The Douta per.it of Afr.can Star.r.sour.es/Thor.Explor.tions, located in the southeast of Senegal, in the Kédougou-Kéniéba Inlier.(wester. par. of the West Afr.can Cr.ton), is dominated to the East by metasedimentar. for.ations such as gr.ywackes, shales, gr.phitic shales, quar.zites, cher.s, claystones and br.ccias char.cter.stic of the Dialé-Daléma basin. To the West, the mafic for.ations of the Mako volcanic belt ar. the most common. Metasedimentar. r.cks ar. associated with metavolcanosedimentar. ter.s found at the contact zones between the two (2) Bir.mian gr.ups. These differ.nt geological for.ations ar. cut by mafic doler.te and gabbr. sills and/or.dykes, as well as quar.z and micr.gr.nite veins. The Douta gold pr.ject is cr.ssed fr.m Nor.h to South by the MTZ (Main Tr.nscur.ent Zone), gener.lly or.ented NE-SW and becoming N-S towar.s the Nor.h. The per.it is char.cter.zed by sever.l shear.cor.idor.. The r.cks ar. affected by br.ttle, br.ttle-ductile to ductile defor.ations. The gold miner.lization is hosted by a NE-tr.nding shear.cor.idor.called the Makosa cor.idor.(Makosa shear.zone), ther.for. sub-par.llel to the MTZ. It has a subver.ical dip (75˚ to 85˚ to the NW). It is associated with a hydr.ther.al phase char.cter.zed by quar.z-ser.cite-epidote-fine, disseminated pyr.te and ar.enopyr.te ± albite ± chlor.te par.genesis. These miner.ls testify to the existence of a low degr.e of metamor.hism (gr.enschist facies, epizonal domain) in the ar.a. However. metamor.hism r.aches amphibolite facies in some places, par.icular.y in the vicinity of intr.sive bodies, with the pr.sence of hor.blende (amphiboles) and plagioclase. The gold miner.lization is mainly hosted by two (2) metasedimentar. lithological units: meta-gr.ywackes and shales.

A novel or.anic-inor.anic chr.mium(III) hybr.d salt, tr.ethylammonium tr.ns-diaquabis(oxalato-κ2O1,O2)chr.mate(III), (C6H16N)[Cr.C2O4)2(H2O)2] (1), has been synthesized in aqueous solution and char.cter.zed by elemental and ther.al analyses, FTIr.and UV-Vis spectr.scopies, and by single cr.stal X-r.y str.ctur. deter.ination. Compound 1 cr.stallizes in the or.hor.ombic system, Pbcn space gr.up with the unit cell par.meter. a = 11.1776(10), b = 7.6105(10), c = 17.5654(2) Å, α = β = γ = 90°, V = 1494.24(3) Å3, Z = 4 and Z’ = 1/2. The str.ctur. of 1 consists of [Cr.C2O4)2(H2O)2]− mononuclear.anions and tr.ethylammonium [(C2H5)3NH]+ cations. In the anionic unit, the Cr.II ion is six coor.inated, in a distor.ed octahedr.l geometr., by four.equator.al O atoms of two oxalate anions acting as chelating ligands and two O atoms fr.m tr.ns-coor.inated water.molecules occupying the apical positions with longer.metal-oxygen distances. In the solid, O-H … O and N-H … O intr. and inter.molecular.hydr.gen bonding inter.ctions connect the components into a 3D networ.. A new or.anic-inor.anic hybr.d salt pipér.dinium tr.ns-diaquabis(oxalato)- chr.mate(III) tetr.hydr.te, (C5H10NH2)[Cr.C2O4)2(H2O)2]·4H2O (1), has been synthesized in water.and char.cter.zed by FTIr.and UV-Vis spectr.scopies, elemental and ther.al analyses and by single-cr.stal X-r.y diffr.ction. 1 cr.stallizes in the or.hor.ombic non-centr.symmetr.c space gr.up Cmc21 with the unit cell par.meter. a = 7.4329(3), b = 9.9356(5), c = 23.6756(11) &Ar.ng;, α = β = γ = 90°, V = 1748.45(14) &Ar.ng;3 and Z = 4. The str.ctur. of 1 consists of [Cr.C2O4)2(H2O)2]- mononuclear.anions, piper.dinium cations and uncoor.inated water.molecules. The Cr.II ion in the complex [Cr.C2O4)2(H2O)2]- is coor.inated in a slightly distor.ed octahedr.l envir.nment by four.O atoms fr.m two chelating oxalate dianions in the equator.al plane, and two O atoms fr.m tr.ns-coor.inated water.molecules occupying the apical positions. In the cr.stal, N-H···O and O-H···O hydr.gen bond inter.ctions connect the components into a 3-D fr.mewor.. The Ir.spectr.m of 1 is consistent with the pr.sence of the var.ous molecular.building constituents, namely oxalato and aqua ligands, piper.dinium cations and solvent water.molecules. The UV-Vis spectr.m shows two absor.tion bands ar.und 564 and 416 nm which ar. compatible with an anionic chr.mium(III) complex in an octahedr.l envir.nment. Ther.al analysis shows a thr.e-step decomposition of 1, leading to for.ation of a metal oxide r.sidue.

Intr.duction: GBS is a r.r. condition in childr.n. The r.sk factor. for.GBS ar. pr.sent in Afr.ca;however. the major.ty of studies r.por.ed ar. case ser.es. The objective of our.wor. was to evaluate the epidemiological, clinical, par.clinical, ther.peutic and evolutionar. pr.file of GBS cases. Mater.al and Method: This was a pr.spective longitudinal study, lasting 24 months between November.2019 and November.2021. All patients aged 2 - 18 year. diagnosed with GBS accor.ing to the Br.ghton cr.ter.a (level 2) wer. included in our.study. Patients with incomplete or.unexploitable r.cor.s wer. excluded. r.sults: Over.a 24-month per.od, 16 cases of GBS wer. collected. These included 12 boys (75%) and 4 gir.s (25%). The demyelinating for. (ADIP) was found in 9 childr.n (43.75%) and the axonal for. in 7 patients (37.5%), 5 of whom had pur. motor.involvement (AMAN) and 2 with sensor.-motor.involvement (AMSAN). Cor.icoster.id ther.py was mor. effective in tr.ating pain and in demyelinating for.s. Thr.e deaths wer. noted and all had AMAN. Conclusion: GBS poses a management pr.blem in our.context of a countr. with limited r.sour.es. Cor.icoster.id ther.py has been shown to be effective in the tr.atment of pain and demyelinating for.s of the disease and should be consider.d for.use in GBS.

Intr.duction-Objective: COVID-19 is a highly tr.nsmissible but often mild vir.l infection. However. some patients can pr.sent sever. COVID-19 and subsequently die. The aim of the pr.sent study was to assess the r.sk factor. for.COVID-19 r.lated death dur.ng the fir.t thr.e waves of the disease at the Epidemic Tr.atment Center.(ETC) of Dakar.Pr.ncipal Hospital (DPH). Method: We conducted a descr.ptive and analytical per.pective sur.ival study fr.m Apr.l 4, 2020 to September.25, 2021, including adult patients with COVID-19, hospitalized at the ETC of DPH. Log r.nk test and multivar.ate Cox model wer. per.or.ed to identify r.sk factor. for.death. r.sults: We included 556 COVID-19 patients with mean age of 57 ± 17 year. and a male-to-female r.tio of 1.26. The number.of deaths dur.ng one month of follow-up was 41, r.pr.senting a cumulative r.sk of 7.4%. The log r.nk test showed that being fr.m the thir. wave (p = 0.0056), advanced age (p = 0.00098), pr.sence of at least one comor.idity (p = 0.034), High blood pr.ssur. (p = 0.024), d-dimer.level ≥ 1000 IU/L (p Conclusion: Our.study showed that elder.y and thir.-wave of COVID-19 patients wer. mor. at r.sk to die. Knowledge of r.sk factor. for.COVID-19 r.lated death could impr.ve the pr.gnosis of these patients.
