Objective:To investigate the importance of immunization in preventing measles infection and to determine the most useful laboratory tests for confirmation of ***:This study included pediatric cases evaluated with a presumed diagnosis of measles between December 2022 and June 2023,at Marmara University Pendik Training and Research *** effects of vaccination status and underlying disease on the clinical course,treatments,and complications were ***:In total,117 patients were enrolled in the study with a median age of 80 months(IQR:32.5-125.0).Twelve patients with contact history were asymptomatic and had an underlying disorder,and intravenous immunoglobulin was given to them for post-exposure ***-one patients had confirmed measles *** treatment was given to three patients(a newborn,a girl with rhabdomyosarcoma,and a healthy boy)with respiratory ***-eight percent of confirmed measles cases were unvaccinated,and all hospitalized cases were unvaccinated or *** full-vaccinated children had confirmed measles *** PCR from nasopharyngeal swabs was negative in all of them,and their diagnosis was established with anti-measles IgM ***:The measles vaccine is the most effective way to protect from measles and measles-related *** measles can also occur in fully vaccinated patients,the disease is milder than in unvaccinated *** ELISA and RT-PCR tests together may be beneficial in patients with high clinical suspicion for early diagnosis.

Anaplastic Pleomorphic Xanthoastrocytoma: Morphological and Molecular Features of Three Cases

Pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA) is usually a low grade astrocytic tumor. However, some cases show significant mitotic activity (5 or more mitosis per 10 High Power Field) and/or necrosis. These tumors are described as pleomorphic xanthoastrocytomas with anaplastic features and display increased risk of recurrence. We aimed to evaluate histopathological, immunohistochemical and molecular features of PXAs with anaplastic features, by reporting three primary cases displaying recurrence. Histopathologically we observed rhabdoid-like monomorphic atypical tumoral cells with increased mitotic activity, vascular endothelial proliferation and necrosis. Immunohistochemically, astrocytic and neuronal components displayed different specific staining properties. In 2 cases p53 was immunopositive. We detected BRAF V600E mutation in 2 cases and p16 mutation in one case, by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) method. Anaplastic pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (APXA) is a rare tumor. We have presented 3 primary APXA cases displaying all characteristic histopathological features. Two of these cases were immunopositive for p53. Therefore, we think that this marker may not be so useful in differentiating APXA from glioblastoma (GBM). Two of our three cases display BRAF V600E mutation, which is compatible with the literature.

Measurement of urinary β2M （beta 2-microglobulin） is a sensitive and reliable assay for detecting tubular injury, renal toxicity, lymphomas, leukemia, or myeloma. Some chemical substrates may increase the level of β2M in-vivo. Elevated β2M level in urine is unusual because it rapidly degrades when pH is below 6. The level of β2M in the bladder can also be used as a marker to assess renal tubular maturation in neonates. β2M in the bladder could be a result of fetal megacystis, which is an abnormally enlarged bladder appearing after 10 weeks of gestation, when the fetus begins to produce urine. Identification of the pregnant women instead of the fetus is a common pre-analytical error with samples sent from the gynecology clinic to the laboratory. Here we present the case of a 24-year-old pregnant woman whose urine analysis results indicated excessively high β2M level in the urine. The present study could improve the understanding of urinary β2M analysis, laboratory errors, and the interpretation of test results.

Purpose: The aim of this investigation was to evaluate and compare the dimensional accuracy of hydrophilic polysiloxane, vinyl polysiloxane (VPS), and polyether (PE) impression materials under dry, moist and wet conditions. Methods: An acrylic master model including 6 implants was formed, and 108 impressions were made up of this acrylic model at total. In this study, the materials of hydrophilic polysiloxane impression material, 1 hydrophilic vinyl polysiloxane impression material and 1 polyether impression material were tested. Twelve impression of each material were created under dry, moist and wet respectively. Two reference distances were evaluated on each study model by using a graphics-editing program whereas for comparison of mean dimensional changes one-way analysis of variance and Student t-test were used. Results: One-way analysis of variance revealed significant differences between impression materials and conditions (P P Conclusions: All impression materials showed a statistically significant difference under dry, moist and wet conditions.

Currently, laparoscopic cholecystectomy is an undoubtfully optimal treatment of cholelithiasis. What about performing this procedure on a patient with situs inversus totalis and what are the difficulties of this operation for a right-handed surgeon? We presented a 35-year-old man with unknown situs inversus totalis who was admitted with epigastric pain and digestive problems. Ultrasonography and computed tomography of the abdomen confirmed the diagnosis of a gallstone. Besides, the liver and gallbladder were on the left side and the spleen was on the right. All systems were left-right reversal as mirror image in all diagnostic studies. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy was safely performed, despite of difficulties of situs inversus. The patient was discharged on postoperative day 1. It should be considered that existence of other anomalies may easily cause uninvited injuries. In the patients with situs inversus, laparoscopic cholecystectomy can be safely managed by an experienced surgeon through laparoscopy, and also hepatobiliary surgery.

Effect of Thermocycle Aging on Color Stability of Monolithic Zirconia

Background: The color stability of dental restorative materials is important for long-term clinical success. Objectives: The objective of this study was to examine the effect of thermocycling on the color and translucency stability of monolithic zirconia. Materials and methods: A total of 80 disc-shaped specimens (1 cm diameter) were produced from monolithic zirconia material, Katana High Translucent (Kuraray Noritake Dental, Kurashiki, Japan). The specimens were prepared in four different thicknesses: 0.5 mm, 1 mm, 1.5 mm and 2 mm. Before thermocycling, color measurements of the specimens were made by a spectrophotometer (Spectro Shade TM MICRO;MHT Optic Research AG, Milan, Italy). After the thermal aging procedure, the color measurement was repeated. Data obtained from the study were analyzed with descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, one-way ANOVA and Tukey’s tests. Results: After thermocycling, the L*, a*, b* values decreased at all thicknesses. The maximum change in the L*, a* and b* values was observed in 0.5-mm-thick specimens, while the least change was observed in 2-mm-thick specimens. The amount of color change in the specimens after thermocycling was found to be the highest in 0.5-mm-thick specimens (ΔE = 0.91 ± 0.02), and the lowest in 2-mm-thick specimens (ΔE = 0.85 ± 0.01). While a statistically significant color change (ΔE) was observed in 0.5-mm-thick specimens (p 0.05) in 1-mm, 1.5-mm, and 2-mm-thick specimens. After thermocycling, the translucency parameter (TP) values decreased at all thicknesses. The highest change in the TP values was observed in 0.5-mm-thickspecimens (1.09 ± 0.03), while the lowest change was observed in 2-mm-thickspecimens (0.40 ± 0.04). While a statistically significant change in the TP values was observed in 0.5-mm-thick specimens (p < 0.05), there was a statistically insignificant change in the TP values of 1-mm, 1.5-mm and 2-mm-thick specime
