Kaapvaal lamproites(aka orangeites)are a group of volatile-rich(h_(2)O,CO_(2)),micaceous,ultrapotassic igneous rocks that are unique to the Kaapvaal craton in southern ***,the composition of the melts that give rise to these rocks remains poorly understood due to overprinting effects of contamination by mantle and crustal material,volatile exsolution,fractional crystallisation and post-magmatic ***,this lack of reliable data on the initial composition of the Kaapvaal lamproite melts hampers our understanding of their source,petrogenesis and ascent *** is a common mineral comprising the Kaapvaal lamproites that has both xenocrystic(i.e.,mantle)and magmatic *** inclusions(melt/fluid)entrapped within olivine have been consistently demonstrated as an effective tool for gaining fundamental insights into the composition and evolution of melts that produce both kimberlites and lamproites,prior to processes,such as eruption,devolatization and syn-/post-magmatic *** this study,multiphase inclusions of both secondary and pseudosecondary origin hosted in olivine from a Kaapvaal lamproite(silvery home,south Africa)provide novel insights into the composition of the melt(s)that initially transported olivine to the surface and then crystallised after emplacement to form the lamproite *** inclusions in our study contain daughter mineral assemblages consisting of diverse Ca-Mg carbonates,including K-,Na-,Ba-,and sr-bearing varieties,moderate K-rich silicates(phlogopite,tetraferriphlogopite),and subordinate oxides,phosphates,sulphides,sulphates,and *** on these daughter mineral assemblages,we suggest that the composition of the melt entrapped by olivine was siO_(2)-poor,Ca-Mg carbonate-rich and contained elevated concentrations of K,Na,Ba,sr,P and *** mineral and reconstructed melt compositions are in stark contrast to the mineral association of the groundmass and the bulk-rock composition

Background:severe trauma is associated with systemic inflammation and organ *** rodent trauma models are the mainstay of postinjury research but have been criticized for not fully replicating severe human *** aim of this study was to create a rat model of multicompartmental injury which recreates profound traumatic ***:Male sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to unilateral lung contusion and hemorrhagic shock(LChs),multicompartmental polytrauma(PT)(unilateral lung contusion,hemorrhagic shock,cecectomy,bifemoral pseudofracture),or na?ve ***,plasma toll-l ike receptor 4(TLR4),hemoglobin,spleen to body weight ratio,bone marrow(BM)erythroid progenitor(CFU-GEMM,BFU-E,and CFU-E)growth,plasma granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CsF)and right lung histologic injury were assessed on day 7,with significance defined as p valuessults:Polytrauma resulted in markedly more profound inhibition of weight gain compared to LChs(p=0.0002)along with elevated plasma TLR4(phemoglobin(pspleen to body weight ratios(p=0.004).Both LChs and PT demonstrated suppression of CFU-E and BFU-E growth compared to naive(psma G-CsF was elevated in PT compared to both na?ve and LChs(phs and PT demonstrated significant histologic right lung injury with poor alveolar wall integrity and interstitial ***:Multicompartmental injury as described here establishes a reproducible model of multicompartmental injury with worsened anemia,splenic tissue enlargement,weight loss,and increased inflammatory activity compared to a less severe *** may serve as a more effective model to recreate profound traumatic injury to replicate the human inflammatory response postinjury.

BACKGROUND Type 2 diabetes is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases worldwide,significantly impacting patients'quality of *** treatment options like metformin(MET)effectively counteract hyperglycemia but fail to alleviate diabetes-associated complications such as retinopathy,neuropathy,nephropathy,hepatopathy,and cardiovascular *** To propose the supplementation of cholecalciferol(ChO)and taurine(TAU)to enhance MET efficacy in controlling diabetes while minimizing the risk of associated *** The study involved sixty rats,including ten non-diabetic control rats and fifty experimental rats with type 2 diabetes induced by *** experimental rats were further subdivided into positive control and treatment *** four treatment groups were randomly allocated to a single MET treatment or MET combined with supplements either ChO,TAU,or *** Diabetic rats exhibited elevated levels of glucose,insulin,homeostasis Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance(hOMA-IR),glycated hemoglobin percentage,lipid markers,aspartate aminotransferase,and malondialdehyde,along with reduced levels of antioxidant enzymes(catalase and superoxide dismutase).The administration of ChO and TAU supplements alongside MET in diabetic rats led to a noticeable recovery of islet *** antioxidative,anti-inflammatory,and anti-apoptotic properties of the proposed combination therapy significantly ameliorated the aforementioned *** The supplementation of ChO and TAU with MET showed the potential to significantly improve metabolic parameters and protect against diabetic complications through its antioxidative,anti-inflammatory,and antiapoptotic effects.

holographic dark energy in non-conserved gravity theory

Recently, reconsidering the Rastall idea T_(μ;νν)^(v)=α_(,μ) through relativistic thermodynamics gives a new form for the scalar field α which led us to construct modern modified theory of gravity debugged ‘non-conserved gravity theory’ Fazlollahi 2023 Euro. Phys. J. C 83 923. This theory unlike other modified theories of gravity cannot directly explain the current acceleration expansion in the absence of the cosmological constant and or existence of other forms of dark energy. hence, in this study we have reinvestigated holographic dark energy Ρ_(X)~h^(2) in the non-conserved theory of gravity. In this context, the density and pressure of dark energy depend on the non-conserved term and density of the dust matter field. As shown, due to non-conservation effects on large-scale structures, unlike the original holographic model, our model onsets an acceleration epoch for the current Universe satisfies observations. Moreover, the interaction and viscous scenarios are studied for this model.

Novel synthesis of stabilized Bi_(1-x-y)Gd_(x)Dy_(y)O_(1.5) solid electrolytes with enhanced conductivity for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells(sOFCs)

herein,we report the synthesis of a Dy-Gd co-doped cubic phase-stabilized Bi_(2)O_(3) solid electrolyte system via solid-state processing under atmospheric *** with Dy^(3+) and Gd^(3+) has been observed to significantly enhance the densification process during sintering for stabilization purposes,thereby improving the electrical properties of δ-Bi_(2)O_(3)-type *** synthesized ceramics were characterized using X-ray diffraction(XRD),field emission scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(FEsEM-EDX),thermal gravimetry/differential thermal analysis(TG/DTA),and the four-point probe technique(4PPT).XRD analysis reveals that the samples Bi_(1-x-y)Gd_(x)Dy_(y)O_(1.5)(y=0.05/x=0.05,0.10,0,15,and 0.20,and x=0.05/y=0.10,0.15,and 0.20) exhibit a stable face-centered cubic δ-phase and a mixed-phase crystallographic *** XRD analysis of the stabilized δ-phase suggests that the prepared oxides show a face-centered cubic(FCC) structure with a space group of *** micrographs reveal that the composition Bi_(0.90)Gd_(0.05)Dy_(0.05)O_(1.5) has no significant ***,an evident increase in the pore formation is observed as the amount of Gd_(2)O_(3) increases until it reaches 20%.This finding suggests that dense pellets are formed during the sintering process at 900-1000℃.The DTA analyses were performed to verify the phase stability,which agrees with the XRD *** electrochemical performance of the synthesized Dy-Gd co-doped Bi_(2)O_(3)solid electrolyte system was evaluated and analyzed in detail by using the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIs) technique,Based on EIs and conductivity measurements,Bi_(0.75)Gd_(0.20)Dy_(0.05)O_(1.5) exhibits the lowest activation energy of 0.519 eV and the highest conductivity value of 0.398 s/cm at 627℃compared to the other samples;this composition can be used as a solid electrolyte for intermediatetemperature solid oxide fuel cells(sOFCs).

Five perovskite ceramics samples of Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)snO_(3) with x=0.00,0.05,0.10,0.15,and 0.20 were synthesized using the conventional solid-state reaction *** prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transforms infrared(FTIR),and UV-Vis *** shielding properties against ionizing radiation were also *** XRD analysis shows the perovskite cubic structure as the major phase in all *** FTIR reveals a distinctive band around 614-620 cm^(-1) ascribed to the antisymmetric O-sn-O ***-Vis spectroscopy was used to determine the bandgap according to diffuse reflectance,and the results display a fixed enhancement in the bandgap from 3.2 to 3.3 eV for all ***-ray shielding properties of the synthesized samples were experimentally measured and compared with XCOM computational *** relative differences(Δ,%)between experimental and theo retical values are low and fall within the 0.446%-7.10%*** addition of Er leads to the enhanced density,neutron,and gamma shielding *** contrast,charged particles’shielding parameters gradually reduce with rising Er *** results suggest that Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)snO_(3) samples can be used in different radiation shielding applications.

Food hygiene and safety Practices amongst Food Vendors in the Western Area, sierra Leone

Food safety and hygiene practices require a multisectoral approach including food, water, sanitation, waste management, transport, education, trade, policies and programs that enable safe food preparation, storage and service. Unsafe food can cause illness keeping people from achieving their full potential and death. This was a descriptive study that uses a mixed method approach to derive insights into the characteristics of food vendors related to demography, knowledge, practices, infrastructure, compliance and recommendation for a policymaking framework. Using the Lemeshows’ sample size formula, 473 vendors from formal (restaurants) and informal (cookri-baffa/table top) sites were interviewed and observed. We found from discussions that respondents had a good understanding on how to keep food safe. however, observed practices were poor 93% handled food with their bare hands, 83% did not cover their hair, and 76% did not wear an apron whilst handling, preparing or serving food, 61% did not keep their finger nails clean or short and 57% did not wash their hand before preparing or serving food. Over half (51%) had access to a toilet but 32% reported their use required payment and emphasized their poor condition/inadequate management. Nearly half (47%) of the vending sites did not have a handwashing facility, with soap and water available. Only 7% reported having any authority oversight of food safety. Food safety and hygiene practices in most cookri shops and restaurants was ‘poor’ with very limited surveillance system in place by competent authorities for compliance of food operators. hand washing, clean surroundings, and covered food were the most common and emphasized practices to mitigate the risks associated with unsafe food.

The Effect of Water and salt stress on Paspalum dilatatum,a Constituent of Pampas Natural Grasslands

The effects of the salt stress on plant growth are usually increased by the water *** studied the impact of both stresses in simultaneous pulses of drought and salinity on Paspalum *** forage species is native to south America,spread in grasslands in many tropical,subtropical,and temperate areas of the world,and very common in grasslands of the Flooding Pampas of *** what happens in *** compared a pot experiment,a non-stressed control against water stress for a month(midpoint between field capacity and wilting point),and two saline stresses(moderate,6 d·sm^(−1)and strong,12 d·sm^(−1)),also for a *** biomass(green leaf;non-leaf green material,and dry material)and roots were harvested,weighed,and analyzed for nitrogen,phosphorus,and *** biomass of all components significantly decreased when both stresses were *** plus strong saline stress reduced by half the total biomasses,compared to the *** proportion of aerial biomass/root biomass ratio as well as aerial green component/dry materials ratio tend to decrease when subjected to both *** concentration in plants was not significantly affected,but phosphorus concentration increased in aerial biomass components,from 0.10 to 0.18 mg·kg^(−1)between the extreme treatments,but did not change in *** concentration in plants increased(i.e.,in green leave sodium(Na)increased from 0.27 to 2.01 mg·kg^(−1)between the extreme treatments),whereas other cations either did not change or decreased,affecting the ratios between *** performance allows us to infer that the Na accumulation of *** behaves in an intermediate range,compared to very tolerant to salts or non-salt tolerant species of the Paspalum *** agreement,when salts were applied in the form of a pulse,*** tolerated higher salinity than that found by other authors for the same species,using continuous salinity.
