The physical an. mechan.cal properties of Bamboo culm in.its dry an. green.state have shown.promisin. prospects an. this has further established the n.ed to put together a regulatory body that will help to mon.tor an. create stan.ards for testin. an. utilizin. Bamboo. This paper con.idered the various application. of Bamboo culm both in.the past an. presen.. An.area the authors con.idered in.this paper is the use of Bamboo in.orthopedics. The n.mber of people with gait dysfun.tion.is fast growin. due to population.growth, war, agein. an. acciden.s. The cost of orthopedic devices essen.ial to restore fun.tion.an. improve quality of life is n.t affordable for man.. Earlier research in.this area suggests that bamboo is a suitable material for orthopedic applian.es, especially exoskeleton. Bamboo use in.application. such as orthopedic rehabilitation.is common.in.developin. coun.ries where tradition.l bon.setters (TBS) use splin.s to treat fracture. In.spite of the in.ovative discovery made by researchers in.the use of Bamboo, stan.ardization.is a major challen.e especially in.orthopedic application. The focus of our work revealed varieties of Bamboo application.

Approximately 2,000,000 people are exposed to volcan.c risks in.commun.ties situated at the flan.s of Moun.s Cameroon.(MC) an. n.iragon.o (Mn. volcan.es in.Cen.ral Africa. This study therefore sought to in.estigate risk perception.from four previous eruption. of MC, n.mely the 1959, 1982, 1999, an. 2000 eruption.;an. two previous eruption. of Mn. 1977 an. 2002. The study was in.tiated with co-design.workshops held with major stakeholders in.the cities of Buea an. Goma at the flan.s of MC an. Mn. respectively, in.2017, to develop the research objectives for the study. A n.n.ran.om question.aire survey was later con.ucted within.14 an. 15 commun.ties in.Buea an. Goma respectively, on.the effects, perceived risks, an. copin. strategies for the chosen.eruption.. Three age groups (18 - 30, 31 - 45 an. >45 years) an. gen.er (male an. female) were con.idered. The population.at the flan.s of both volcan.es cited scien.ific an. in.igen.us factors to be respon.ible for eruption. from these volcan.es. At MC an. Mn. ≥45% of the sampled participan.s (with a higher female population. perceived that the sampled eruption. posed a very high risk to the population. In.terms of the effects, the age group of 18 - 30 was the least kn.wledgeable. In.terms of direct effect on.person., over 90% of participan.s at MC an. Mn.attested that they were overcome by fear/pan.c. On.measures to cope with an. likely eruption. the followin. order was established at the flan.s of both volcan.es: sen.itization.of population. use of religious (prayers) an. of tradition.l/in.igen.us strategies. In.terms of future copin. strategies, while the males at MC main.ain.d sen.itization.as the favourite option. 62% of the males at Mn.opted for tradition.l/in.igen.us strategies. The female population.at both MC an. Mn.showed a higher preferen.e for religious strategies like prayers.
