Background.Ad.nosine triphosphatase inhibitory factor 1(IF1)is a key protein involved.in energy ***1 has been linked.to various agerelated.d.seases,although its relationship with physical activity(PA)remains ***,the apolipoprotein A-I(apoA-I),a PA-mod.lated.lipoprotein,could.play a role in this relationship because it shares a bind.ng site with IF1 on the cell-surface ATP *** examined.here the associations between chronic PA and.plasma IF1 concentrations among old.r ad.lts,and.we investigated.whether apoA-I med.ated.these ***:In the present work,1096 healthy ad.lts(63.8%females)aged.70 years and.over who were involved.in the Multid.main Alzheimer Prevention Trial stud. were ***1 plasma concentrations(square root of ng/mL)were measured.at the 1-year visit of the Multid.main Alzheimer Prevention Trial,while PA levels(square root of metabolic equivalent task min/week)were assessed.using questionnaires ad.inistered.each year from baseline to the 3-year *** linear regressions were performed.to investigate the associations between the first-year mean PA levels and.IF1 *** analyses were cond.cted.to examine whether apoA-I med.ated.these *** linear regressions were carried.out to investigate whether the 1-year visit IF1 concentrations pred.cted.subsequent changes in ***:Multiple linear regressions ind.cated.that first-year mean PA levels were positively associated.with IF1 concentrations(B=0.021;SE=0.010;p=0.043).Med.ation analyses revealed.that about 37.7%of this relationship was med.ated.by apoA-I(B_(ab)=0.008;SE=0.004;p=0.023).Longitud.nal investigations d.monstrated.that higher concentrations of IF1 at the 1-year visit pred.cted.a faster d.cline in PA levels over the subsequent 2 years(time×IF1:B=0.148;SE=0.066;p=0.025).Conclusion:This stud. d.monstrates that regular PA is associated.with plasma IF1 concentrations,and.it suggests that apoA-I partly med

Use of legume trees can improve soil quality in d.grad.d.pastures. The aim of this stud. was to charac- terize C and.N mineralization kinetics and.estimate the potentially mineralizable C and.N in soil und.r Mimosa caesalpiniifolia Benth. and.Acacia auriculiformis A. Cunn. ex Benth. second.ry forest and.pasture in red.yellow latosols in southeast Brazil. We cond.cted.a laboratory aerobic incubation experiment using a completely ran- d.mized.d.sign of four replicates and.four types of plant cover using a mod.fied.version of the Stanford.and.Smith technique （1972） to stud. C and.N mineralization potential. Potentially mineralizable N （No） ranged.from 135 to 170 mg kg-1. The pred.minant form of mineral N for all types of plant cover was N-NO3-. M. caesalpiniifolia was the only species that had.a positive influence on N min- eralization. Neither of the legumes influenced.C mineral- ization in pasture or second.ry forest. The mod.l of N mineralization correspond.d.to a sigmoid.l curve while C mineralization correspond.d.to an exponential curve, revealing that the N and.C mineralization processes were d.stinct. N mineralized.by M. caesalpiniifolia （216 kg ofN ha-1） was ad.quate to meet the N requirement for a livestock-forest system.

AIM: To analyze outcomes of d.layed.single-stage necrosectomy after early conservative management of patients with infected.pancreatic necrosis (IPN) associated.with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). METHOd.: Between January 1998 and.d.cember 2009, d.ta from patients with SAP who d.veloped.IPN and.were managed.by pancreatic necrosectomy were analyzed. RESULTS: Fifty-nine of 61 pancreatic necrosectomies were performed.by open surgery and.2 laparoscopically. In 55 patients, single-stage necrosectomy could.be performed.(90.2%). Patients und.rwent surgery at a med.an of 29 d.(range 13-46 d. after d.agnosis of acute pancreatitis. Sepsis and.multiple organ failure accounted.for the 9.8% mortality rate. Pancreatic fistulae (50.8%) pred.minantly accounted.for the morbid.ty. The med.an hospital stay was 23 d. and.the med.an interval for return to regular activities was 110 ***: This series supports the concept of d.layed.single-stage open pancreatic necrosectomy for IPN. Ad.ances in critical care, antibiotics and.interventional rad.ology have played.complementary role in improving the outcomes.
