Grafts in Peyronie’s surgery without the use of prostheses:a systematic review and meta-analysis

Peyronie’s disease(PD)is characterized by abnormal penile curvature,and various surgical methods have been developed usingdifferent graft ***,there is currently no universal agreement on which type of graft is the *** objective of thisreview was to evaluate the available literature and identify the most effective graft material for penile curvature correction in PD.A literature search was conducted using electronic databases,including PubMed,scopus,and the Cochrane *** patients,intervention,comparison,and outcome(PICO)approach was used to define the eligibility of *** authors independentlyselected studies,evaluated them,and extracted ***-effect models using the Dersimonian–Laird method were *** were single-arm studies and had a high risk of *** mucosa grafts(BMG)were found to result in the highest penilestraightening rates and were associated with the least de novo erectile *** grafts demonstrated a high successrate in straightening despite a higher mean preoperative curvature,while Tutoplast grafts had a higher incidence of postoperativeerectile *** had the highest percentage of postoperative penile ***,the Tachosil graft showed thebest performance when preoperative curvature is taken into *** on the available literature,BMG appear to be the mosteffective for penile curvature correction in PD,but this is offset by the requirement for low preoperative *** Tachosilgraft shows the best overall performance when preoperative curvature is *** randomized clinical trials arestill needed to determine graft superiority.

E-learning platforms support education systems worldwide, transferring theoretical knowledge as well as soft skills. In the present study high-school pupils’, and adult students’ opinions were evaluated through a modern structured MOODLE interactive course, designed for the needs of the laboratory course “Automotive systems”. The study concerns Greek secondary vocational education pupils aged 18 and vocational training adult students aged 20 to 50 years. The multistage, equal size simple random cluster sample was used as a sampling method. Pupils and adult students of each cluster completed structured 10-question questionnaires both before and after attending the course. A total of 120 questionnaires were collected. In general, our findings disclosed that the majority of pupils and adult students had significantly improved their knowledge and skills from using MOODLE. They reported strengthening conventional teaching, using the new MOODLE technology. The satisfaction indices improved quite, with the differences in their mean values being statistically significant.

The objective of the study was the kinetic modelling of the shelf-life of osmotically pre-treated fish during refrigerated and super-chilled *** gilthead seabream(sparus aurata)fillets were treated for 0-360 min at 15℃ in osmotic solutions 50:5 high dextrose equivalent maltodextrin:NaCl/100 g(HDM),40:10:5 HDM:trehalose:NaCl/100 g(HDM+treh)and 40:10:5 HDM:glucosamine:NaCl/100 g(HDM+gluc).Water loss,solid gain,salt content and water activity were monitored throughout *** untreated and osmotically pre-treated for 45 min were aerobically packed and stored isothermally at 15,10,5,2.5,0,-1 and -3℃.Quality assessment was based on microbial growth(total viable count,Pseudomonas spp.,Brochothrix thermosphacta,Enterobacteriaceae spp.,H_(2)s-producing bacteria,lactic acid bacteria,yeasts and moulds),total volatile nitrogen(TVB-N),lipid oxidation(TBARs)and sensory *** indices were kinetically modelled and temperature dependence of quality loss rates was modelled by Ratkowsky *** pre-treatment led to significant shelf-life extension of fillets,in terms of microbial growth,chemical changes and organoleptic *** pre-treatment with the alternative solutes led to depression of the freezing point(-1.8,-2.6,-3.2 and-3.5℃ for the untreated samples and the osmotically pre-treated with HDM,HDM t treh and HDM t gluc,respectively).TVB-N values were higher in untreated samples,followed by osmotically treated fillets,mainly at higher storage temperatures(i.e.10 and 15℃).Based on the mathematical models for sensory evaluation scoring,the shelf-life was 12,19,22 and 22 days at 0℃ for untreated and osmotically pre-treated with HDM,HDM t treh and HDM t gluc fish slices,respectively,while the respective values at -3℃ were 21,35,38 and 38 *** alternative solutes had no significant effect on the quality and shelf-life of pre-treated fish fillet during storage at refrigerated conditions.

In a field rapidly evolving over the past few years, the management of inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD), Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, is becoming in-creasingly complex, demanding and challenging. In the recent years, IBD quality measures aiming to improve patients' care have been developed, multiple new medical therapies have been approved, new treatment goals have been set with the "treat--to--target" concept and drug monitoring has been implemented into IBD clinical management. Moreover, patients are increasingly using Internet resources to obtain information about their health conditions. The healthcare professional with an interest in treating IBD patients should deal with all these challenges in everyday practice by establishing, enhancing and maintaining a strong core of knowledge and skills related to IBD. This is an ongoing process and traditionally these needs are covered with additional reading of textbook or journal articles, attendance at meetings or conferences, or at local rounds. Web--based learning resources expand the options for knowledge acquisition and save time and costs as well. In the new era of communications technology, web-based resources can cover the educational needs of both patients and healthcare professionals and can contribute to improvement of disease management and patient care. Healthcare professionals can individually visit and navigate regularly relevant websites and tailor choices for educational activities according to their existing needs. They can also provide their patients with a few certified suitable internet resources. In this review, we explored the Internet using PubMed and startpage(Google), for web-based IBD--related educational resources aiming to provide a guide for those interested in obtaining certified knowledge in this subject.

Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) have an increased risk of vascular complications. Thromboembolic complications, both venous and arterial, are serious extraintestinal manifestations complicating the course of IBD and can lead to significant morbidity and mortality. Patients with IBD are more prone to thromboembolic complications and IBD per se is a risk factor for thromboembolic disease. Data suggest that thrombosis is a specific feature of IBD that can be involved in both the occurrence of thromboembolic events and the pathogenesis of the disease. The exact etiology for this special association between IBD and thromboembolism is as yet unknown, but it is thought that multiple acquired and inherited factors are interacting and producing the increased tendency for thrombosis in the local intestinal microvasculature, as well as in the systemic circulation. Clinicians’ awareness of the risks, and their ability to promptly diagnose and manage tromboembolic complications are of vital importance. In this review we discuss how thromboembolic disease is related to IBD, specifically focusing on: (1) the epidemiology and clinical features of thromboembolic complications in IBD; (2) the pathophysiology of thrombosis in IBD; and (3) strategies for the prevention and management of thromboembolic complications in IBD patients.

Evacuation leaders and/or equipment provide route and exit information for people and guide them to the expected destinations, which could make crowd evacuation more efficient in case of emergency. The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of recent advances in guided crowd evacuation. Different guided crowd evacuation approaches are classified according to guidance approaches and technologies. A comprehensive analysis and comparison of crowd evacuation with static signage, dynamic signage, trained leader, mobile devices, mobile robot and wireless sensor networks are presented based on a single guidance mode perspective. In addition, the different evacuation guidance systems that use high-tech means such as advanced intelligent monitoring techniques, AI techniques, computer technology and intelligent inducing algorithms are reviewed from a system’s perspective. Future researches in the area of crowd evacuation are also discussed.
