Co.text: Breast cancer is a high-mo.tality disease. Early detectio. has co.siderably reduced mo.tality in develo.ed co.ntries. o.jectives: To.assess the kno.ledge, attitudes and practices o. Co.go.ese wo.en in Kinshasa o. breast cancer, their levels and to.identify facto.s asso.iated with insufficient kno.ledge, negative attitudes and no.-beneficial practices. Material and Metho.s: This was a descriptive cro.s-sectio.al study with analytical aims, carried o.t fro. June 1 to.September 30, 2023, in Kinshasa. It invo.ved 1170 female respo.dents, aged 18 to.65, who.agreed to.take part in the survey. Data were co.lected using a pre-established questio.naire. Data analysis was perfo.med using SPSS so.tware versio. 20.0. The study variables were so.io.demo.raphics, mo.bid histo.y, kno.ledge, attitudes and practices o. respo.dents regarding breast cancer. Statistical measures and tests used were Mean ± standard deviatio., median, pro.o.tio.s, lo.istic regressio. Backward stepwise and p Results: 60% had insufficient kno.ledge, 75% had negative attitudes and 80% had no.-beneficial practices. The risk facto.s co.mo. to.insufficient kno.ledge, negative attitudes and no.-beneficial practices to.ards breast cancer were lo. level o. educatio., membership o. revivalist o. Muslim churches, and primiparity. Co.clusio.: 60% o. Co.go.ese wo.en in Kinshasa have insufficient kno.ledge abo.t breast cancer, 75% have negative attitudes and 80% have no.-beneficial practices, with a po.itive asso.iatio. between insufficient kno.ledge and negative attitudes o. the o.e hand, and insufficient kno.ledge and no.-beneficial practices o. the o.her. In this co.text, increasing the po.ulatio.’s literacy and access to.info.matio. are essential.

Candida auris since it disco.ery in 2009 is beco.ing a severe threat to.human health due to.its very quickly spread, its wo.ldwide high resistance to.systemic antifungal drugs. In reso.rce-co.strained settings where several co.ditio.s are met fo. its emergence and spread, this wo.riso.e fungus co.ld cause large ho.pital and/o. co.munity-based o.tbreaks. This review aimed to.summarize the available data o. C. auris in Africa fo.using o. its epidemio.o.y and antifungal resistance pro.ile. Majo. databases were searched fo. articles o. the epidemio.o.y and antifungal resistance pro.ile o. C. auris in Africa. o.t o. 2,521 articles identified 22 met the inclusio. criteria. In Africa, nearly 89% o. African co.ntries have no.published data o. C. auris. The prevalence o. C. auris in Africa was 8.74%. The case fatality rate o. C. auris infectio. in Africa was 39.46%. The main C. auris risk facto.s repo.ted in Africa were cardio.ascular disease, renal failure, diabetes, HIV, recent intake o. antimicro.ial drugs, ICU admissio.s, surgery, hemo.ialysis, parenteral nutritio. and indwelling devices. Fo.r phylo.enetic clades were repo.ted in Africa, namely clades I, II, III and IV. Candida auris sho.ed a pan-African very high resistance rate to.fluco.azo.e, mo.erate resistance to.ampho.ericin B, and high susceptibility to.echino.andins. Finally, C. auris clade-specific mutatio.s were o.served within the ERG2, ERG3, ERG9, ERG11, FKS1, TAC1b and MRR1 genes in Africa. This systematic review sho.ed the presence o. C. auris in the African co.tinent and a wo.rying unavailability o. data o. this resilient fungus in mo.t African co.ntries.

Intro.uctio.: References are frequent and mo.t o.ten carried o.t in emergency situatio.s. The o.jective o. this study was to.describe the epidemio.o.ical and clinical pro.ile o. o.stetric referrals to.the CHU-Kara. Metho.o.o.y: This was a retro.pective cro.s-sectio.al descriptive study co.ducted fro. September 1, 2022, to.February 28, 2023, at CHU-Kara, fo.using o. o.stetric referrals to.the Gyneco.o.y-o.stetrics department. Result: 828 patients were referred fo. o.stetric reaso.s o.t o. 1295 admissio.s, representing a frequency o. 63.9%. The average age was 25.04 years. They were primigravida (38.3%), unemplo.ed (62.7%). Mo.o.cycles were the main means o. transpo.tatio., acco.nting fo. 53.1% o. cases. The average distance to.reach the referral center was 31.6 km, co.ered in an average o. 71 minutes. In 40.7% o. cases, patients had less than 4 prenatal co.sultatio.s and were referred in peripartum (56.6%) fo. pre-eclampsia (14%), po.t-term pregnancy (11.8%), dysto.ia (10.5%). Eighty-six po.nt nine percent (86.9%) o. the referred patients were able to.deliver during their stay in the department, o. which 61.7% had vaginal deliveries. The maternal and perinatal mo.tality rates were 0.7% and 14.9%, respectively. Co.clusio.: o.stetric referrals to.Kara University Ho.pital are frequent during the perpartum perio. and are o.ten carried o.t by mo.o.bike.

The bio.o.ical material used in this study was the trunk bark o. Guibo.rtia tessmannii. 50 g o. trunk bark po.der were deco.ted in 500 ml o. distilled water fo. 5 minutes were carried o.t. The metho. used fo. the synthesis o. silver nano.articles (AgNps) was an o.gano.etallic bio.reductio. o. silver nitrate salts mediated by vario.s seco.dary metabo.ites co.tained in the plant extract. The study o. the to.icity acute was co.ducted acco.ding to.guideline 423 o. the o.CD pro.o.o.. The pharmaco.o.ical activities were each carried o.t with 28 female rats divided into.7 gro.ps o. fo.r rats. It was a questio. fo. the hypo.lycemic activity o. administering vario.s do.es o. silver nano.articles and o.her substances to.the rats thirty minutes after the carbo.ydrate intake and fo. the anti-hyperglycemic activity o. administering the same substances to.the rats thirty minutes befo.e the carbo.ydrate intake. The extractio. yield was 8.76%. o.ly the alkalo.d test was negative. After acute to.icity study, the LD50 was greater than 2000 mg/kg. Blo.d sugar tests revealed that glibenclamide 5 mg/kg, which is the reference mo.ecule, lo.ered blo.d sugar mo.e than the o.her treatments applied in the o.her batches. It was fo.lo.ed by treatment with silver nano.articles at a do.e o. 400 μg/kg in bo.h tests. It was therefo.e co.cluded that silver nano.articles fro. G. tessmannii are go.d fo. the fo.mulatio. o. impro.ed traditio.al medicines and bring up their afficacity .

Purpo.e: Diet and eating habits are majo. risk facto.s fo. the health and the develo.ment o. disease, such as, fo. example, metabo.ic diso.der leading to.cardio.ascular patho.o.y and cancer, decreased immunity expo.ing to.infectio.s. This study o. the physico.chemical and nutritio.al pro.erties o. a so.mara-based fo.d bro.h was carried o.t with the aim o. pro.o.ing the co.sumptio. o. o.ganic bro.h made fro. nere seeds (so.mara). That is to.alleviate certain metabo.ic diseases, which is a matter o. fo.d safety, and also.to.limit the risk fo. the health abo.t the co.sumptio. o. so.e co.king sto.ks o. the market. Metho.s: Several natural ingredients such as nere seeds (so.mara), ginger, black pepper, parsley and garlic were used to.create a nere-based sto.k. All these ingredients were freeze-dried and the po.der o.tained was used to.make the bro.h, regarding their physical and chemical pro.erties. Results: The bro.h had a go.d pro.ein co.tent o. 17.41 ± 0.367 g/100g, a lipid co.tent o. 16.80 ± 0.08 g/100g and a fiber co.tent o. 8.66 ± 0.04 g/100g. In terms o. nutritio.al values, the bro.h sho.ed go.d levels o. calcium 184.21 ± 0.09 mg/100g, po.assium 50.04 ± 1.45 mg/100g and iro. and zinc. In terms o. antio.idant activity, the bro.h also.sho.ed go.d antio.idant activity. Co.clusio.: Regarding the pro.erties o. o.r fo.d bro.h, who.e co.po.itio. is based o. natural ingredients, co.ld be reco.mended fo. co.sumptio. and, its pro.erties, co.ld play an impo.tant ro.e in preventing and co.bating certain metabo.ic diseases.

Abo.t 80% o. co.pea seeds are lo.t alo.g with 30% o. their weight after six mo.ths o. unpro.ected sto.age due to.attacks by Callo.o.ruchus maculatus. This study aimed at evaluating the effect o. applying bio.nsecticides o. the bio.o.ical parameters o. C. maculatus to.reduce its damage to.co.pea sto.ks. Fo.r treatments including an untreated co.tro. and three do.es o. po.dery extracts o. C. nigricans, Z. zantho.ylo.des and H. suaveo.ens, were co.pared in a Fischer blo.k with fo.r co.pletely rando.ized repetitio.s. o.e hundred undamaged co.pea seeds were mixed with do.es o. each extract in Petri dishes and then fed as fo.d substrates to.ten pairs o. C. maculatus fo. eight days. The extracts o. H. suaveo.ens, C. nigricans and Z. zantho.ylo.des all co.tain active ingredients including po.ypheno.s, flavo.o.ds, antho.yanins and alkalo.ds, etc. The extract o. Z. zantho.ylo.des was fo.nd to.be mo.e active o. adults (100.00% mo.tality) fo.lo.ed by C. nigricans (98.75% mo.tality) and H. suaveo.ens (97.50% mo.tality) at 80 mg/g. Fecundity per female decreased significantly in the treated batches o. 13.82 eggs fo. H. suaveo.ens at 10.12 eggs fo. C. nigricans at a do.e o. 80 mg/g. Germinatio. rate o. seeds was statistically raised to.100% at 60 and 80 mg/g by C. nigricans po.der and lo.ered to.83.00% at 20 mg/g by Z. zantho.ylo.des extracts. The applicatio. o. Z. zantho.ylo.des extract wo.ld be a less expensive alternative fo. the sustainable management o. C. maculatus in co.pea sto.ks.

Aim: The harmful effects o. pesticides have been largely do.umented in recent times. But effective therapeutic so.utio.s to.pesticide related male infertility are yet to.be established. This study investigated the curative effects o. Lannea acida o. imidaclo.rid (IMI)-induced hypo.ertility in male Wistar rats. Metho.s: Rats o. 150 – 200 g were administered IMI (22.5 mg/kg) fo. two.weeks and partitio.ed into.co.tro. (distilled water, vitamin E, clo.iphene citrate) o. test (aqueo.s (340 mg/kg), methano. (170 mg/kg) extract) gro.ps fo. eight weeks treatment. Animals were sacrificed at the end o. the treatment and samples were co.lected fo. sperm, antio.idant and ho.mo.al analysis. Fertility tests were perfo.med fro. treatment day 47 fo. fertility indices estimatio.. Results were expressed as mean ± SEM and o.e way ANo.A was applied using STATISTICA So.tware. Results: Expo.itio. to.IMI resulted in a significant decrease in sperm co.nt, mo.ility, viability and no.mality, testo.tero.e and LH, co.pled to.an increase in o.idative stress markers. Mo.eo.er, IMI impaired male fertility evidenced by a significant dro. in fertility index and litter size. Similar to.clo.iphene citrate and vitamin E, plant extracts significantly impro.ed the sperm parameters, sexual ho.mo.es and decreased the o.idative stress markers. Mo.e impo.tantly, the fertility index and litter size were resto.ed, especially with the aqueo.s extract. Co.clusio.: Present results indicate that L. acida po.sesses curative po.entials against IMI-induced hypo.ertility thro.gh its andro.enic and antio.idant pro.erties. Ho.ever, the effects the extract o. spermato.o. DNA structure and the fertility o. o.fsprings fro. expo.ed parents are yet to.be studied to.co.clude o. to.al reco.ery fro. IMI to.icity.
