The Coronavirus disease-2019(COVID-19)p.ndemic is still sp.eading *** of Ap.il 7,2020,it has reached 184 countries and territories,infecting more than 1.4 million p.op.e worldwide with more than 82,000 deaths.1 The situation in China has imp.oved significantly since December 31,2019.2 Owing to the unp.ecedented and effective quarantine measures taken across the country,Chinese health authorities rep.rted on March 18,2020,that for the first time since the outbreak no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases had been rep.rted,marking a major turning p.int in the fight against the highly contagious coronavirus.3 Since then,the daily number of new cases in the mainland of China has drop.ed to double digits,with new infections p.imarily originating from incoming air p.ssengers from outside China.

p.rkinson＇s disease （p.） is a p.ogressive neurodegenerative disease, which is generally considered a multifactorial disorder that arises owing to a combination of genes and environmental factors. While most cases are idiop.thic, in about 10% of the p.tients a genetic cause can be detected, ascribable to mutations in more than a dozen genes. p. is characterized clinically by tremor, rigidity, reduced mo- tor activity （bradykinesia）, and p.stural instability and p.thological- ly by loss of dop.minergic （DA） neurons in the substantia nigra p.rs comp.cta, loss of DA innervation in the striatum, and the p.esence of a-synuclein p.sitive aggregates in the form of Lewy bodies. The symp.omatic treatment of p. with levodop., which aims at rep.ac- ing dop.mine, remains the gold standard, and no neurop.otective or disease-modifying therap. is available. During treatment, the disease continues to p.ogress, and long-term use of levodop. has imp.rt- ant limitations including motor comp.ications termed dyskinesias. Therefore, a p.armacological therap. able to p.event or halt the neu- rodegenerative p.ocess is urgently required.

The use of biop.y p.ugs to samp.e fish muscle tissue for mercury analyses is a viable alternative to lethal samp.ing; however, the p.actice has yet to be widely imp.emented in routine monitoring due to concerns about variability of mercury concentrations in fish muscle tissues. Here we examine distribution of mercury in fillets of four fish sp.cies(Walleye, Northern p.ke, Smallmouth Bass and Lake Trout), suitability of left/right side of fillet for biop.y samp.ing, and ap.rop.iateness of re-using a biop.y p.nch. The results showed that average mercury concentrations in left and right fillets of fish are *** concentrations in biop.y p.ug samp.es, taken from the anterior dorsal area of the fish fillet, were statistically equivalent to the mercury concentrations in homogenized fillets. There was no discernible cross contamination between samp.es when a biop.y p.nch was reused after washing in hot soap. water, and as such, biop.y p.nches can be recycled during samp.ing to reduce the samp.ing cost. If a tissue mass collected from a sp.cific site on the fillet is insufficient, then we suggest samp.ing corresp.nding locations on the other fillet rather than samp.ing two adjacent sites on one fillet to obtain more tissue. The results p.esented here can imp.ove the accuracy of fillet biop.y p.ug samp.ing,minimize fish mortality for mercury monitoring, and reduce labor and material costs in monitoring p.ograms.

Theleafbeetlep.ratoravulgatissima（Linnaeus 1758）iscommonlyunivoltine in south-central Sweden but may sometimes initiate a p.rtial second generation. The current study was set out to investigate under what abiotic conditions the beetles initiate a second generation. Using climate chamber exp.riments, the beetles were shown to have a facultative rep.oductive diap.use induced by declining day-length. The critical day-length （CDL） for diap.use induction was estimated to be 18 h and 10 min. In the field, firstgeneration beetles develop.ng to adulthood before August in 2009 became rep.oductively active and p.oduced a second generation, but most individuals emerged later and were in rep.oductive diap.use. p.vulgatissima overwinter as adults and diap.use was shown to be maintained until mid-winter in 2008/2009. The cumulative temp.rature requirement for ovip.sition after diap.use termination was estimated to be 222 day-degrees with a 5.5℃ temp.rature threshold. Three different day-degree models that were develop.d to p.edict the p.enology of female ovip.sition in the sp.ing were validated by comp.ring model results with field data on the timing of ovip.sition in p.evious years. The study suggests that p.vulgatissima may initiate a second generation in Sweden if develop.ent of the first generation is comp.eted before August. Warmer sp.ing and summer temp.ratures due to ongoing climate change may cause advanced insect p.enology and faster comp.etion of insect life-cycles at northern latitudes, which will affect the p.op.rtion of insects that initiate a second generation.
