We detail some of the understudied aspects of the flow inside and around the Hexactinellid Sponge Euplectella *** leveraging the flexibility of the Lattice Boltzmann Method,High Performance Computing simulations are performed to dissect the complex conditions corresponding to the actual environment at the bottom of the ocean,at depths between 100 and 1,000 *** large-scale simulations unveil potential clues on the evolutionary adaptations of these deep-sea sponges in response to the surrounding fluid flow,and they open the path to future investigations at the interface between physics,engineering and biology.

Objective: To evaluate transperineal laser ablation (TPLA) with Echolaser® (Echolaser® TPLA, Elesta S.p.A., Calenzano, Italy) as a treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer (PCa) using the Delphi consensus ***: Italian and international experts on BPH and PCa participated in a collaborative consensus project. During two rounds, they expressed their opinions on Echolaser® TPLA for the treatment of BPH and PCa answering online questionnaires on indications, methodology, and potential complications of this technology. Level of agreement or disagreement to reach consensus was set at 75%. If the consensus was not achieved, questions were modified after each round. A final round was performed during an online meeting, in which results were discussed and ***: Thirty-two out of forty invited experts participated and consensus was reached on all topics. Agreement was achieved on recommending Echolaser® TPLA as a treatment of BPH in patients with ample range of prostate volume, from 80 mL (80%), comorbidities (100%), antiplatelet or anticoagulant treatment (96%), indwelling catheter (77%), and strong will of preserving ejaculatory function (100%). Majority of respondents agreed that Echolaser® TPLA is a potential option for the treatment of localized PCa (78%) and recommended it for low-risk PCa (90%). During the final round, experts concluded that it can be used for intermediate-risk PCa and it should be proposed as an effective alternative to radical prostatectomy for patients with strong will of avoiding urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction. Almost all participants agreed that the transperineal approach of this organ-sparing technique is safer than transrectal and transurethral approaches typical of other techniques (97% of agreement among experts). Accurate regional wind power prediction plays an important role in the security and reliability of power *** the performance improvement of very short-term prediction intervals(PIs),a novel probabilistic prediction method based on composite conditional nonlinear quantile regression(CCNQR)is ***,the hierarchical clustering method based on weighted multivariate time series motifs(WMTSM)is studied to consider the static difference,dynamic difference,and meteorological difference of wind power time ***,the correlations are used as sample weights for the conditional linear programming(CLP)of *** optimize the performance of PIs,a composite evaluation including the accuracy of PI coverage probability(PICP),the average width(AW),and the offsets of points outside PIs(OPOPI)is used to quantify the appropriate upper and lower ***,the adaptive boundary quantiles(ABQs)are quantified for the optimal performance of ***,based on the real wind farm data,the superiority of the proposed method is verified by adequate comparisons with the conventional methods.

The monitoring of trees is crucial for the management of large areas of forest cultivations,but this process may be ***,remotely sensed data offers a solution to automate this *** this work,we used two neural network methods named You Only Look Once(YOLO)and Mask R-CNN to overcome the challenging tasks of counting,detecting,and segmenting high dimensional Red–Green–Blue(RGB)images taken from unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs).We present a processing framework,which is suitable to generate accurate predictions for the aforementioned tasks using a reasonable amount of labeled *** compared our method using forest stands of different ages and *** counting,YOLO overestimates 8.5%of the detected trees on average,whereas Mask R-CNN overestimates a 4.7%of the *** the detection task,YOLO obtains a precision of 0.72 and a recall of 0.68 on average,while Mask R-CNN obtains a precision of 0.82 and a recall of *** segmentation,YOLO overestimates a 13.5%of the predicted area on average,whereas Mask R-CNN overestimates a 9.2%.The proposed methods present a cost-effective solution for forest monitoring using RGB images and have been successfully used to monitor∼146,500 acres of pine cultivations.

Climate change is threatening natural ecosystems in the Earth, and arid regions of southern Africa are particularly exposed to further drying. Welwitschia mirabilis Hook. （Welwitschiaceae） is an unusual gymnosperm tree that is recognized as an icon of the Namib Desert, southern Africa. Many aspects of its biology were investigated in the past, with a special emphasis for its physiology and adaptations, but nothing is known about its potential sensitivity to current climate changes. In this study, we adopted an approach based on distribution data for W. mirabilis and ecological niche models for clarifying the species-climate interactions and for predicting the potential impacts of climate change on W. mirabilis populations in three well-separated sub-ranges （northern, southern and central） in northwestern Namibia, southern Africa. We evidenced that the populations occurring in the northern sub-range have peculiar climatic exigencies compared with those in the central and southern sub-ranges and are particularly exposed to the impact of climate change, which will consist of a substantial increase in temperature across the region. These impacts could be represented by demographic changes that should be detected and monitored detailedly to plan efficient measures for managing populations of this important species on the long-term scale.

Regional photovoltaic(PV) power prediction plays an important role in power system planning and operation. To effectively improve the performance of prediction intervals(PIs) for very short-term regional PV outputs, an efficient nonparametric probabilistic prediction method based on granulebased clustering(GC) and direct optimization programming(DOP) is proposed. First, GC is proposed to formulate and cluster the sample granules consisting of numerical weather prediction(NWP) and historical regional output data, for the enhanced hierarchical clustering performance. Then, to improve the accuracy of samples' utilization, an unbalanced extension is used to reconstruct the training samples consisting of power time series. After that, DOP is applied to quantify the output weights based on the optimal overall performance. Meanwhile, a balance coefficient is studied for the enhanced reliability of PIs. Finally, the proposed method is validated through multistep PIs based on the numerical comparison of real PV generation data.
