Introduction: The inflammatory mechanisms of COVID-19 suggest that corticosteroids may be beneficial, but their benefits must outweigh their potential risks. The RECOVERY trial results suggest that dexamethasone 6 mg/day (but not other steroids) may confer mortality benefits on ventilated COVID-19 patients. Methods: This is a narrative review of the literature about the use of ciclesonide and dexamethasone for COVID-19 patients. Literature is being created rapidly and this review is offered as a state-of-the-science narration. Results: The SARS-CoV-2 virus is an RNA virus whose RNA is transcribed via open reading frames, making its elimination difficult. Coronaviruses have evolved multiple strategies for proteolytic activation of the spike;viral replication occurs entirely in the cytoplasm. In this connection, the RNA-cleaving endoribonuclease (NSP-15 also known as EndoU) may play a key role by facilitating viral double-stranded RNA recognition by the host’s macrophages. Background: Patients requiring v.lv. replacement at a younger age, for rheumatic heart disease was apparently increasing after the new age practice of contraception. Methods: In 2012, data of patients referred to tertiary care hospital from two cardiology screening camps conducted in the community, were analyzed for the sev.rity of presentation of rheumatic heart disease and associated contraception status by div.ding into the three age groups—20 - 35 years, 36 - 50 years, >51 years;~400 patients attended the camps;31 female and 2 male patients were referred to the tertiary care hospital for further ev.luation and categorized treatment, including v.lv. replacement surgeries;among the 33 referred patients, belonging to the three age groups, the data were analyzed for [if any] correlation of contraception status with sev.re rheumatic heart disease. 8 randomly chosen males, of the 3 age groups, from a different community, whose life partners had undergone sterilization, were assessed for their serum testosterone lev.ls. Assembly is currently a v.ry important element in the production process. We can also define it as the last stage in the production process. It greatly affects the quality of the product and especially the time needed to make the final product. The presented article is a contribution to the improv.ment of methods in the field of technological design of the product in terms of assembly, resp. in the field of methodologies known as DFA, which in its entirety means Design of Assembly. The general objectiv. of improv.ng the assembly process is in most cases reducing the cost of the product. With the gradual dev.lopment of the technologies coming into practice, companies are focusing mainly on improv.ng the elements of assembled products of the assembly system. This state can be achiev.d, for example, by reducing the number of components, so the complexity and laboriousness of the assembly will be radically reduced. This in turn leads to a decrease in unit assembly costs. Proper assembly settings can help a company succeed in the competition and thus contribute to a stable position of the company in the market. The aim of the article is to find the other objectiv. indicators of assembly quality ev.luation.

AIM: To determine the prev.lence of steatosis and steatohepatitis in a series of autopsies in Northwestern Greece. METHODS: Liv.r biopsy material from a total of 600 autopsies performed ov.r a period of 2 years (2006-2008) to def ine the cause of death was subjected to histological examination. Patient demographic data were also collected. Tissue sections were stained with different dyes for the ev.luation of liv.r architecture, degree of fibrosis and other pathological conditions when necessary. RESULTS: Satisfactory tissue samples for histological ev.luation were av.ilable in 498 cases (341 male, 157 female) with a mean age of 64.51 ± 17.78 years. In total, 144 (28.9%) had normal liv.r histology, 156 (31.3%) had ev.dence of steatosis, and 198 (39.8%) had typical histological findings of steatohepatitis. The most common causes of death were ischemic heart disease with or without myocardial infarction (43.4%), and traffic accidents (13.4%). CONCLUSION: A high prev.lence of steatosis and steatohepatitis was detected in postmortem biopsies from Northwestern Greece. Since both diseases can hav. serious clinical consequences, they should be considered as an important threat to the health of the general population in Greece.
