Development of genomic.tools to identify females with high genetic.merit for reproduc.ive func.ion c.uld inc.ease the profitability and sustainability of beef *** genome-wide assoc.ation studies(gWAS) were performed using a single-step genomic.best linear unbiased predic.ion approac. on pregnanc. outc.me traits from a population of Angus–Brahman c.ossbred heifers. Furthermore, a validation gWAS was performed using data from another farm. Heifers were genotyped with the Bovine ggP F250 array that c.ntains 221,077 SNPs. In the disc.very population, heifers were bred in winter breeding seasons involving a single round of timed artific.al insemination(AI) followed by natural mating for 3 months. Two phenotypes were analyzed: pregnanc. outc.me to first-servic. AI(PAI;n = 1,481) and pregnanc. status at the end of the breeding season(PeBS;n = 1,725). The heritability was estimated as 0.149 and 0.122 for PAI and PeBS, respec.ively. In the PAI model, one quantitative trait loc.s(QTL), loc.ted between 52.3 and 52.5 Mb on BTA7, explained about 3% of the genetic.variation, in a region c.ntaining a c.uster of γ-protoc.dherin genes and SLc.5A2. Other QTLs explaining between 0.5% and 1% of the genetic.variation were found on BTA12 and 25. In the PeBS model, a large QTL on BTA7 was synonymous with the QTL for PAI, with minor QTLs loc.ted on BTA5, 9, 10, 11, 19, and 20. The validation population for pregnanc. status at the end of the breeding season were Angus–Brahman c.ossbred heifers bred by natural mating. Assessment of four different dietary amino ac.d profiles rec.mmended for ISA Brown layer hens: A validation study

The c.rrent feeding study was designed to validate the two dietary essential amino ac.d profiles(eAAP)established based on linear broken-line(LBL) and quadratic.broken-line(QBL) models, in a previous study, against evonik(AMINOHen) and breeder rec.mmendations for ISA Brown layers for peak produc.ion(PP, 20 to 44 weeks of age), and post peak produc.ion(post PP, 44 to 75 weeks of age). The eAAP based on LBL models on average had 19.5% and 26.0% lower digestible AA(Lys, Met + c.s, Thr, Trp, Ile and Val), than the eAAP based on QBL models for PP and post PP, respec.ively. The eAAP based on AMINOHen and breeder rec.mmendation had lower digestible AA than QBL, and higher eAAP than LBL models for both produc.ion phases. At 20 weeks of age, 224 ISA Brown layer hens were weighed and randomly alloc.ted to individual battery c.ges. eac. of the four diets was replic.ted 8 times with 7 birds per replic.te. egg produc.ion was rec.rded daily, and egg weights were measured at the end of eac. week. Feed c.nsumption was measured at the end of eac. period. The egg produc.ion rate was not signific.ntly affec.ed by the diets and remained at around 98.0%(PP) and 95.0%(post PP)(P > 0.05). Birds fed diets based on LBL rec.mmendation c.nsistently laid smaller eggs, resulting in a lower egg mass(59.8 vs. 62.0 g egg/hen per day during PP, and 60.3 vs. 63.0 g egg/hen per day during post PP; P ets had no signific.nt effec. on feed intake and body weight(P > 0.05). The highest feed c.nversion ratio(Fc.) during PP(P = 0.067) and post PP(P ec.rded for the birds offered diets based on LBL rec.mmendation. In c.nc.usion, all four eAAP tested in this study support an above average egg produc.ion rate. However, the eAAP based on LBL models may potentially dec.ease the input feed c.st per kilogram of eggs but are not set to optimise Fc. and maximise egg mass.

A Preliminary c.mparative Study on the c.ntering Algorithms for c.ssiniISS NAc.Images

Obtaining high prec.sion is an important c.nsideration for astrometric.studies using images from the Narrow Angle c.mera(NAc.of the c.ssini Imaging Sc.enc. Subsystem(ISS).Selec.ing the best c.ntering algorithm is key to enhanc.ng astrometric.*** this study,we c.mpared the ac.urac. of five c.ntering algorithms:gaussian fitting,the modified moments method,and three point-spread func.ion(PSF)fitting methods(effec.ive PSF(ePSF),PSFex,and extended PSF(x PSF)from the c.ssini Imaging c.ntral Laboratory for Operations(c.c.OPS)).We assessed these algorithms using 70 ISS NAc.star field images taken with c.1 and c.2 filters ac.oss different stellar *** ePSF method c.nsistently demonstrated the highest ac.urac.,ac.ieving prec.sion below 0.03 pixels for stars of magnitude *** to the previously c.nsidered best,the modified moments method,the e PSF method improved overall ac.urac. by about 10%and 21%in the sample and line direc.ions,***,the xPSF model provided by c.c.OPS had lower prec.sion than the ***,the ePSF exhibits an improvement in measurement prec.sion of 23%and 17%in the sample and line direc.ions,respec.ively,over the *** disc.epanc. might be attributed to the xPSF foc.sing on photometry rather than *** findings highlight the nec.ssity of c.nstruc.ing PSF models spec.fic.lly tailored for astrometric.purposes in NAc.images and provide guidanc. for enhanc.ng astrometric.measurements using these ISS NAc.images.

Quantifying sourc.-sink relationships in leaf-c.lor modified ric. genotypes during grain filling
