BACKGROUND Congenital cataract,facial dysmorphism,and neuropathy(CCFDN)syndrome is an extremely rare multiorgan *** include congenital cataracts,facial deformation,extremity deformities,and demyelinating *** syndrome is associated with increased risk during anesthesia including rhabdomyolysis or epileptic *** is a lack of published information about difficult airways in these *** airways during intubation represent one of the most dreaded anesthesia complications:A"can not intubate,can not oxygenate"*** herein is the first described successful endotracheal intubation of a CCFDN syndrome *** SUMMARY We report the anesthetic management of a 13-year-old girl with CCFDN syndrome scheduled for posterior neuromuscular scoliosis correction *** patient suffered from extensive progressive neuromuscular scoliosis with a Cobb angle of 83°.Her limitations included neuropathy and a scoliotic *** condition negatively impacted her quality of *** case reflects the potential anesthetic complications for posterior scoliosis correction and CCFDN *** challenge for our anesthetic team was the limited amount of data about anesthetic management of this *** total,one case report without any data about endotracheal intubation of patients with this condition was *** intubation in our case was *** focus of our case was the prevention of possible complications associated with this syndrome,including rhabdomyolysis and *** can be triggered by some types of anesthetic agents like suxamethonium or volatile anesthetics,especially in patients with certain types of *** Adequate understanding of the anesthetic management of CCFDN syndrome can reduce perioperative complications and improve patient outcome after surgery.

Determination of the sensible heat effectiveness and pressure loss of a rotary regenerative heat exchanger using CFD

The paper presents a new method to determine the sensible effectiveness and pressure loss of rotary regenerative heat exchangers using computational fluid dynamics(CFD).It is based on CFD simulations of a single thermal wheel microchannel with a small cross-sectional area and thin walls,with cyclic inlet and outlet boundary *** unique measurement set-ups were designed and built for the experimental measurement of the heat exchanger *** different types of thermal wheels were manufactured,measured,and simulated in ANSYS *** wheels achieve an effectiveness greater than 73%under certain(air flow)conditions,which is the minimum effectiveness required by Ecodesign(in the EU).For the examined exchangers,the effectiveness ranges from 66.5%to 83.3%,depending on the boundary conditions and geometric parameters of the *** highest sensible effectiveness is achieved by heat exchangers with the largest heat exchange surface Ac;on the other hand,these wheels have the largest pressure *** paper discusses the use of a simplifiedε-NTU correlation model for the HVAC systems(typically C*=1).The correlation model and CFD results were compared and found to be different from each *** results of the CFD simulation were compared with measurements to prove that the proposed simulation method can predict the behaviour of the real heat exchanger as a *** was demonstrated that the sensible effectiveness and pressure loss of the rotary heat exchanger predicted by the CFD simulations correspond well to the measured values within the measurement uncertainty±1.3%.The proposed method can be used for the comparison of different rotary regenerative heat exchangers before their manufacturing and for verification that they meet the EU Ecodesign requirements set by the current *** reduces the cost of the initial optimisation and testing of new designs.

Poultry meat production steadily increases and its by-products including legs or skins may be further utilized to prepare gelatine,generally by using alkali or acid *** they are toxic,different methods are desirable,*** proteolytic *** enzymes is beneficial as they shorten processing time and reduce the required water *** conditions(the enzyme amount during the pre-treatment,first and second extraction temperature and time)of the process may influence gelatine quality and its *** this study,gelatines were prepared from chicken skin at different conditions in the series of combined factorial design of *** significance of the influence of the conditions on the quality(gel strength,viscosity,melting and gelling point)and yield of chicken skin gelatine(CSG)was *** highest yield(31.5%)was obtained at the conditions of the enzyme amount of 0.8%,first extraction temperature 80℃ and time 30 min,second extraction temperature 90℃ and time 60 ***,the highest CSG quality of gel strength(190 Bloom),viscosity(4.06 mPas),melting point(38.3℃)and gelling point(20.5℃)was obtained at the conditions of 0.2%/50℃/30 min in the first extraction.

Design and experiment of fuzzy-PID based tillage depth control system for a self-propelled electric tiller

The research on the self-propelled electric tiller is vital for further improving the quality and efficiency of greenhouse rotary tillage operation,reducing the work intensity and operation risk of operators,and achieving environmentally friendly *** of the existing self-propelled tillers rely on manual adjustment of the tillage ***,the consistency and stability of the tillage depth are difficult to *** this study,the automatic control method of tillage depth of a self-propelled electric tiller is investigated.A method of applying the fuzzy PID(Proportional Integral Derivative)control method to the tillage depth adjustment system of a tiller is also proposed to realize automatic *** system uses the real-time detection of the resistance sensor and angle *** controller runs the electronically controlled hydraulic system to adjust the force and position *** fuzzy control algorithm is used in the operation error control to realize the double-parameter control of the tillage *** simulation and experimental verification of the system are *** show that the control system applying fuzzy PID can improve the soil breaking rate by 3%in the operation process based on reducing the stability variation of tillage depth by 24%.The control strategy can reach the set value of tillage depth quickly and *** can also meet the requirement of tillage depth consistency during the operation.

Heavy rockbursts due to longwall mining near protective pillars:A case study

Rockburst represents a very dangerous phenomenon in deep underground mining in unfavourable conditions such as great depth, high horizontal stress, proximity of important tectonic structures, and unmined pillars. The case study describes a recorded heavy rockburst in the Czech part of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin, which occurred during longwall mining near the protective pillar. The artificial dividing of geological blocks and creation of mining protective pillars(shaft pillars, crosscut pillars etc.) is a dangerous task in light of rockbursts occurring mainly due to overstressing of remaining pillars. A simple model of this situation is presented. Natural and mining conditions are analysed and presented in detail as well as registered seismicity during longwall mining in the area. Recorded rockbursts in the area of interest are described and their causes discussed. Many rockbursts near protective pillars were recorded in this mining region. Methodical instructions for rockburst prevention in proximity of protective pillars as well as for gates driving were devised based on the evaluation of rockburst causes. The paper presents these principles for prevention.

A Comparison of Experimental and Numerical Studies Performed on a Low-Pressure Turbine Blade Cascade at High-Speed Conditions, Low Reynolds Numbers and Various Turbulence Intensities

This paper focuses on a comparison of experimental and numerical investigations performed on a low-pressure mid-loaded turbine blade at operating conditions comprised of a wide range of Mach numbers(from 0.5-1.1),Reynolds numbers(from 0.4e+5-3.0e+5),flow incidence(-15-15 degrees) and three levels of free-stream turbulence intensities(2,5 and 10%).The experimental part of the work was performed in a high-speed linear cascade wind *** increased levels of turbulence were achieved by a passive grid placed at the cascade inlet.A two-dimensional flow field at the center of the blade was traversed pitch-wise upstream and downstream the cascade by means of a five-hole probe and a needle pressure probe,*** blade loading was measured using the surface pressure taps evenly deployed at the blade mid-span along the suction and the pressure *** inlet turbulence was investigated using the constant temperature anemometer technique with a dual sensor *** evaluated values of turbulent kinetic energy and its dissipation rate were then used as inputs for the numerical *** in-house code based on a system of the Favre-averaged Navier-Stokes equation closed by a two-equation k-turbulence model was adopted for the *** code utilizes an algebraic model of bypass transition valid both for attached as for separated flows taking in account the effect of free-stream turbulence and pressure *** resulting comparison was carried out in terms of the kinetic energy loss coefficient,distributions of downstream wakes and blade *** a flow visualization was performed by means of the Schlieren technique in order to provide a further understanding of the studied phenomena.A few selected cases with a particular interest in the attached and separated flow transition are compared and discussed.

Numerical Simulation of Separated Flows in Channels

The work deals with numerical modelling of turbulent flows in channels with an expansion of the cross-section where flow separation and reattachment occur. The performance of several eddy viscosity models and an explicit algebraic Reynolds stress model (EARSM) is studied. The used test cases are flows in channels with various backward facing steps where the step is perpendicular or inclined and the top wall is parallel or deflected. Furthermore, a channel with the circular ramp is considered. The numerical solution is achieved by the finite volume method or by the finite element method. The results of both numerical approaches are compared.

To the Editor:Natural orifice specimen extraction surgery(NOSES)is an actively developing approach for extracting specimens and performing non-incisional colorectal cancer *** studies have shown that its effectiveness and safety in the surgical treatment of rectal cancer are similar to those of conventional laparoscopic *** was demonstrated to be a possible alternative approach to conventional laparoscopy,for which a mini-laparotomy is used to extract the specimen,as there were no differences in surgical characteristics and short-term outcomes.[1]Recently,new promising approaches have been demonstrated for rectal tumors extraction with bowel eversion and extra-abdominal resection.

Warming and altered precipitation rarely alter N addition effects on soil greenhouse gas fluxes: a meta-analysis

Background Changes in soil greenhouse gas（GHG） fluxes caused by nitrogen（N） addition are considered as the key factors contributing to global climate change（global warming and altered precipitation regimes）,which in turn alters the feedback between Naddition and soil GHG ***,the effects of N addition on soil GHG emissions under climate change are highly variable and context-dependent,so that further syntheses are ***,a meta-analysis of the interactive effects of N addition and climate change（warming and altered precipitation）on the fluxes of three main soil GHGs [carbon dioxide（CO2）,methane（CH4）,and nitrous oxide（N2O）] was conducted by synthesizing 2103 observations retrieved from 57 peer-reviewed articles on multiple terre strial ecosystems *** The interactive effects of N addition and climate change on GHG fluxes were generally *** combination of N addition and warming or altered precipitation increased N2O emissions significantly while it had minimal effects on CO2emissions and CH4 uptake,and the effects on CH4 emissions could not be ***,the magnitude of the combined effects did not differ significantly from the effects of N addition ***,the combined effects on CO2and CH4varied among ecosystem types due to differences in soil moisture,which was in contrast to the soil N2O emission *** soil GHG flux responses to combined N addition and climate change also varied among different climatic conditions and experimental *** Overall,our findings indicate that the effects of N addition and climate change on soil GHG fluxes were relatively independent,*** effects of N addition and climate change were equal to or not significantly different from the sum of their respective individual *** effects of N addition on soil GHG fluxes influence the feedbacks between climate change and soil GHG fluxes.
