Voltage Unbalance Mitigation in Low Voltage Distribution Networks with Photovoltaic Systems

This paper proposes a technique to mitigate the voltage unbalance issue caused by the high penetration of photovoltaic （PV） systems into the low voltage distribution networks （LVDN） using a single phase energy storage system （ESS）. The ESS comprises a hi-directional power flow inverter and a battery bank. The system is capable of absorbing the excess power and delivering power to the network in order to keep the voltage unbalance factor （VUF） below the statutory limit of 1%. Investigations are carried out in the experimental small-scale energy zone （SSEZ）. The experimental results demonstrate that the ESS is capable of mitigating the VUF of the network.

AIM: To explore the association between methylation in leukocyte DNA and colorectal cancer (CRC) risk in male smokers using the α-tocopherol, β-carotene cancer prevention study. METHODS: About 221 incident CRC cases, and 219controls, frequency-matched on age and smoking intensity were included. DNA methylation of 1505 CpG sites selected from 807 genes were evaluated using Il-lumina GoldenGate Methylation Cancer Panel I in prediagnostic blood leukocytes of study subjects. Tertiles of methylation level classified according to the distribution in controls for each CpG site were used to analyze the association between methylation level and CRC risk with logistic regression. The time between blood draw to cancer diagnosis (classifying cases according to latency) was incorporated in further analyses using proportional odds regression. RESULTS: We found that methylation changes of 31 CpG sites were associated with CRC risk at P<0.01 level. Though none of these 31 sites remained statistically significant after Bonferroni correction, the most statistically significant CpG site associated with CRC risk achieved a Pvalue of 1.0×10-4 . The CpG site is located in DSP gene, and the risk estimate was 1.52 (95% CI: 0.91-2.53) and 2.62 (95% CI: 1.65-4.17) for the second and third tertile comparing with the lowest tertile respectively. Taking the latency information into account strengthened some associations, suggesting that the methylation levels of corresponding sites might change over time with tumor progression. CONCLUSION: The results suggest that the methylation level of some genes were associated with cancer susceptibility and some were related to tumor development over time. Further studies are warranted to confirm and refine our results.

目的通过前瞻性的研究设计,探讨血清B族维生素水平与食管癌和胃贲门癌发病风险的关系。方法采用病例-队列研究设计,从中国林县营养干预试验一般人群队列中纳入研究对象。1985年3月至1991年5月,共有29584名40-69岁的健康成年人进入队列。经过5.25年的随访,从新诊断的病例中随机抽取498例食管癌病例和255例胃贲门癌病例组成各自病例组。经年龄与性别匹配,从全部队列人群中随机抽取947例研究对象组成亚队列组。对所有最终纳入的研究对象在进入队列时采集的血清进行B族维生素的检测,包括维生素B2（核黄素）、黄素单核苷酸（维生素B2的一种辅酶）、维生素B6、叶酸和维生素B12。利用多因素Cox比例风险模型估计血清B族维生素水平与食管癌和胃贲门癌发病风险的关系。结果与血清维生素B2最低组（＜9.9 nmol/L）相比,最高组（≥18.3nmol/L）食管癌发病风险低44%（HR:0.56,95%CI:0.41-0.75）。黄素单核苷酸增加食管癌（HR:1.08,95%CI:1.01-1.16）和胃贲门癌（HR:1.09,95%CI:1.00-1.20）的发病风险。结论多种B族维生素血清浓度与食管癌和胃贲门癌发病风险相关。其中,血清维生素B2浓度高对食管癌发病具有保护作用。

目的研究饮食成分与总死亡率,癌症死亡率及心血管死亡率之间的关系。方法本研究在林县营养干预试验队列人群中前瞻性的研究了营养成分摄入与总死亡率,总癌症死亡率,心脏病和中风死亡率之间的关系。1984年至1991年期间,2445例40-69岁林县营养干预队列人群中的受试者填写了食物频率调查问卷。在随后的26年间,我们收集了食管癌,胃癌,心脏病和中风的死亡情况。利用Cox比例风险模型计算风险比和95%的可信区间。结果不同食物组总癌及食管癌死亡率没有差异,但全谷物与多种类蔬菜摄入能够降低胃癌死亡率;每天增加一次摄入全谷物和蔬菜可使胃癌风险分别降低14%（1%,25%）和19%（0%,34%）。每天增加一次蔬菜和豆类摄入可使心脏病死亡率分别降低11%（4%,17%）和37%（17%,52%）。每月增加三次水果和蔬菜摄入可使心脏病死亡率降低11%。同时,总谷物摄入,非全谷物摄入以及深绿色蔬菜的摄入可以降低中风的风险;每天增加一次以上物质的摄入可使中风风险分别降低10%（3%,17%）,10%（2%,18%）,和38%（9%,57%）。结论在中国进行的此项前瞻性研究的结果证明,某些种类食物的摄入可以降低胃癌,心脏病,中风的死亡率。我们的研究结果为谷物,蔬菜,豆类,水果和坚果能够降低以上疾病的说法提供了证据。

Ecologic study of serum selenium and upper gastrointestinal cancers in Iran

AIM: Both observational and experimental studies have shown that higher selenium status reduces the risk of upper gastrointestinal cancers in selenium deficient *** cancer registry data have shown very different rates of esophageal cancer (EC) and gastric cancer (GC) in four Provinces of Iran, namely Ardabil, Mazandaran, Golestan,and Kerman. The aim of this study was to have a preliminary assessment of the hypothesis that high rates of EC in Golestan and high rates of GC in Ardabil may be partly attributable to selenium ***: We measured serum selenium in 300 healthy adults from ArdabU (n = 100), Mazandaran (n = 50), Golestan (n = 100), and Kerman (n = 50), using inductively coupled plasma, with dynamic reaction cell, mass spectrometry (ICP-DRC-MS) at the US Centers for Disease Control (Atlanta,Georgia).RESULTS: The median serum selenium concentrations were very different in the four Provinces. The medians (IQR) for selenium in Ardabil, Mazandarn, Golestan, and Kerman were 82 (75-94), 123 (111-132), 155 (141-173), and 119 (110-128) μg/L, respectively (P<0.001). The results of linear regression showed that the Province variable, by itself,explained 76% of the variance in log selenium (r^2 = 0.76).The proportion of the populations with a serum selenium more than 90μg/L (the concentration at which serum selenoproteins are saturated) was 100% in Golestan,Kerman, and Mazandaran but only 29% in ***: Our findings suggest nat selenium defidency is not a major contributor to the high incidence of EC seen in northeastern Iran, but it may play a role in the high incidence of GC in Ardabil Province.

目的探讨河南林县居民萎缩性胃炎与食管癌的关系,为食管癌的病因学研究和防止措施提供科学依据。方法采用巢式病例对照设计,研究对象来自河南林县食管癌营养干预试验的随访队列,从1999年随访至2007年,以观察得到的食管癌作为病例组,非食管癌为对照组,使用ELISA检测队列中基线血清的胃蛋白酶原（PGI、PGII）的水平。利用logistic回归模型分析该指标与食管癌的关系。结果萎缩性胃炎不是食管癌的危险因素,低PGI的调整OR（95%CI）为0.95（0.70,1.29）,低PGI/PGⅡ的调整OR（95%CI）为1.44（0.96,2.18）。结论萎缩性胃炎（低PGI、低PGI/PGII）与食管癌发生无关,低胃蛋白酶原不能作为食管癌检测的标志物。食管癌的病因学研究还需要进一步的探讨。

[目的]探讨新鲜水果摄入是否可以降低吸烟人群食管癌的长期死亡风险。[方法]选取年龄为40~69岁8862名男性吸烟人群为研究对象,开展基线人口学特征、生活习惯、疾病史及饮食习惯的调查,随后对该人群进行随访至今约30年。以食管癌死亡病例作为研究终点。利用Log-rank检验比较不同新鲜水果摄入频率受试人群中食管癌累积死亡率间的差异。风险比(HR)和95%可信区间(CI)则通过Cox等比例风险模型进行估计,用来表示受试者死于食管癌的相对风险。[结果]截至2015年12月31日,共计发生食管癌死亡病例891例。经过30年随访后,男性吸烟人群中,不同新鲜水果摄入频率受试人群中食管癌的30年累积死亡率分别为21.91%、16.48%、14.08%、11.03%和12.09%,且随着新鲜水果摄入频次的增加,食管癌30年累积死亡率呈下降趋势。与不食用新鲜水果受试人群相比,每月吃、1~3次/周、4~6次/周和每天吃的受试者食管癌的死亡风险分别降低27%(HR=0.73,95%CI:0.61~0.87)、39%(HR=0.61,95%CI:0.50~0.75)、49%(HR=0.51,95%CI:0.35~0.73)和49%(HR=0.51,95%CI:0.35~0.75)。在调整年龄、性别、地区、体重指数、教育水平、饮酒史和家族史、干预因素后,每周摄入新鲜水果1次以上仍可以降低食管癌的死亡风险(HR=0.87,95%CI:0.76~1.00),这种保护性效应在平原地区(HR=0.78,95%CI:0.63~0.96)和无饮酒史(HR=0.82,95%CI:0.68~1.00)的受试人群中尤为明显。[结论]新鲜水果的摄入可能降低男性吸烟人群中食管癌的长期死亡风险。
