Upconversion luminescence of Gd2O3:Er3+and Gd2O3:Er3+/silica nanophosphors fabricated by EDTA combustion method

Gd2O3:Er^3+nanophosphors were fabricated by the combustion method in presence of Na2 ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid(EDTA-Na2)as fuel at not high temperature(≤350℃)within a very short time of 5 *** added concentration of Er^3+ions in Gd2O3 matrix was changed from 0.5 mol%to 5.0 mol%.The X-ray diffraction pattern of samples indicates the monoclinic structure of Gd2O3:Er^3+.The morphology and chemical composition analysis of the Gd2O3:Er^3+samples are characterized by a field emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM)and a Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer(FTIR).The photoluminescence(PL),photo luminescence excitation(PLE)and upconversion(UC)at room temperature of the prepared materials with different concentrations of Er^3+were *** PL of Gd2O3:Er^3+nanomaterials are shown in visible at 545,594,623,648,688 nm under excitation at 275 *** emission bands from transitions of Er^3+from 2P3/2 to 4F9/2 are observed,UC luminescent spectra of the Gd2O3:Er^3+/silica nanocomposites under 976 nm excitation show the bands at 548 and 670 *** influence of excitation power at 980 nm for transitions were measured and *** results indicate that the upconversion process of Gd2O3:Er^3+/silica is two photons absorption *** low temperature dependence of UC luminescent intensities of the main bands of Gd2O3:Er^3+was investigated towards development of a nanotemperature sensor in the range of 10-300 K.

Enhancement of water absorption capacity and compressibility of hydrogel sponges prepared from gelatin/chitosan matrix with different polyols

The hydrogel sponges have prepared successfully from gelatin/chitosan(GEL/CTS) matrix with different polyols basing on scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) analysis. The results indicate that the compressibility and thermal properties(thermal gravimetric analysis, TGA) were improved significantly with adding the different polyols [poly(vinyl alcohol)-PVA, and poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(propylene glycol)-poly(ethylene glycol) – PEPEG] into GEL/CTS matrix. Specially, the as-prepared hydrogel sponges with superabsorbent behavior were also investigated with the attained water absorption capacity to 605 g gand 585 g gfor GCV＿1/1/0.3 and GCE＿1/1/0.3 sponges, respectively, as well as the excellent water absorption capacity in a wide range of p H and salt concentration. Hence, these studies demonstrated that the hydrogel sponges are concerned as potential and promising candidates to apply especially in the fields of biomedicine and hygiene.

Utilization and Satisfaction with HIV Services at 7 Provinces in Vietnam: A Cross-Sectional Study

The study was carried out to determine utilization and satisfaction with essential HIV services from HIV individuals and high-risk populations in 7 socioeconomic provinces nationwide. A cross-sectional approach was applied in the study. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews using self-report questionnaires. Findings from 2380 respondents indicated a high percentage of utilization as well as a high level of satisfaction, in particular among men who have sex with men (MSM) and female sex worker (FSW) sub-group. Needle, syringe, and condom programs had lower usage and satisfaction mean scores in comparison with other services. The proportion of people who used drugs (PWID) and participated in the needle and syringe program was 53.6%. HIV counseling and testing uptake proportion of overall respondents in the last 12 months was 82.2% while the rate of antiretroviral treatment among infected PWID was 74.9%. The level of satisfaction with treatment services was found to be higher than preventive interventions (p < 0.05). Analysis using univariable logistic regression suggested an association between some socioeconomic factors such as income, employment, educational attainment, and marital status with subjects’ satisfaction with several HIV services. Preventive services, especially needle, syringe and condom programs should be prioritized to scale up the coverage and effectiveness. Innovative approaches targeting at PWID should be promoted to increase their access to prevention programs as well as HIV care when needed.

Indications for and techniques of keratoplasty at Vietnam National Institute of Ophthalmology

AIM： To report the indications for and techniques of corneal transplantation at Vietnam National Institute of Ophthalmology （VNIO） over a period of 12y （2002-2013）, METHODS： Records of patients who had undergone corneal transplantation at VNIO from January 1, 2002 to January 1, 2014 were reviewed to determine the indication for and type of corneal transplant performed. Patient age, gender, indication for corneal transplantation and surgical technique were recorded and analyzed. RESULTS： Corneal transplantation were underwent in 1390 eyes of 1278 patients with a mean age of 44.9±18.1y during the period under review. The most common indication was infectious corneal ulcer （n=670; 48.2%）, followed by corneal scar （n=333, 24.0% ）, corneal dystrophy （n=138, 9.9%） and failed graft （n=112, 8.1%）. Nearly all procedures performed were penetrating keratoplasty （n=1300, 93.5% ）, with a few lamellar keratoplasty procedures performed： lamellar keratoplasty （n=52, 3.7%）, Descemet＇s stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty （n =27, 1.9% ） and deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty （n =11, 0.8%）.CONCLUSION： While the most common indication for keratoplasty was infectious keratitis, nearly all indications for corneal transplantation were managed with penetrating keratoplasty, However, lamellar keratoplasty techniques, including deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty and Descemet＇s stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty, are being performed with increasing frequency for isolated stromal and endothelial disorders, respectively,

Incorporation of hydroxyapatite in crosslinked gelatin/chitosan/poly(vinyl alcohol) hybrids utilizing as reinforced composite sponges, and their water absorption ability

The crosslinked gelatin/chitosan/poly(vinyl alcohol)/hydroxyapatite(GEL/CTS/PVA/HAp, GCPH) sponges were fabricated by a freeze-drying method to yield the reinforced composite sponges with proper features. The porosity value and pore size of the crosslinked GCPH sponges reached ～80% and 50–100 μm, respectively, which can be an appropriate range to allow cells to migrate into the reinforced composite sponges in the tissue engineering technology. Besides, the proper bonding presence between HAp particles and the crosslinked polymeric matrix or the crosslinked network formation between the polymers were also proved through fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), X-ray diffraction(XRD) and thermal gravimetric(TG/DTG) analysis. Owing to incorporation of HAp particles and good distribution of HAp particles inside the crosslinked polymeric matrix, their mechanical properties were improved through the determination of compression tests. Concomitantly, their water absorption ability reached effectively in both the distilled water and Na Cl solution, and their recovery also maintained well for 10 absorbing–squeezing cycles to be considered as an effective reusability for the crosslinked sponge ***, the crosslinked GCPH sponge prepared in the present study can become a potential candidate to apply especially in the biomedical/medical applications and tissue engineering technology.

这些年来,随着全球经济快速发达,各国经济也随着发展,越南也不例外,越南人民的物质生活也日益丰富,生活水平方面也不断提高。然而,由此带来的社会问题也日益严重。越南大学生深受吸毒、同性恋、偷窃、嫖娼、集体斗殴、自杀等社会不良现象影响。导致越南大学生的伦理道德正在走向沦丧和缺失。为此,越南佛教为了大学生能树立正确的价值观、世界观和人生观,认识自我,扬长避短,建设优秀的校园环境,从而为国家培养输送品学兼优的人才。是一项值得研究的重要课题。本文以《以佛教五戒促进越南当代大学生精神养成的研究》来分析。本文主要研究几个部分:第一部分为绪论,这部分我想要从今世的越南社会生活近况着手,并通过对中国与越南的研究状态进行阐述并发挥,寻找研究问题,并展开论文思路,考虑意义与钻研方法。第二部分主要分析当代越南大学生的物质现状与现存问题,并对其现存问题进行、分类分析和总结,为本次课题以佛教五戒解决问题研究项目提供方向。第三部分主要对佛教五戒内容进行主要阐述,并分析了佛教五戒对越南大学生良好健康精神养成的可能意义。第四部分当代越南大学生授指佛教五戒教育以促进良好精神养成提出相应可行的接受途径,并对所提提供的实施途径进行深入研究跟踪取证(附上效果照片)。最终部分为结论部分,对此次课题研究成果和不够进行概括和总结。

Background: In order to end tuberculosis(TB),it is necessary to expand coverage of TB care services,including systematic screening ***,more evidence is needed for groups among whom systematic screening is only conditionally recommended by the World Health *** study evaluated concurrent screening in multiple target groups using community health workers(CHW).Methods:: In our two-year intervention study lasting from October 2017 to September 2019,CHWs in six districts of Ho Chi minh City,Viet Nam verbally screened three urban priority groups:(1)household TB contacts;(2)close TB contacts;and(3)residents of urban priority areas without clear documented exposure to TB including hotspots,boarding homes and urban *** persons were referred for further screening with chest radiography and follow-on testing with the Xpert MTB/RIF *** individuals with normal or without radiography results were tested on smear *** described the TB care cascade and characteristics for each priority group,and calculated yield and number needed to ***,we fitted a mixed-effect logistic regression to identify the association of these target groups and secondary patient covariates with TB treatment ***: We verbally screened 321020 people including 24232 household contacts,3182 social and close contacts and 293606 residents of urban priority *** resulted in 1138 persons treated for TB,of whom 85 were household contacts,39 were close contacts and 1014 belonged to urban priority area *** yield of active TB in these groups was 351,1226 and 345 per 100000,respectively,corresponding to numbers needed to screen of 285,82 and *** fitted model showed that close contacts[adjusted odds ratio(aOR)=2.07;95%CI:1.38–3.11;P<0.001]and urban priority area residents(aOR=2.18;95%CI:1.69–2.79;P<0.001)had a greater risk of active TB than household ***: The study detected a large number of un
