Broad learning system based on the quantized minimum error entropy criterion

The broad learning system(BlS) based on the minimum mean square error(MMSE) criterion can achieve outstanding performance without spending too much time in various machine learning ***, when data are polluted by non-Gaussian noise, the stability of BlS may be destroyed because the MMSE criterion is sensitive to outliers. Different from the MMSE criterion, the minimum error entropy(MEE) criterion utilizes the kernel function to capture high-dimensional information and decrease the negative influence of outliers, which will make BlS more discriminative and robust. Nevertheless, the computational complexity of MEE is high due to a double summation of the data size. To solve these issues, this paper proposes a new robust BlS variant based on the quantized minimum error entropy(QMEE) criterion, in which a quantization operation is used to reduce the computational complexity of MEE. The proposed model BlS-QMEE is optimized by the fixed-point iterative method, and a sufficient condition for its convergence is provided. Compared with the standard BlS and other existing robust variants of BlS, BlS-QMEE performs more satisfactorily without consuming too much time. The desirable performance of BlS-QMEE is verified by various experiments on function approximation, several public datasets, and a practical application.

Intelligent techniques foster the dissemination of new discoveries and novel technologies that advance the ability of robots to assist and support humans. The human-centered intelligent robot has become an important research field that spans all of the robot capabilities including navigation, intelligent control, pattern recognition and human-robot interaction. This paper focuses on the recent achievements and presents a survey of existing works on human-centered robots. Furthermore, we provide a comprehensive survey of the recent development of the human-centered intelligent robot and discuss the issues and challenges in the field.

Background: The evolution of sexual signals is not only determined by immediate sexual selection but also by selection arising from the environment and the interaction with developmental *** this study we aimed to investigate how the badge size of male house sparrows(Passer domesticus) is correlated to avian malaria infections as well as to prenatal testosterone exposure,measured as the 2D:4D digit *** rationale behind this study is that the immunosuppressive effect of maternal testosterone deposition combined with the fitness cost imposed by parasites may cause important trade-offs to the development of secondary sexual ***: Assuming that vector abundance is a key variable associated with infection risk by avian malaria,we caught adult male sparrows from eight different populations in the Camargue,France,four of which were located in a vector-controlled area,and the other four in an untreated *** each bird we measured its badge size,digit ratio and took blood to determine its infections *** used PCR to identify the malaria parasite species and strain that caused the ***: Contrary to our expectation,prevalence of disease did not differ across the vector-treatment regions,with around 80 % of birds being infected in both areas,and those infections were caused largely by a single strain,Plasmodium relictum *** infected birds had a badge size not significantly different from uninfected males,there was a condition-dependent association between badge size,infection status and maternal testosterone ***: This study illustrates that the complexity of temporal and ecological dimensions makes the relationships between disease,testosterone-related traits and secondary sexual signals that have been previously reported less general than thought.

In this paper, the recent development in modeling seabed dissipative mechanisms in shallow water is reviewed. Specifically, laminar and turbulent boundary layer solutions as well as viscous mud flow solutions under transient waves are presented. These analytical solutions are compared with experimental data for both solitary waves and cnoidal waves. Very goed agreement is ohtained. The Boussinesq equations with boundary layer effects and the muddy seabed effects are also shown.

Microbial activities impact arsenic （As） transformation in mine tailings substantially, yet little is understood on the functional diversity of As metabolism genes. This study explored this issue using a metagenomic approach coupled by a local BlASTN procedure established in our recent studies. An assembled metagenome, recovered from hypersaline and sulfidic mine tailings, was screened for As metabolism genes aioA, arrA, arsC and arsM. This was done using a local BlASTN procedure against databases of the As metabolism genes built in this study. Putative As metabolism genes detected in the assembled metagenome included 11 arsM, 20 arsC and 1 arrA full-length sequences. Together with the rRNA-based phylogenetic profiling results, a picture depicting microbial As cycling in the tailings to the genus level was obtained. It was found that most of the dominant genera in the tailings potentially harboured the genes for As reduction and/or methylation. In particular, a typical pyrite-eater present in the tailings, Thioalkalivibrio sp., was found to harbour not only arsC and arsM, but also arrA. These results highlight the unexpected diversity of As metabolism genes in the tailings, especially considering the extremely low species diversity therein. The microbial As cycling picture established here has potential use for guiding the purposeful manipulation of As biogeochemistry in the railings.

In this paper,the singularity-free predefined-time fuzzy adaptive tracking control problem is studied for non-strict feedback(NSF)nonlinear systems considering mismatched external *** innovative practical predefined-time stability(PPTS)criterion is proposed to provide the theoretical basis for subsequent control *** to the existing predefined-time stability(PTS)criterion,this criterion has a broader application range and can solve the control design issues of nonlinear systems with system *** logic systems(FlSs)are employed to identify unknown nonlinear *** on the backstepping control technology,a singularity-free predefined-time control(PTC)design method is proposed,in which the hyperbolic tangent function is utilized to avoid the singular problem,and the nature of fuzzy basis function is adopted to resolve the algebraic loop *** PPTS of the closed-loop NSF nonlinear system is proven with the lyapunov theory and the proposed PPTS ***,the efficiency of the presented PTC design method is verified by several sets of simulations on a single link manipulator system.

Boosting Adaptive Weighted Broad learning System for Multi-label learning

Multi-label classification is a challenging problem that has attracted significant attention from researchers, particularly in the domain of image and text attribute annotation. However, multi-label datasets are prone to serious intra-class and inter-class imbalance problems, which can significantly degrade the classification performance. To address the above issues, we propose the multi-label weighted broad learning system(MlW-BlS) from the perspective of label imbalance weighting and label correlation mining. Further, we propose the multi-label adaptive weighted broad learning system(MlAW-BlS) to adaptively adjust the specific weights and values of labels of MlW-BlS and construct an efficient imbalanced classifier set. Extensive experiments are conducted on various datasets to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed model, and the results demonstrate its superiority over other advanced approaches.
