Gold nanoparticles have been increasingly used in catalysis, biomedical imaging, biological and chemical sensing, drug delivery, etc. In this study, a straightforward method that allows one to monitor the synthesis of gold sols and their aging, before their fine characterization by sophisticated techniques and before their use is described. Indeed, the “Colloid Thin-Layer Chromatography” method allows one to check the quality of gold colloidal sols during the synthesis. It is also well adapted for monitoring the aging of the sol before the visual observation of its degradation.

During a mast-fruiting event we investigated spatial variability in fruit availability,consumption,and seed removal at two sympatric tree species,Manilkara bidentata and ***(Sapotaceae)at Nouragues Natural Reserve,French *** addressed the question of how Manilkara density and fruits at the community level might be major causes of variability in feeding assemblages between tree *** thus explored how the frugivore assemblages differed between forest patches with contrasting relative Manilkara density and fruiting *** the daytime,Alouatta seniculus was more often observed in *** crowns at petit Plateau(PP)with the greatest density of Manilkara *** the lowest fruit diversity and availability,whereas Cebus apella and Saguinus midas were more often observed in *** crowns at both Grand Plateau(GP),with a lowest density of *** and overall greater fruit supply,and ***,nearly 53%and 15%of the *** seed crop at GP and PP,respectively,and about 47%of the *** seed crop were removed,otherwise either spit out or defecated beneath trees,or dropped in ***-bodied primates concentrated fallen seeds beneath parent trees while large-bodied primate species removed and dispersed more seeds away from ***,among the latter,satiated *** wasted seeds under conspecific trees at *** in feeding assemblages,seed removal rates and fates possibly reflected interactions with extra-generic fruit species at the community level,according to feeding choice,habitat preferences and ranging patterns of primate species.

Natural pigments and colorants are widely used in the world in many industries such as textile dying,food processing or cosmetic *** the natural products of interest are various compounds belonging to carotenoids,anthocyanins,chlorophylls,melanins,betalains...The review emphasizes pigments with anthraquinoid skeleton and gives an overview on hydroxyanthraquinoids described in Nature,the first one ever *** in consumption,production and regulation of natural food grade colorants are given,in the current global *** second part focuses on the description of the chemical structures of the main anthraquinoid colouring compounds,their properties and their biosynthetic *** natural sources of such pigments are summarized,followed by discussion about toxicity and carcinogenicity observed in some *** a conclusion,current industrial applications of natural hydroxyanthraquinoids are described with two examples,carminic acid from an insect and Arpink red^(™)from a filamentous fungus.

A bezoar is an intraluminal mass formed by the accumulation of undigested material in the gastrointestinal tract. A trichobezoar is a bezoar made up of hair and is a rare cause of bowel obstruction of the proximal gastrointes-tinal tract. They are seen mostly in young women with trichotillomania and trichotillophagia and symptoms include epigastric pain, nausea, loss of appetite and bowel or gastric outlet obstruction. We herein describe a case of a trichobezoar that presented as a gastric outlet obstruction and was subsequently successfully removed via a laparotomy.
