叶城-狮泉河地质路线位于青藏高原西部,全长1056km,它穿过了西昆仑山和喀喇昆仑山东端。中法两国科学家于1989年7月—8月联合考察了这条路线,根据蛇绿岩、古生物、沉积相、岩浆活动、构造变形及变质作用,将路线经过地段,自北而南分为5个地体及四条蛇绿岩缝合带,这些地体时代自北而南有逐渐变新的趋势。

The Qinling Mountains separating the northern from the southern China plate is a key region for the study of structural evolution of eastern Asia. It is composed of the Palaeozoic fold belt in its northern part and the Variscan and Indosinian fold belts in its southern part. The evolution of the former is marked by the closure of a northward subducting oceanic basin in the early stage, followed by southward obduction of ophiolites and intracontinental thrusting during the Variscan; whereas that of the latter is represented by intracontinental, shallow crustal deformation on the basis of a large-scale detachment structure(with a horizontal slip of at least of 100 km). Since the late Palaeozoic, however, both of the belts have been cut by a series of east-west sinistral strike-slip faults.

Coronal magnetic fields evolve quasi-statically over long timescales and dynamically over short *** of now there exist no regular measurements of coronal magnetic fields,and therefore generating the coronal magnetic field evolution using observations of the magnetic field at the photosphere is a fundamental requirement to understanding the origin of transient phenomena from solar active regions(ARs).Using the magneto-friction(MF)approach,we aim to simulate the coronal field evolution in the solar AR *** MF method is implemented in the open source PENCIL CODE along with a driver module to drive the initial field with different boundary conditions prescribed from observed vector magnetic fields at the *** order to work with vector potential and the observations,we prescribe three types of bottom boundary drivers with varying free-magnetic *** MF simulation reproduces the magnetic structure,which better matches the sigmoidal morphology exhibited by Atmospheric Imaging Assembly(AIA)images at the pre-eruptive *** found that the already sheared field further driven by the sheared magnetic field will maintain and further build the highly sheared coronal magnetic configuration,as seen in AR ***-driven MF simulation is a viable tool to generate the coronal magnetic field evolution,capturing the formation of the twisted flux rope and its eruption.

Irradiation of a thin metallic wire with an intense femtosecond laser pulse creates a strong discharge wave that travels as a narrow pulse along the wire *** traveling discharge efficiently emits secondary radiation with spectral characteristics that are mostly defined by the wire *** examples of designs are considered here in the context of generation of intense terahertz radiation with controllable characteristics for various scientific and technological *** proposed setup may be easily realized,and it has the merits of robustness,versatility,and high conversion efficiency(reaching several percent)of laser energy to terahertz radiation.

The critical electric fields of hot SF6 are calculated including both electron and ion kinetics in wide ranges of temperature and pressure, namely from 300 K up to 4000 K and 2 atmospheres up to 32 atmospheres respectively. Based on solving a multi-term electron Boltz- mann equation the calculations use improved electron-gas collision cross sections for twelve SF6 dissociation products with a particular emphasis on the electron-vibrating molecule interactions. The ion kinetics is also considered and its role on the critical field becomes non negligible as the temperature is above 2000 K. These critical fields are then used in hydrodynamics simulations which correctly predict the circuit breaker behaviours observed in the case of breaking tests.

Unprecedented changes in the structure of the population have led to a "graying" of America. Increase in life expectancy and declining birth rate have resulted in a larger proportion of Americans who are elderly. At the beginning of this century, less than 10% of the population were aged 55 or older—about 7.1 million people; in 1982, more than one-fifth of the population were over the age of 55—an estimated 48.0 million persons. In the year 2050, one in three persons is expected to be over the age of 55. During the past two decades, the 65-plus population grew twice as fast as the rest of the population, and those over 85 years of age comprised the fastest growing segment of the U.S. population. In 1960, those over the age of 85 comprised one-half of 1% of the population; just 20 years later, this proportion was doubled and is expected to double again to 1.9% in the year 2000. Given current projections, the 85-plus age group will comprise more than 5% of the population in the year 2050. There are currently more than 2.2 million people in the U.S. over the age of 85 and this age group is expected to increase to 16 million in 2050 (Figs 1,2).

Collision of laser-driven subrelativistic high-density ion flows provides a way to create extremely compressed ion conglomerates and study their *** paper presents a theoretical study of the electrodynamic implosion of ions inside a hollow spherical or cylindrical shell irradiated by femtosecond petawatt laser *** propose to apply a very effective mechanism for ion acceleration in a self-consistent field with strong charge separation,based on the oscillation of laser-accelerated fast electrons in this field near the thin *** electrons are generated on the outer side of the shell under irradiation by the intense laser *** is shown that ions,in particular protons,may be accelerated at the implosion stage to energies of tens and hundreds of MeV when a sub-micrometer shell is irradiated by femtosecond laser pulses with an intensity of 10^(21)–10^(23)W cm^(−2).

THE retina in birds projects to the contralateral tectum. Our previous study and some otherphysiological, histochetnical and neurochemical evidence have suggested that the retino-tectal projection in birds might use glutamate as an excitatory transmitter. However, very lit-tle is known about its particular receptor type(s), because there are at least three major phar-macologically defined types of glutamate receptors: NMDA, AMPA/Kainate, andmetabotropic glutamate receptors.
