Experimentally unsupervised deconvolution for light-sheet microscopy with propagation-invariant beams

Deconvolution is a challenging inverse problem,particularly in techniques that employ complex engineered pointspread functions,such as microscopy with propagation-invariant ***,we present a deep-learning method for deconvolution that,in lieu of end-to-end training with ground truths,is trained using known physics of the imaging ***,we train a generative adversarial network with images generated with the known point-spread function of the system,and combine this with unpaired experimental data that preserve perceptual *** method rapidly and robustly deconvolves and super-resolves microscopy images,demonstrating a two-fold improvement in image contrast to conventional deconvolution *** contrast to common end-to-end networks that often require 1000-10,000s paired images,our method is experimentally unsupervised and can be trained solely on a few hundred regions of *** demonstrate its performance on light-sheet microscopy with propagation-invariant Airy beams in oocytes,preimplantation embryos and excised brain tissue,as well as illustrate its utility for Bessel-beam *** method aims to democratise learned methods for deconvolution,as it does not require data acquisition outwith the conventional imaging protocol.

This paper examines the evolution of the interfacial deflection energy release rates in multilayered structures under four-point *** j-integral and the extended finite element method(XFEM)are adopted to investigate the evolution of the interfacial deflection energy release rates of composite *** results not only verify the accuracy of analytical solutions for the steady-state interfacial deflection energy release rate,but also provide the evolutionary history of the interfacial deflection energy release rate under different crack *** addition,non-dimensional parametric analyses are performed to discuss the effects of normalized ratios of the crack length,the elastic modulus,and the thickness on the interfacial deflection energy release *** results demonstrate that the elastic modulus ratio and thickness ratio have a distinct influence on the interfacial deflection energy release rate for multilayered ***,an unstable interfacial crack tends to occur for elastic multilayer beams with higher elastic modulus on the upper sub-beam under bending *** unstable interfacial fracture shows a decreasing interfacial deflection energy release rate with an increasing interfacial crack length.

Systemic inflammation is a feature of chronic obstructive pulmo- nary disease （COPD）. Defects in T cell-mediated anti-inflamma- tory pathways such as cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen-4 （CTLA- 4） may promote damaging inflammation. This study provides novel data implicating the impaired induction of an anti-inflam- matory molecule, CTLA-4 in the elevated inflammation observed in COPD patients. Low induction of CTLA-4 in COPD patients paralleled increased markers of systemic inflammation ex vivo and increased T-cell responses to a bacterial superantigen, staphylo- coccal enterotoxin-B （SEB） in vitro. This mechanism may explain the increased inflammation in COPD patients.

A new theropod dinosaur, Shidaisaurusjinae gen. et sp. nov., has been described on the basis of an incomplete skeleton. The specimen was found near the base of the Upper Lufeng Formation （early Middle jurassic） in Yunnan, China. It is the first theropod dinosaur from the Middle jurassic of Yunnan. Shidaisaurus jinae is distinguishable from other jurassic theropods by certain features from the braincase, axis, and pelvic girdle. The absence of any pleurocoels in the axis or in any anterior dorsal vertebrae suggests that the new Lufeng theropod is relatively primitive and more plesiomorphic than most of the Middle to Late jurassic theropods from China. Most Chinese taxa of jurassic theropod dinosaurs have not been well described; a further detailed study will be necessary for us to determine their phylogenetic relationships with Shidaisaurusjinae.

4D imaging of void nucleation,growth,and coalescence from large and small inclusions in steel under tensile deformation

Samples of SA508 grade 3 nuclear pressure vessel ferritic steel were subjected to tensile straining whilst being simultaneously imaged in 3D in real time using high resolution,high frame rate time-lapse synchrotron computed tomography(CT).This enabled direct observation of void development from nucleation,through growth to coalescence and final failure validating many inferences made post-mortem or by theoretical models,as well as raising new *** sparse,large inclusions were found to nucleate voids at essentially zero plastic strain(consistent with zero interfacial strength);these became increasingly elongated with *** contrast,a high density of small spherical voids were found to nucleate from the sub-micron cementite particles at larger strains(>200%)only in the centre of the necked(high triaxiality)*** interfacial strength approaching 2100 MPa was inferred and soon after their nucleation,these small voids coalesce to form internal microcracks that lead to the final failure of the *** surprisingly,under these conditions of generally low triaxial constraint the large voids are simply cut across and appear to play no significant role in determining the final *** implications of these results are discussed in terms of ductile fracture behaviour and the Gurson model for ductile fracture.

Packed columns are widely used in the chemical industry such as absorption,stripping,distillation,and extraction in the production of *** chemicals,and *** loss and pressure drop correlations are of special interest when it comes to the hydrodynamic properties of a *** pressure loss across the column is of interest in the design phase when the size of the blower to drive the gas stream through the column has to be *** loading point and flooding point are also influenced by the pressure loss and the area of operation is determined from these *** work examines four different correlations on pressure *** correlations are(i)Ergun’s equation(1952),(ii)an improved version of Ergun’s equation by Stichlmair,Bravo,and Fair(1989),(iii)an equation developed by Billet and Schultes(1999),and(iv)an equation by Rocha,Bravo,and Fair(1993).The complexity of the correlations is increasing in the mentioned order,Ergun’s equation being the simplest *** study investigates if the more complicated correlations give better predictions to pressure drop in packed *** is determined by comparing the correlations to experimental data for pressure drop in a packed column with 8.2 m of structured packing using water as the liquid and atmospheric air as the *** experiments were carried out for determining the pressure drop in the column with liquid flows varying from 0 to 500 kg·h^(-1).At constant liquid flow,the gas flow was varied from approximately 10 to 70 kg·h^(-1).The pressure drop across the non-wetted column was best described by the correlation by Rocha et *** the pressure drop for liquid flows from 100 to 500 kg·h^(-1)was,in general,best described by Stichlmair’s *** an irrigated column,the highest deviation was a predicted pressure drop 69.6%lower than *** best prediction was 0.1%higher than the *** study shows,surprisingly,that for a system of water and atmospheric air,complica

Biodiversity has been subjected to increasing anthropogenic *** is critical to understand the different processes that govern community assembly and species coexistence under biogeographic processes and anthropogenic ***(Aves:Phasianidae)are highly threatened birds and China supports the richest pheasant species *** the spatial patterns and underlying factors associated with multidimensional biodiversity of species richness(SR),functional diversity(FD),and phylogenetic diversity(PD)of pheasants in China is helpful to understand not only the processes that govern pheasant community assembly and species coexistence,but also pheasant biodiversity *** used a total of 45 pheasant species in China and analyzed the SR,FD,PD,and functional and phylogenetic structures by integrating species distribution maps,functional traits and phylogenies based on 50 km×50 km grid *** further used simultaneous autoregressive(SAR)models to explore the factors that determined these *** southern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau(QTP),Hengduan Mountains,southwestern Mountains,the east of the Qilian Mountains,the Qinling,southern China displayed higher SR,FD,and PD,which were determined by elevation,habitat heterogeneity,temperature seasonality,and vegetation *** primarily determined the functional and phylogenetic structures of the pheasant *** in the highlands were marked by functional and phylogenetic clustering,particularly in the QTP,whereas the lowlands in eastern China comprised community *** pheasant assemblages were composed of young *** of functional and phylogenetic structures and richness-controlled functional and phylogenetic diversity differed between regions,suggesting that phylogenetic structures are not a good proxy for identifying functional *** revealed the significant role of elevation in pheasant community assemblages in *** inter
