Tumor-associated bacteria(TAB) play a critically important role in regulating the microenvironment of a tumor, which consequently greatly deteriorates the therapeutic effects by chemo-and radiotherapy deactivation and, more considerably, leads to substantial immunosuppression. On the contrary, herein we propose a nanocatalytic tumor-immunotherapeutic modality based on the bacteria disintegration by bacteria-specific oxidative damage under magnetic hyperthermia for highly effective immune response activation-promoted tumor regression. A monodispersed and superparamagnetic nanocatalytic medicine modified by arginyl-glycyl-aspartic acid(RGD) and(3-carboxypropyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide(TPP), named as MNP-RGD-TPP herein, has been synthesized, which features selective accumulation at the TAB by the electrostatic affinity, enabling effective TAB disintegration by the nanocatalytic Fenton reaction producing abundant cytotoxic hydroxyl radicals in situ under alternating magnetic field-induced hyperthermia. More importantly, the lipopolysaccharide has been metabolically secreted from the destructed TAB as pathogen-associated molecular patterns(PAMPs) to M1-polarize tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs) and promote the maturation of dendritic cells(DCs) for innate immuno-response activation of TAMs, followed by cytotoxic T lymphocytes awakening under the PAMPs presentation by the mature DCs against tumor cells. The integrated innate and adaptive immunity activations based on this TAB-promoted nanocatalytic immunomedicine, instead of magnetic heating-induced hyperthermia or the released Fe2+/Fe3+Fenton agent, has been found to achieve excellent therapeutic efficacy in an orthotopic colorectal cancer model, demonstrating the great potential of such an integrated immunity strategy in clinical tumor immunotherapy.

The formation of humins hampers the large-scale production of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF)in biorefinery.Here,a detailed reaction network of humin formation at the initial stage of fructose-to-HMF dehydration in water is delineated by combined experimental,spectroscopic,and theoretical studies.Three bimolecular reaction pathways to build up soluble humins are demonstrated.That is,the intermolecular etherification of β-furanose at room temperature initiates the C12 path,whereas the C-C cleavage of a-furanose at 130-150℃ leads to C11 path,and that of open-chain fructose at 180℃ to C11' path.The successive intramolecular dehydrations and condensations of the as-formed bimolecular intermediates lead to three types of soluble humins.We show that the C12 path could be restrained by using HCl or AlCl_(3) catalyst,and both the C12 and C110 paths could be effectively inhibited by adding THF as a co-solvent or accelerating heating rate via microwave heating.

Skeletal muscle plays a critical role in human health.Muscle stem cells(MuSCs)serve as the major cell type contribut-ing to muscle regeneration by directly differentiating to mature muscle cells.MuSCs usually remain quiescent with occasionally self-renewal and are activated to enter cell cycle for proliferation followed by differentiation upon muscle injury or under pathological conditions.The quiescence maintenance,activation,proliferation,and differentiation of MuSCs are tightly regulated.The MuSC cell-intrinsic regulatory network and the microenvironments work coordi-nately to orchestrate the fate transition of MuSCs.The heterogeneity of MuSCs further complicates the regulation of MuSCs.This review briefly summarizes the current progress on the heterogeneity of MuSCs and the microenviron-ments,epigenetic,and transcription regulations of MuSCs.

Recent advances in next-generation sequencing technologies and improvements in bioinformatics have expanded the scope of microbiome analysis as a forensic tool.Microbiome research is concerned with the study of the compositional profile and diversity of microbial flora as well as the interactions between microbes,hosts,and the environment.It has opened up many new possibilities for forensic analysis.In this review,we discuss various applications of microbiome in forensics,including identification of individuals,geolocation inference,and post-mortem interval(PMI)estimation.

A numerical model is presented in this article to investigate the interactions between laser generated ultrasonic and the microdefects(0.01 to 0.1 mm),which are on the surface of the laser powder bed fusion additive manufactured 316L stainless steel.Firstly,the influence of the transient sound field and detection positions on Rayleigh wave signals are investigated.The interactions between the varied microdefects and the laser ultrasonic are studied.It is shown that arrival time of reflected Rayleigh(RR)waves wave is only related to the location of defects.The depth can be checked from the feature point Q,the displacement amplitude and time delay of converted transverse(RS)wave,while the width information can be evaluated from the RS wave time delay.With the aid of fitting curves,it is found to be linearly related.This simulation study provides a theoretical basis for quantitative detection of surface microdefects of additive manufactured 316L stainless steel components.

Various thermal protection materials exhibit obviously different and complicated thermal response,oxidation and ablation behavior,which are very important for the appropriate design and selection.However,the relative researches are very few currently.In this work,the thermal response,oxidation and ablation behavior of representative thermal protection materials including ultra-high temperature ceramics,C/SiC,C/C, graphite and graphite-ceramic were investigated systematically in strong heat flux,high enthalpy and low-pressure environments.Thermal response of these materials was analyzed based on experimental results and thermal energy balance that accounts for all of the heat transfer processes transporting energy into and out of the surface.Many factors were playing important roles in the thermal response including thermal conductivity,volumetric heat capacity,catalytic efficiency,emissivity and oxidation characteristics of the materials.The importance of each factor not only depends on the material characteristics such as material composition and phase content but also environment parameters including heat flux,enthalpy,pressure and testing time.The comparisons and relationships of oxidation and ablation behaviors for these materials under extreme environments were also illustrated in detail.Furthermore,thermal response and ablation behaviors of pre-oxidized material or repeated tests were also performed to evaluate the effect of pre-treatment on the performance and reusability of thermal protection materials.This work offers guiding significance for the appropriate design and selection of thermal protection materials.

运用嵌入式原子势函数对同时存在微裂纹和孔洞缺陷的单晶镁在不同拉伸速率下的塑性变形行为进行了分子动力学模拟。结果表明,材料的杨氏模量与拉伸速率关联不大,屈服应力随拉伸速率的增加而增大。拉伸速率越大,体系总能量增加越多,峰值也越高,材料屈服强度越大。不同拉伸速率下材料的塑性变形机制不同,当拉伸速率较低时,主裂纹扩展并与预设孔洞汇合,裂纹继续扩展直至材料断裂失效。当拉伸速率较高时,主裂纹裂尖变钝,模型右下方产生边缘裂纹加速材料断裂失效。塑性变形机制的主要形式包括位错形核、位错发射、原子滑移和原子相变,其中位错发射和原子滑移起主导作用。

Peridynamics(PD)is a non-localmechanics theory that overcomes the limitations of classical continuummechanics(CCM)in predicting the initiation and propagation of cracks.However,the calculation efficiency of PDmodels is generally lower than that of the traditional finite elementmethod(FEM).Structural idealization can greatly improve the calculation efficiency of PD models for complex structures.This study presents a PD shell model based on the micro-beam bond via the homogenization assumption.First,the deformations of each endpoint of themicro-beam bond are calculated through the interpolation method.Second,the micro-potential energy of the axial,torsional,and bending deformations of the bond can be established from the deformations of endpoints.Finally,the micro moduli of the shellmodel can be obtained via the equivalence principle of strain energy density(SED).In addition,a new fracture criterion based on the SED of the micro-beam bond is adopted for crack simulation.Numerical examples of crack propagation are provided,and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed PD shell model.
