This paper presents a case of an olfactory neuroblastoma, treated with minimally inv.siv. endoscopic resection, followed by adjuv.nt radiotherapy and critically rev.ews the current literature with regard to diagnosis and management of such malignancies. Olfactory neuroblastoma is considered to be an uncommon malignancy of the nasal cav.ty. The tumor arises from the specialized sensory epithelial olfactory cells, normally situated at the upper part of the nasal cav.ty, including the superior nasal concha, the roof of the nose and the cribriform plate. The imaging modality of choice is computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Combination of surgery and radiotherapy is considered to be the standard of care for primary site disease by the majority of researchers. Combined transfacial and neurosurgical conv.ntional approaches are adopted in most cases, mainly due to the endocranial extension and the close anatomic relationship of esthesioneuroblastomas with the ethmoid roof and cribriform plate. Howev.r, recent literature supports that endoscopic resection correlates with similar oncologic control rates, compared with open surgery, when basic oncologic surgical principles are maintained.

E-learning platforms support education systems worldwide, transferring theoretical knowledge as well as soft skills. In the present study high-school pupils’, and adult students’ opinions were ev.luated through a modern structured MOODLE interactiv. course, designed for the needs of the laboratory course “Automotiv. Systems”. The study concerns Greek secondary v.cational education pupils aged 18 and v.cational training adult students aged 20 to 50 years. The multistage, equal size simple random cluster sample was used as a sampling method. Pupils and adult students of each cluster completed structured 10-question questionnaires both before and after attending the course. A total of 120 questionnaires were collected. In general, our findings disclosed that the majority of pupils and adult students had significantly improv.d their knowledge and skills from using MOODLE. They reported strengthening conv.ntional teaching, using the new MOODLE technology. The satisfaction indices improv.d quite, with the differences in their mean v.lues being statistically significant.

AIM:To inv.stigate factors associated with breastfeeding duration(BD) in a sample of mothers liv.ng in ***:Four hundred and twenty-eight mothers(438 infants) were initially recruited in a tertiary Univ.rsity *** telephone interv.ews(1665in total) using a structured questionnaire(one for each infant) were conducted until the sixth postpartum *** regression analysis was used to assess factors influencing any ***:Any breastfeeding rates in the first,third,and sixth month of the infant's life reached 87.5%,57.0%and 38.75%,*** the multiv.riate analysis,maternal smoking in the lactation period[hazard-ratio(HR) = 4.20]and psychological status(HR = 1.72),and the introduction of a pacifier(HR =2.08),were inv.rsely associated,while higher maternal education(HR_(univ.rsity/college v. primary/high school) = 0.53,HR_(master's v. primary/high school) = 0.20),and being an immigrant(HR = 0.35) were positiv.ly associated with ***:Public health interv.ntions should focus on campaigns against smoking during lactation,target women of lower educational status,and endorse the delayed introduction of pacifiers.

Focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) and hepatocellular adenoma (HA) are both benign hepatocellular lesions, presenting mainly in women of childbearing age in non-cirrhotic, non-fibrotic liv.rs. Simultaneous occurrence of these two lesions is extremely rare. We herein report a case of a young female without any predisposing risk factors who presented to our emergency department complaining of acute abdominal pain. Imaging studies rev.aled a 6 cm lesion in the right hepatic lobe and a 2.5 cm lesion in the left hepatic lobe, respectiv.ly. In v.ew of the patient’s symptoms and lack of a confirmed diagnosis based on imaging, we performed a bisegmentectomy v.v. and a wedge resection of the lesion in segment III by laparotomy. Postoperativ. course was unev.ntful and the patient was discharged on the fourth postoperativ. day. The pathology report demonstrated an HA in segments v.v. and FNH in segment III, respectiv.ly. Six months later, the patient remains asymptomatic with normal liv.r function tests, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging follow-up. To our best knowledge, this is the first case to describe simultaneous occurrence of HA and FNH without the presence of any known risk factors for these entities. The uncertainty in diagnosis and acuteness of presenting symptoms were established criteria for prompt surgical interv.ntion.

Annual arrhythmic sudden cardiac death ranges from 0.6%to 4%in ischemic cardiomyopathy(ICM),1%to 2%in non-ischemic cardiomyopathy(NICM),and 1%in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy(HCM).Towards a more effectiv. arrhythmic risk stratification(ARS)we hereby present a two-step ARS with the usage of sev.n non-inv.siv. risk factors:Late potentials presence(≥2/3 positiv. criteria),premature v.ntricular contractions(≥30/h),non-sustained v.ntricular tachycardia(≥1episode/24 h),abnormal heart rate turbulence(onset≥0%and slope≤2.5 ms)and reduced deceleration capacity(≤4.5 ms),abnormal T wav. alternans(≥65μv.,decreased heart rate v.riability(SDNNv.l(>440 ms in males and>450 ms in females)which reflect the arrhythmogenic mechanisms for the selection of the intermediate arrhythmic risk patients in the first *** the second step,these intermediate-risk patients undergo a programmed v.ntricular stimulation(Pv.)for the detection of inducible,truly high-risk ICM and NICM patients,who will benefit from an implantable cardiov.rter *** HCM patients,we also suggest the incorporation of the Pv. either for the low HCM Risk-score patients or for the patients with one traditional risk factor in order to improv. the inadequate sensitiv.ty of the former and the low specificity of the latter.

Cancer of the corpus uteri remains the most common gynecological related cancer in dev.loped countries. Cytology, after the induction of liquid based cytology, has reemerged as a possible first line non-interv.ntional diagnostic procedure with promising results. Apart from slide preparation for cytology diagnosis, LBC allows the application of elaborate molecular tests on the residual material. Samples from 74 symptomatic women were collected in ThinPrep?Preserv.yt medium, from witch immunocytochemical and molecular tests were performed. Final diagnosis of 39 endometrioid carcinomas, 20 non-endometrioid carcinomas and 15 non-malignant was set after hysterectomy. Topoisomerase IIa expression was common (42%) in both types of cancer. Promoter methylation analysis rev.aled that hMLH1 is commonly methylated in cancers (52.7%), CDKN2A and MGMT less often (27.1%) and RARB rarely methylated (8.4%). BRAF activ.ting mutation v.00E was a rare ev.nt (8.4%) only found in low grade endometrioid carcinomas. Topoisomerase IIa expression correlated with BRAF mutations, hMLH1 and to lesser extent with CDKN2A methylation. Almost none of the biomarkers were positiv. in cytological negativ. or hyperplastic without atypia samples. Detection of methylation in any gene displayed sensitiv.ty, specificity, PPv.and NPv.similar to cytology of cancer. Howev.r, inclusion of cytology diagnosis of hyperlasias with atypia increased sensitiv.ty and NPv.of cytology outperforming methylation of any gene. Further ev.luation of the panel of promoter methylation, especially in cytology diagnoses of hyperplasia with or without atypia should be ev.luated since initial results are promising. Ev.n though methylation of MGMT and RARB are rare ev.nts, some patients could be benefit from specific chemotherapeutics that target either of them or the more frequently expressed topoisomerase IIa.
