To provide flexibility for the operation of smart electricity networks,a large number of scattered demand response resources are managed by a demand response aggregator(DRA).Increasing the economic viability of this new entity,i.e.,DRA,has attracted a great deal of attention in recent *** this direction,this paper proposes stochastic model of multiple large-scale energy storage system(LESS)investments from the perspective of a DRA.A LESS directly connects to smart distribution networks and provides the possibility to save energy costs and thereafter increase the energy efficiency of the *** this paper,a novel mixed-integer model is proposed to determine the optimal capacity and operation of a LESS in coordination with a DR *** model,as a main contribution to literature,comprises novel managerial options,such as the number of allowed DR actions,the number of allowed charging and ***,the model is designed to be capable enough to exclude the hours in which the demand side is not allowed to participate in *** proposed model is tested through a numerical example with various case *** simulation results show the substantial economic impacts of considering the introduced managerial options in the coordination of a LESS operation with DR.

Demand response creates an opportunity for consumers to play an important role in the development of smart *** the advent of renewable energies and their uncertainties,demand response provides a possible solution to resolve these *** addition to demand response schemes in the presence of renewable energy,the personality types of consumers can influence the choice of tariffs and change their electricity *** this paper,first,household residents with different types of personalities are considered as energy ***,the uncertainty of renewable energy sources is considered for the distributed generations scheduling by using a stochastic method called the Here-and-Now approach and considering three tariffs,time of use,real-time pricing,and direct load control in the residential sector to reduce total ***,the tariff choice is compared based on people preferences via various personality types,the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test,and simulations ***,a probabilistic unit commitment methodology is used for distributed generations scheduling to minimize the total *** financial losses caused by non-optimal tariffs selection are determined through the comparison of *** results show that time of use and direct load control tariffs are optimal ones in summer and winter seasons,respectively.

Hydrogen is being considered as an important option to contribute to energy system ***,currently its production from renewables is expensive compared with the methods that utilize fossil *** paper proposes a comprehensive optimization-based techno-economic assessment of a hybrid renewable electricity-hydrogen virtual power plant(VPP)that boosts its business case by co-optimizing across multiple markets and contractual services to maximize its profits and eventually deliver hydrogen at a lower net ***,multiple possible investment options are *** studies of VPP placement in a renewable-rich,congested area of the Australian network and based on real market data and relevant sensitivities show that multi-market participation can significantly boost the business case for cleaner *** highlights the importance of value stacking for driving down the cost of cleaner *** to the participation in multiple markets,all VPP configurations considered are found to be economically viable for a hydrogen price of 3 AUD$/kg(2.25 USD$/kg),which has been identified as a threshold value for Australia to export hydrogen at a competitive ***,if the high price volatility that has been seen in gas prices in 2022(and by extension electricity prices)continues,the flexibility of hybrid VPPs will further improve their business cases.

In this study,a novel approach based on the U-Net deep neural network for image segmentation is leveraged for real-time extraction of tracklets from optical *** in all machine learning(ML)applications,a series of steps is required for a working pipeline:dataset creation,preprocessing,training,testing,and post-processing to refine the trained network *** websites usually lack ready-to-use datasets;thus,an in-house application artificially generates 360 labeled ***,this software tool produces synthetic night-sky shots of transiting objects over a specified location and the corresponding labels:dual-tone pictures with black backgrounds and white ***,both images and labels are downscaled in resolution and normalized to accelerate the training *** assess the network performance,a set of both synthetic and real images was *** the preprocessing phase,real images were fine-tuned for vignette reduction and background brightness ***,they are down-converted to eight *** the network outputs labels,post-processing identifies the centroid right ascension and declination of the *** average processing time per real image is less than 1.2 s;bright tracklets are easily detected with a mean centroid angular error of 0.25 deg in 75%of test cases with a 2 deg field-of-view *** results prove that an ML-based method can be considered a valid choice when dealing with trail reconstruction,leading to acceptable accuracy for a fast image processing pipeline.

The form of a building is among the most critical design aspects concerning building energy ***-based passive design strategies,like solar control,can significantly reduce heating and cooling demands if implemented early in the design *** this sense,there is an evident need for tools that can adequately support designers in their *** paper aims to illustrate how geometry-based graphical methods(GGM)can provide effective support in the conceptual design *** paper introduces a novel digital framework for designing and analysing shading devices that leverages geometrical models and graphical *** digital implementation of GGM allows extending their applicability to threedimensional and non-planar geometries.A comprehensive review of existing methods and tools for the design of shading devices lays the ground for the proposed digital framework,which is then demonstrated through two case *** results show that the diagrammatic nature of GGM facilitates a better and more direct understanding of the relationship between form and performance.
