Greenhouse gas emission and its potential mitigation process from the waste sector in a large-scale exhibition

As one of the largest human activities, World Expo is an important source of anthropogenic Greenhouse Gas emission（GHG）, and the GHG emission and other environmental impacts of the Expo Shanghai 2010, where around 59,397 tons of waste was generated during 184 Expo running days, were assessed by life cycle assessment（LCA）. Two scenarios, i.e., the actual and expected figures of the waste sector, were assessed and compared, and 124.01 kg CO2-equivalent（CO2-eq.）, 4.43 kg SO2-eq., 4.88 kg NO-3-eq., and 3509 m3 water per ton tourist waste were found to be released in terms of global warming（GW）, acidification（AC）,nutrient enrichment（NE） and spoiled groundwater resources（SGWR）, respectively. The total GHG emission was around 3499 ton CO2-eq. from the waste sector in Expo Park, among which 86.47% was generated during the waste landfilling at the rate of 107.24 kg CO2-eq.,and CH4, CO and other hydrocarbons（HC） were the main contributors. If the waste sorting process had been implemented according to the plan scenario, around 497 ton *** could have been attained. Unlike municipal solid waste, with more organic matter content, an incineration plant is more suitable for tourist waste disposal due to its high heating value, from the GHG reduction perspective.

Acoustic Analysis of EkeGusii Vowel System

This study describes the vowel system of EkeGusii(“Bantu E.42”)(Guthrie,1948)in an acoustic phonetics perspective using oral data got from purposively sampled subjects:four adult males,four adult females and four children(two boys and two girls all 8 years old)equally from the two dialects of EkeGusii(EkeMaate and EkeRogoro Dialects).In order to capture the distribution characteristics of the vowel acoustic concentration,the group frequency means are normalized using Lobanov’s(1971)*** viewpoints are the subjects of analysis in EkeGusii vowels:(a)acoustic vowel space as projected by the intersection of F2 vs.F1 or quadrilateral,and(b)spatial features of high,low,front and *** qualities are mainly influenced by the physiology of speakers and social variability as occasioned by gender,age and *** results indicate that children have no gender difference in formants,and have the highest frequencies for all formants,followed by adult females and then adult ***,acoustic vowel space and spatial features are affected by gender,age,and dialect.A vowel pattern,replicated by all informants,is realized in the dispersion of the vowels within the chart influenced by gender and *** study found out that EkeGusii seems to adopt a seven-vowel system of/i eɛaɔo u/with a length contrast.

Studies on the effects of biosolids(BS)amended substrate on food quality and safety in tomato production have not been adequately *** objective of this study was to investigate the influence of composted BS and NPK fertilizer on post-harvest quality and safety of potted greenhouse tomato Solanum lycopersicum *** tomatoes"Maxim F1"were grown in a randomized complete block design with four *** fertilizer NPK(17:17:17) fertilizer was applied at 0,100 kg ha^(-1)(5g per pot)and 200 kg ha^(-1);(10g per pot),BS was applied at 0%,10%,20%,30%,and 40%v/v,in all possible *** were harvested and analyzed for ascorbic acid,chlorophylls,carotenoids and total phenolic compounds;weight loss,fruit firmness,titratable acidity and total soluble solids,as well as heavy metals and microbial *** revealed that tomato fruit at 10%BS in combination with NPK fertilizer at 100 kg ha^(-1) had the highestβ-carotene(6.1 mg 100 g^(-1)),lycopene(26.1 mg 100 g^(-1)),ascorbic acids(128.0 mg 100 g^(-1)),total phenolic acids(13.2 mg 100 g^(-1)),total soluble solids(17%).However,the same rates produced tomato fruit with lower titratable acidity(2.2%)and had heavy metal residues within the permissible level,according to International EPA standards on biosolids utilization for food crops ***,no trace of pathogenic bacteria;Salmonella,Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus was observed on the harvested *** study reveals at BS 10% with NPK fertilizer at 100 kg ha^(-1) substrate as a better option of plant nutrient source for quality and safe greenhouse tomato production.

Malaysia Airlines flight 17 crashed on 17 July 2014 while flying over an area of armed conflict in eastern *** first forensic trace evidence was collected after the human remains were transferred to a safe location in the Netherlands for identification and *** victim identification processes were therefore undertaken in concert with the forensic *** to these processes,X-ray and computed tomography scanners were used to reveal foreign objects in the human remains,and a large number of these fragments were recovered after the forensic triage.A distinct group of metal fragments was identified as being potential remnants of high-energy foreign *** analysis revealed that they were explosively deformed unalloyed steel fragments,some of which had shapes consistent with pre-formed metal fragments found in a 9N314M warhead used in Buk SA-11 ***,thin film deposits of cockpit glass and aluminium were identified on the most heavily deformed side of some of the explosively deformed metal fragments,suggesting they came from outside the *** findings supported early suspicions that Malaysia Airlines flight 17 was struck by a Buk SA-11 missile.
