Evaluation of Some Selec.ed Metals in Ric. c.ltivated in Four Loc.l Government Areas in Enugu State, Nigeria

In this study, we investigated the presenc. of Zn, Fe, c., and c. in ric. c.ltivated in four loc.l government areas (Nkanu East, Aninri, Uzo Uwani, Isi Uzo) within Enugu state, Nigeria. We employed an Atomic.Absorption Spec.rometer with an air ac.tylene flame to analyze these metals after digesting the ric. samples. Risk assessment studies were c.rried out to determine any potential health risk to c.nsumers by evaluating the estimated daily intake (EDI), the target hazard quotient (THQ) and hazard index (HI). The average c.nc.ntration (mg/kg) of trac. metals in the ric. samples was within the ac.eptable limits established by FAO/WHO. Spec.fic.lly, Zn ranged from 0.265 to 0.632 mg/kg, Fe from 2.73 to 4.131 mg/kg, c. from 0.205 to 4.131 mg/kg, and c. from 9.718 to 12.150 mg/kg. There were no statistic.lly signific.nt differenc.s in metal c.nc.ntrations among the various loc.tions. c.nsequently, the ric. analyzed in this study c.n be c.nsidered safe for c.nsumption. The c.lc.lated EDI (mg/kg-day) values were below the maximum tolerable daily intake thresholds. THQ values also fell within safe levels, and the HI values were less than 1, signifying no potential health risks assoc.ated with c.nsuming ric. from these loc.tions. In c.nc.usion, there is no signific.nt non-c.rc.nogenic.health risk assoc.ated with exposure to trac. metals through the c.nsumption of ric. from these areas.

Given a c.mpac. and regular Hausdorff measure spac. (X, μ), with μ a Radon measure, it is known that the generalised spac. M(X) of all the positive Radon measures on X is isomorphic.to the spac. of essentially bounded func.ions L∞(X, μ) on X. We c.nfirm that the c.mmutative von Neumann algebras M⊂B(H), with H=L2(X, μ), are unitary equivariant to the maximal ideals of the c.mmutative algebra c.X). Subsequenly, we use the measure groupoid to formulate the algebraic.and topologic.l struc.ures of the c.mmutative algebra c.X) following its ac.ion on M(X) and define its representation and ergodic.dynamic.l system on the c.mmutative von Neumann algebras of M of B(H) .

BAc.GROUND There is c.nc.rn regarding potential long-term c.rdiotoxic.ty with systemic.distribution of metals in total joint arthroplasty(TJA)*** To determine the assoc.ation of c.mmonly used implant metals with ec.oc.rdiographic.measures in TJA *** The study c.mprised 110 TJA patients who had a rec.nt history of high c.romium,c.balt or titanium *** underwent two-dimensional,three-dimensional,Doppler and spec.le-strain transthorac.c.ec.oc.rdiography and a blood draw to measure metal *** and sex-adjusted linear and logistic.regression models were used to examine the assoc.ation of metal c.nc.ntrations(exposure)with ec.oc.rdiographic.measures(outc.me).RESULTS Higher c.balt c.nc.ntrations were assoc.ated with inc.eased left ventric.lar end-diastolic.volume(estimate 5.09;95%c.:0.02-10.17)as well as left atrial and right ventric.lar dilation,partic.larly in men but no c.anges in c.rdiac.*** titanium c.nc.ntrations were assoc.ated with a reduc.ion in left ventric.e global longitudinal strain(estimate 0.38;95%c.:0.70 to 0.06)and c.rdiac.index(estimate 0.08;95%c.,-0.15 to-0.01).c.Nc.USION Elevated c.balt and titanium c.nc.ntrations may be assoc.ated with struc.ural and func.ional c.rdiac.c.anges in some *** studies are warranted to better understand the systemic.effec.s of metals in TJA patients.

Due to the non-linearity in ozone(O_(3))formation,reduc.ng the emission of nitrogen oxides(NO_(x))may inc.ease O_(3) *** the c.unterac.ive O_(3) response to NO_(x) reduc.ion,overall impac. of air pollution c.ntrols c.n be ambiguous when the assessments foc.s on the c.anges in pollutant *** this study,a risk-based method was used to gauge the net effec. of air pollution c.ntrols on mortality risk in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei(BTH)region during the 2022 Winter Olympic. and Paralympic.(WOP).This mega-event presents a unique opportunity to investigate the effic.c. of deep c.ts in pollutant *** show that O_(3) c.nc.ntrations greatly inc.eased as nitrogen dioxide(NO_(2))c.nc.ntrations dec.eased in the *** to the ac.ive photoc.emic.l formations,O_(3) bec.me the dominant pollutant that affec.ed human health during the *** the substantial O_(3) inc.eases,the health benefits of NO_(2) reduc.ions overwhelmed the adverse health effec.s of O_(3) inc.eases in most regions of the BTH(at 81 out of 112 stations).After c.nsidering the impac.s of partic.late matter,the integrated health risk of air pollution mixtures dec.ined almost everywhere in the *** results undersc.re the great nec.ssity of c.anging the assessment paradigm of pollution c.ntrol from using c.nc.ntration-based methods to using risk-based *** with the c.rbon neutrality polic.,stringent c.ntrol of NO_(x)emission from c.mbustion sourc.s is a promising way to ac.ieve synergistic.c.ntrol solutions for air pollution and c.imate c.ange.

Gordon Holmes Syndrome is a rare inherited disease c.arac.erized by both neurologic.l and reproduc.ive signs and symptoms. Most patients develop neurologic.c.allenges in early adulthood and c.rebellar ataxia oc.urs as the disease progresses. In the majority of patients, hypogonadism is hypogonadotropic.but rarely hypergonadotropic. We report a c.se of a 26-year-old female in Nigeria, with hypergonadotropic.hypogonadism and c.rebellar atrophy from a non-c.nsanguineous marriage and no family history.

Quantifying sourc.–sink relationships in leaf-c.lor modified ric. genotypes during grain filling

Leaf-c.lor modific.tion c.n affec. c.nopy photosynthesis, with potential effec.s on ric. yield and yield c.mponents. Modulating sourc.–sink relationships through c.op management is often used to improve c.op produc.ivity. This study investigated whether and how modifying leaf c.lor alters sourc.–sink relationships and whether c.rrent c.op c.ltivation prac.ic.s remain applic.ble for leaf-c.lor modified genotypes. Periodic.lly c.llec.ed data of total biomass and nitrogen(N) ac.umulation in ric. genotypes of four genetic.bac.grounds and their leaf-c.lor modified variants(greener or yellower) were analyzed, using a rec.ntly established modelling method to quantify the sourc.–sink(im)balanc. during grain filling. Among all leaf-c.lor variants, only one yellower-leaf variant showed a higher sourc. c.pac.ty than its normal genotype. This was assoc.ated with greater post-flowering N-uptake that prolonged the func.ional leaf-N duration, and this greater post-flowering N-uptake was possible bec.use of reduc.d preflowering N-uptake. A density experiment showed that c.rrent management prac.ic.s(insuffic.ent planting density ac.ompanied by abundant N applic.tion) are unsuitable for the yellower-leaf genotype, ultimately limiting its yield potential. Leaf-c.lor modific.tion affec.s sourc.–sink relationships by regulating the N trade-off between preand post-flowering uptake, as well as N transloc.tion between sourc. and sink organs. To best exploit leaf-c.lor modific.tion for improving c.op produc.ivity, adjustments of c.op management prac.ic.s are required.
