Vγ9Vδ2 T cells are specialized effector cells that have gained prominence as immunotherapy agents due to their ability to target and kill cells with altered pyrophosphate *** our effort to understand how cancer cells evade the cell-killing activity of Vγ9Vδ2 T cells,we performed a comprehensive genome-scale cRISPR screening of cancer *** found that four molecules belonging to the butyrophilin(BTN)family,specifically BTN2A1,BTN3A1,BTN3A2,and BTN3A3,are critically important and play unique,nonoverlapping roles in facilitating the destruction of cancer cells by primary Vγ9Vδ2 T *** coordinated function of these BTN molecules was driven by synchronized gene expression,which was regulated by IFN-γsignaling and the RFX ***,an enzyme called QPcTL was shown to play a key role in modifying the N-terminal glutamine of these BTN proteins and was found to be a crucial factor in Vγ9Vδ2 T cell killing of cancer *** our research,we offer a detailed overview of the functional genomic mechanisms that underlie how cancer cells escape Vγ9Vδ2 T ***,our findings shed light on the importance of the harmonized expression and function of gene family members in modulating T-cell activity.

Statin, testosterone and phosphodiesterase 5-inhibitor treatments and age related mortality in diabetes

AIMTo determine how statins, testosterone (T) replacement therapy (TRT) and phosphodiesterase 5-inhibitors (PDE5I) influence age related mortality in diabetic *** studied 857 diabetic men screened for the BLAST study, stratifying them (mean follow-up = 3.8 years) into: (1) Normal T levels/untreated (total T > 12 nmol/L and free T > 0.25 nmol/L), Low T/untreated and Low T/treated; (2) PDE5I/untreated and PDE5I/treated; and (3) statin/untreated and statin/treated groups. The relationship between age and mortality, alone and with T/TRT, statin and PDE5I treatment was studied using logistic regression. Mortality probability and 95%cI were calculated from the above models for each *** was associated with mortality (logistic regression, OR = 1.10, 95%cI: 1.08-1.13, P ctors included, age (OR = 1.08, 95%cI: 1.06-1.11, P cI: 0.15-0.92, P = 0.033), PDE5I/treated (OR = 0.17, 95%cI: 0.053-0.56, P = 0.004) and statin/treated (OR = 0.59, 95%cI: 0.36-0.97, P = 0.038) were associated with lower mortality. Age related mortality was as described by Gompertz, r2 = 0.881 when Ln (mortality) was plotted against age. The probability of mortality and 95%cI (from logistic regression) of individuals, treated/untreated with the drugs, alone and in combination was plotted against age. Overlap of 95%cI lines was evident with statins and TRT. No overlap was evident with PDE5I alone and with statins and TRT, this suggesting a change in the relationship between age and *** show that statins, PDE5I and TRT reduce mortality in diabetes. PDE5I, alone and with the other treatments significantly alter age related mortality in diabetic men.

The Voisey's Bay Ni-cu-co Sulfide Deposit, Labrador, canada: Emplacement of Silicate and Sulfide-Laden Magmas into Spaces created within a Structural corridor

The Voisey's Bay Ni-cu-co sulfide deposit is hosted in a 1.34 Ga mafic intrusion that is part of the Nain Plutonic Suite in Labrador, *** Ni-cu-co sulfide mineralization is associated with magmatic breccias that are typically contained in weakly mineralized olivine gabbros, troctolites and ferrogabbros, but also occur as veins in adjacent *** mineralization is associated with a dyke-like body which is termed the feeder *** dyke connects the shallow differentiated Eastern Deeps chamber in the east to a deeper intrusion in the west termed the Western Deeps *** the conduit is connected to the Eastern Deeps Intrusion, the Eastern Deeps Deposit is developed at the entry line of the dyke along the steep north wall of the Eastern Deeps *** Eastern Deeps Deposit is surrounded by a halo of moderately to weakly mineralized Variable-Textured Troctolite (VTT) that reaches a maximum thickness above the ENE-WSW axis of the Eastern Deeps Deposit. Evolution of the corrosion Product Film and Its Effect on the Erosion–corrosion Behavior of Two commercial 90cu–10Ni Tubes in Seawater

The composition and structural evolution of the corrosion product film of two commercial 90cu-10Ni tubes, namely TubeA and Tube B, after being immersed in natural seawater for 1, 3, and 6 months were characterized by scanning electronmicroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and its effecton the erosion--corrosion behavior of the tubes was determined through a rotating cylinder electrode system using variouselectrochemical techniques. For the freshly polished samples used as contrast samples, the flow velocity mainly enhancedthe cathodic reaction at low flow velocities while both the anodic and the cathodic reactions were remarkably accelerated athigher flow velocities. The corrosion product films formed on the two commercial 90cu-10Ni tubes after being immersedin seawater for up to 6 months are of a complex three-layer or multilayer structure. The structural evolution of the films isout of sync for the two tubes. A continuous residual substrate layer depleted of Ni was observed in the inner layer of thefilms on Tube B after 30, 90, and 180 days＇ immersion, while it was observed in the film on Tube A only after 180 days＇immersion. The nature of the inner layer plays a crucial role in the erosion-corrosion resistance of the 90cu-10Ni tubes athigher flow velocity. The film with a compact and continuous inner layer of cu20 doped with Ni2＋ and Ni3＋ which bondsfirmly with the substrate could survive and even get repaired with the increased flow velocity. The film on Tube Bpossessing a hollow and discontinuous inner layer composed of the residual substrate was degraded rapidly with increasingrotation speed in spite of its quite good resistance at the stagnant or lower speed conditions.

Phosphorus Use Efficiency of Bio-Based Fertilizers:Bioavailability and Fractionation

Although to date some technologies producing bio-based phosphorus(P) fertilizers have been proposed and implemented, the efficient use of the recovered products is still limited due to legislative constraints and lack of insights in the P release with time and in the corresponding mechanisms. The aim of this work was to evaluate the fertilizer performance in terms of P release and use efficiency of recovered struvite, FePO_4-sludge, digestate, and animal manure as compared to fossil reserve-based mineral triple superphosphate(TSP). First, product physicochemical characteristics and P fractions in the context of European fertilizer legislation were assessed. Next, a controlled greenhouse experiment was set up to evaluate plant reactions as well as changes of P availability in a sandy soil with high P status and a Rheinsand soil with low P status. Soil P fractions were determined in the extracts with water, ammonium lactate and cacl_2, and in soil solution sampled with Rhizon soil moisture samplers. Based on all results, it is worth conducting long-term field trials to evaluate the P release effect of struvite and digestate as compared to animal manure and TSP on different soil types with varying P status. These products showed promise as sustainable substitutes for conventional P fertilizers and could contribute to a more efficient use of P in agriculture. A refined classification of P application standards/recommendations in terms of soil P status, soil texture, and fertilizer characteristics, next to the crop P demand, is recommended. Moreover, the additional use of Rhizon samplers for determination of direct available P, including dissolved organic P, is proposed for better understanding and categorization of different P fertilizers in environmental and fertilizer legislations.

Single-center study comparing computed tomography colonography with conventional colonoscopy

AIM:To compare the results from computed tomography (cT) colonography with conventional colonoscopy in symptomatic patients referred for colonoscopy. METHODS: The study included 227 adult outpatients, mean age 60 years, with appropriate indications for colonoscopy. cT colonography and colonoscopy were performed on the same day in a metropolitan teaching hospital. colonoscopists were initially blinded to the results of cT colonography but there was segmental unblinding during the procedure. The primary outcome measures were the sensitivity and specificity of cT colonography for the identification of polyps seen at colonoscopy (i.e. analysis by polyp). Secondary outcome measures included an analysis by patient, extracolonic findings at cT colonography, adverse events with both procedures and patient acceptance and preference. RESULTS: Twenty-five patients (11%) were excluded from the analysis because of incomplete colonoscopy or poor bowel preparation that affected either cT colonography, colonoscopy or both procedures. Polyps and masses (usually cancers) were detected at colonoscopy and cT colonography in 35% and 42% of patients, respectively. Of nine patients with a finaldiagnosis of cancer, eight (89%) were identified by cT colonography as masses (5) or polyps (3). For polyps analyzed according to polyp, the overall sensitivity of cT colonography was 50% (95% cI, 39%-61%) but this increased to 71% (95% cI, 52%-85%) for polyps ≥ 6 mm in size. Similarly, specificity for all polyps was 48% (95% cI, 39%-58%) increasing to 67% (95% cI, 56%-76%) for polyps ≥ 6 mm. Adverse events were uncommon but included one colonic perforation at colonoscopy. Patient acceptance was high for both procedures but preference favoured cT colonography. cONcLUSION: Although cT colonography was more sensitive in this study than in some previous studies, the procedure is not yet sensitive enough for widespread application in symptomatic patients.

A new genus and species of basal neoceratopsian dinosaur, Auroraceratops rugosus, is reported based on material from the Early cretaceous Xinminpu Group in the Gongpoquan Basin of Gansu Province, china. Auroraceratops is represented by a nearly complete skull and low jaws, and different greatly from all other neoceratopsians by its considerable breadth of the nasals, fungi form expansion of the dorsal end of the lacrimal, highly developed rugosity of the jugal, dentary and surangular, and inflated, striated premaxillary teeth. The finding of Auroraceratops adds diversity and helps elucidate the evolution of basal neoceratopsian dinosaurs.
