acquired,such as solids holdup,vertical velocity,lateral displacement,aspect ratio and near-circularity.Experiments were carried out with glass bead particles,river sand particles and FCC particles.The time series of images of gas-solid flow in a CFB riser with a 100 mm x 25 mm cross-section and 3.2 m in length were obtained using high-speed cameras.The k-means++clustering algorithm is utilized to identify the clusters,centroid is applied to locate the clusters,and the cross-correlation algorithm is employed to track the specific clusters and number them to get the instantaneous characteristic parameters.The results illustrate that the shapes of clusters in the center area are closest to circle,moving upwards at a uniform speed,while the clusters in the side-wall area are mostly elongated or long chain-like,moving slowly downwards.In the transition area,the clusters are more complex,moving upwards at a constant speed,and having large lateral displacement.The results show that the image processing method used in this study is successful in acquiring the dynamic and structural parameters of the clusters simultaneously.

The acoustic propagation characteristics of axisymmetric waves have been widely used in leak detection of fluid-filled pipes.The related acoustic methods and equipment are gradually coming to the market,but their theoretical research obviously lags behind the field practice,which seriously restricts the breakthrough and innovation of this technology.Based on the fully three-dimensional effect of the surrounding medium,a coupled motion equation of axisymmetric wave of buried liquid-filled pipes is derived in detail,a contact coefficient is used to express the coupling strength between surrounding medium and pipe,then,a general equation of motion was derived which contain the pipe soil lubrication contact,pipe soil compact contact and pipe in water and air.Finally,the corresponding numerical calculation model is established and solved used numerical method.The shear effects of the surrounding medium and the shear effects at the interface between surrounding medium and pipe are discussed in detail.The output indicates that the surrounding medium is to add mass to the pipe wall,but the shear effect is to add stiffness.With the consideration of the contact strength between the pipe and the medium,the additional mass and the pipe wall will resonate at a specific frequency,resulting in a significant increase in the radiation wave to the surrounding medium.The research contents have great guiding effect on the theory of acoustic wave propagation and the engineering application of leak detection technology in the buried pipe.

Cyclobutane derivatives have been recognized as useful structural motifs in organic synthesis and drug design.With the revival of photochemistry,the enantioselective synthesis of cyclobutane derivatives using[2+2]-cycloadditions has garnered numerous attentions.On the other hand,enantioselec-tive functionalization of preformed four-membered carbocycles is emerging as an important complementary approach to access chiral cyclobutane de-rivatives with versatile structural patterns.Herein,we summarize recent advances in this field from 2012.To avoid undesired C—C bond cleavage driv-en by strain-releasing,it is crucial to choose compatible methods for enantioselective functionalization and meanwhile preserving intact four-membered ring skeleton.Guided by calculated hydrogenation enthalpies,which are used to evaluate the strain energy of indicated C—C bond,a clear picture of the developed methodologies on functionalization of four-membered carbocycles combining the strain energy and enhanced reactivity is presented.

Infectious diseases are an enormous public health burden and a growing threat to human health worldwide.Emerging or classic recurrent pathogens,or pathogens with resistant traits,challenge our ability to diagnose and control infectious diseases.Nanopore sequencing technology has the potential to enhance our ability to diagnose,interrogate,and track infectious diseases due to the unrestricted read length and system portability.This review focuses on the application of nanopore sequencing technology in the clinical diagnosis of infectious diseases and includes the following:(i)a brief introduction to nanopore sequencing technology and Oxford Nanopore Technologies(ONT)sequencing platforms;(ii)strategies for nanopore-based sequencing technologies;and(iii)applications of nanopore sequencing technology in monitoring emerging pathogenic microorganisms,molecular detection of clinically relevant drug-resistance genes,and characterization of disease-related microbial communities.Finally,we discuss the current challenges,potential opportunities,and future outlook for applying nanopore sequencing technology in the diagnosis of infectious diseases.

BACKGROUND Primary intimal sarcoma of the pulmonary artery is a rare malignant tumor originating from the pulmonary artery,which has a low incidence rate and is easily misdiagnosed as pulmonary embolism.There is no standard protocol for the treatment of primary intimal sarcoma of the pulmonary artery.CASE SUMMARY This study reports a patient with primary intimal sarcoma of the pulmonary artery who was admitted to our hospital in 2017.The clinical characteristics,diagnosis,treatment and outcome of the patient were retrospectively analyzed.The patient was a Chinese Han male aged 44 years.He had three consecutive episodes of syncope,and was thus admitted to a local hospital.Computed tomography pulmonary angiography showed multiple lesions with abnormal densities in the pulmonary trunk,left pulmonary artery,mediastinum and pericardium,which were consistent with recurrence after tumor resection.He underwent surgery,and was pathologically diagnosed with intimal sarcoma of the pulmonary artery.He relapsed 3 mo after surgery,and apatinib was administered.His condition was stable after 4 mo,with tolerable and controllable adverse reactions.He subsequently died 19 mo after surgery.CONCluSION Primary intimal sarcoma of the pulmonary artery has no specific clinical or imaging manifestations.The diagnosis of this disease depends on histopathology and immunohistochemistry,and has a poor clinical prognosis.Surgical treatment is currently a favorable option for primary intimal sarcoma of the pulmonary artery,and targeted therapy may provide new insights for the development of effective treatment methods.

Unifying logic rules and machine learning for entity enhancing

This paper proposes a notion of entity enhancing, which unifies entity resolution and conflict resolution, to identify tuples that refer to the same real-world entity and at the same time, correct semantic inconsistencies. We propose to unify rule-based and machine learning(ML) methods for entity enhancing, by embedding ML classifiers as predicates in logic rules. We model entity enhancing by extending the chase. We show that the chase warrants correctness justification and the Church-Rosser property. Moreover, we settle fundamental problems associated with entity enhancing, including the enhancing, consistency, satisfiability,and implication problems, ranging from NP-complete and coNP-complete to Π~p-complete. Taken together,these provide a new theoretical framework for unifying entity resolution and conflict resolution.

Glufosinate-ammonium herbicides are the most widely used broad-spectrum,non-selective herbicides in the world.Glufosinate-ammonium is a structural analogue of glutamate(Glu)which can irreversibly inhibit the activity of glutamine synthetase(GS)and Glu decarboxylase in plants,thereby blocking the synthesis of glutamine(Gln)from Glu and ammonia(Hoerlein,1994).This causes the plants to die because of the nitrogen metabolism disorder and subsequent intracellular accumulation of ammonia.In humans,the characteristic features of glufosinate-ammonium herbicide poisoning include gastrointestinal symptoms and neurotoxicity(Watanabe and Sano,1998).

In this paper,solutions of the Camassa-Holm equation near the soliton Q is decomposed by pseudoconformal transformation as follows:λ^(1/2)(t)u(t,λ(t)y+x(t))=Q(y)+ε(t,y),and the estimation formula with respect toε(t,y)is obtained:|ε(t,y)|≤Ca_(3)Te^(-θ)|y|+|λ^(1/2)(t)ε0|.For the CH equation,we prove that the solution of the Cauchy problem and the soliton Q is sufficiently close as y→∞,and the approximation degree of the solution and Q is the same as that of initial data and Q,besides the energy distribution ofεis consistent with the distribution of the soliton Q in H^(2).
